Chapter 204: Chapter 203 - Questions without answers.
[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Demonic Tower.
...
...
Severus had conquered 50% of the demon tower and was finally advancing to the 51st floor, while placing the orb into a kind of necklace he had crafted there himself with his magic.
Originally, the orb was quite large, but he had shrunk it with transfiguration, without losing its maximum effect, and now wore it as an item around his neck, increasing all his magical abilities by 100%, multiplying his magical power.
"Let's test it now and see how my magic reacts to the item... But I hope better opponents show up," he said, hoping to face something worthy of the test, as he once again found himself in the same setting — a burning city, slightly different from the last, but still a city. Quickly, creatures began to appear from all sides, drawn by his presence as he walked through the streets, using spells to protect himself from the high temperature.
Seeing this, he wanted to use the same spell he had used on the last floor. He raised his wand and pointed it to the sky as soon as he found himself surrounded by demons.
'If I destroyed a neighborhood before, let's try the entire city.' He decided and cast his spell.
In the next instant, clouds even larger than any he had summoned before began to form, exploding with thunder as they surrounded the city, engulfing it in a collapsing storm.
He still wasn't surprised by it. He just executed the second part of his spell, thrusting his wand downward as it emitted lightning.
The bolts, obeying his command through the wand, began to emerge from the clouds and transform into dragons throughout various points of the city — serpentine dragons roared like manifestations of pure magic.
The demons seemed frightened to see it, looking up at the sky.
"It's incredible... I didn't imagine I could do this right here," Snape murmured, having just created a new spell on a scale he hadn't expected to reach so quickly... And all thanks to that orb on his neck, placing his magic on an even higher level.
"Tempestas Kirini," he said.
Then, he decided to end it all. He moved his wand once more, executing the final phase of the spell, as the dragons shot downward, exploding the city in every direction. Explosions began to erupt everywhere, with buildings and structures being destroyed along with the demons hit.
At the same time, those who escaped were in lucky positions. But that luck didn't last long, as the lightning bolts began to connect with the ground without disappearing while the wave of lightning remained connected with the clouds and began running in all directions.
The entire city was submerged in a lightning storm, which ran through every corner, destroying even more structures as they passed through them.
The city plunged into complete chaos, collapsing under the force of the storm and being completely destroyed.
The lightning coming from the sky seemed to follow a random pattern, devastating everything. In a short time, the entire floor was destroyed, and even the flames, which once burned endlessly, were smothered by the lightning.
Snape jumped onto one of the ruins in the midst of all the dust, as the lightning finally ceased, leaving the place submerged in complete silence with only the echo of destruction echoing in the distance.
A system message appeared beside him, informing that he had leveled up twice.
His gaze scanned the destruction around him.
"Very satisfying..." he murmured, looking at his wand. His magical abilities were now at a level beyond — even above his physical capabilities — and with a wide advantage.
He finally spotted the entrance to the next floor. He moved quickly toward it, reaching the 52nd.
As soon as he arrived, Kargalgan was praising him intensely among the other shadows, even without speaking, before the magical power of his king and how he had demonstrated it.
Snape continued moving forward and began to devastate everything with his spells, enhanced to a level he had never reached before, while also releasing his shadows so they could evolve.
After all, they also gained levels, and at the same time, he gained experience in necromancy, allowing him to unlock more storage to place additional shadows.
When he wasn't destroying the entire floor — which consumed a lot of magic — he would release his soldiers to roam the place, destroying any enemy that appeared.
This lasted a few days, until he finally reached the 80th floor, where he felt his shadows were being defeated for the first time.
When eliminated from a distance, they returned to his feet again, unable to remain in the locations where they had died.
He found that a bit unexpected and quickly advanced in that direction, able to sense where they had been killed.
Everything he had faced so far were demons, except for Cerberus, who was at the entrance, where he managed to extract its shadow.
But the demons up to that point weren't the same. He couldn't extract any of them — only kill them and gain levels.
Which was quite strange.
That proved something was wrong there, being the domain of the Demonic Monarch.
But at the same time, he found it strange, because logically, Baran shouldn't even be in this world or a dimension so close to the one he currently was in — whatever his companion was doing with Baran's powers now, or if he had already been consumed by the monarch himself.
He reached an area where he found a group of humanoid demons in armor — clearly demons — fighting against his lower-level shadows.
They were easily defeating them, taking down two of the eight that were scouting the area.
The shadows didn't return to Snape anymore due to his proximity and instead began to regenerate, which surprised the enemies.
Before they could continue killing the rest, a woman, judging by the shape of the armor, pointed toward Severus nearby, analyzing the situation — finally seeing him.
The other soldiers finished off the last shadows after that.
Severus simply observed, making no move yet.
Some of the armored demons suddenly rushed toward him.
Severus stared at them in silence before disappearing, advancing like an assassin toward the group, who quickly looked around for him — but he was already moving past them.
He reappeared, canceling his invisibility and slicing off the heads of four soldiers who had charged forward.
This surprised the remaining six.
"We have to kill the intruder!" the woman ordered immediately.
The other five prepared to act.
Snape simply raised an eyebrow at the sound of that demon's voice — it was the first time any of them had spoken since he had entered the tower.
They barely took their first steps when Snape reappeared in front of the woman with the spear, who was also preparing to charge.
He simply restrained her, surprising all five soldiers who were running toward him — losing their heads in the next moment, so fast that none of them could react to Snape's current speed.
She tried to free herself quickly, but Snape grabbed her by the neck and slammed her hard against the ground, causing the area around to explode as she groaned in pain.
"Who are you?" Severus stared at her through the cloud of smoke, his eyes glowing dangerously as she trembled with terror inside that helmet, unable to move.
"I can't move..." she murmured.
"Answer me or I intend to kill you," Snape said coldly once again, not wanting to waste any more time, while at the same time terrifying her deeply.
"Please, don't kill me! I'll answer anything!" she pleaded, as Snape threw the spear that had fallen after her arm dropped, far away.
After a moment, he released her from his grip, and she began to stand up.
"Answer me," Snape repeated a third time, his voice firm, while he sensed a few more shadows disappearing around that floor.
The woman seemed torn between the inflexible intent to try to kill him and the imminent fear of dying.
"Do anything and I won't give you another chance. Do you understand that?" Snape said, noticing the conflict in her eyes as she nodded immediately, submissively.
"Alright. My name is Esil Radiru. I'm the eldest princess of the Radiru Clan."
"Princess? You demons have a noble hierarchy?" Severus asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes. Each floor has its own hierarchy, and the whole tower functions this way, with the higher floors being the commanders and superior in hierarchical power and strength over the lower ones," she answered.
"And who's on the last floor?" he asked immediately.
"Who's there is the Demon King, Baran," she replied, making Snape feel a chill. A sinister aura exploded from his body.
One thing was seeing demons with the suspicion that Baran could be there, now confirming that the monarch of the domains was truly present... That enraged him, reminding him of the betrayal of his companions when he was killed.
"That's impossible... Baran shouldn't be in this world!" Snape roared, making the ground tremble. The woman stepped back in fear as he plunged into intense thoughts.
How could he find Baran so soon? And why was the portal on that planet he himself was strengthening? It made no sense. There were many things there he still didn't understand. Things that really couldn't coexist.
Baran wouldn't simply enter a dimension and isolate himself, creating his demons in a tower with a portal coming directly from the planet Snape was on.
"Are you okay?" the woman murmured, frightened, as the magical force around Snape began to decrease. She had never felt anything like it before. She now knew that this human could kill her at any moment and she wouldn't even have a chance to resist. Not even her clan would survive if he decided to wipe them out.
"I am..." he simply replied before continuing. "I haven't found any portal to the next floor yet. How do I proceed from here?" Snape asked, observing her.
She swallowed hard, hesitating a little before answering. After what she had felt, there was no way to oppose that human.
"You'll need permissions from this point on. It's necessary to obtain them to pass to the next level. They're with the nobles, most of the time," she explained.
"I see..." Snape responded, falling silent, thoughtful.
"I believe your father has that permission, right?" he said, causing her to go into a state of shock, realizing that Snape had made the chief of the floor — her father — his next target.
"Yes... But you don't need to kill him! I can talk to him, please... don't kill anyone from our clan..." she pleaded, as Snape raised an eyebrow once again, surprised by her reaction.
She was afraid, despite still holding the desire to kill him in her eyes, she seemed much more human than any other demon he had encountered before.
"It's strange for you to feel fear. Tell me, when did you come here? Was it Baran who summoned you?" he asked, while she appeared thoughtful.
"About that... I..." she was about to answer in a confused manner, as if she didn't even know herself, but at the same time, she began to distort like a tape being rewound.
"Yes... But you don't need to kill him! I can talk to him, please... don't kill anyone from our clan..." she resumed her earlier speech with the same expression, as if Snape had just made the previous statement — and not the one he had asked about Baran and the place.
He watched her for a few seconds, while she trembled with fear, thinking he was considering killing her along with her family.
"That's strange..." he murmured before responding to her.
"Very well. Take me to your father's house. I'll get the permission and leave," he declared, and she sighed in relief.
Snape quickly issued an order to all his shadows spread throughout the place. Due to a newly acquired ability, he could now communicate with all of them if he needed anything. Although they didn't speak, they responded quickly, without hesitation, to any of his commands.
"Let's go," he said.
The two of them headed toward the castle where Esil's father resided. On the way, she removed her helmet for the first time, revealing herself to be a demoness with purple hair.
Snape didn't care much and simply kept going, while she glanced at him from time to time, torn between the order that existed within her mind — to kill any intruder — and the fear she felt remembering the extent of the power Snape had demonstrated earlier, especially after learning about Baran.
