Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Duel Association
The next morning, Aiden woke up in bed, his mind still turning over the experience of duelling with Lord Voldemort in the Distorted Illusion. That battle had sparked a new idea.
[Ding, the idea is feasible.] The System's voice echoed in his mind, full of support.
"However, there are still flaws. I can't stabilise the scene in the Distorted Illusion, and entering and exiting is also a problem."
[Ding, you can use the system as an anchor. Add contract-type magic, select a small area in the Distorted Illusion as a public space, and people who join the contract will be able to travel back and forth between the two places using their minds.]
After thinking for a while, Aiden decided to seek Professor Flitwick's help. He set off for Professor Flitwick's office.
He knocked on the door. "Please come in," came the reply.
Aiden entered. Professor Flitwick was sipping tea and leisurely flipping through a book.
"Professor, sorry to bother you."
"Oh, Aiden, what brings you here?"
Aiden explained his idea for creating a practical duelling practice room inside the Distorted Illusion.
"Hmm, The Distorted Illusion, an ancient legend. I didn't expect you to have this ability," Professor Flitwick said, looking at Aiden with a probing gaze that made him a little nervous.
"You can try. If you can provide the anchor, I will handle the contract aspect. The signing method will be by invitation letter. Writing your name will establish the contract."
No sooner said than done, Professor Flitwick pulled Aiden along and began to try building the duelling room.
Aiden entered the Distorted Illusion through suggestion. The environment around him became Professor Flitwick's office. He called out Professor Flitwick's name and pulled him inside.
"Ah, this is a legendary place. It is said that only wizards with great magical power can come here before they die," Professor Flitwick exclaimed.
"Professor, you can't enter on your own either?" Aiden was curious. Professor Flitwick was already a wizard with deep experience on the magical path.
"I'm still a little short. The key is that I lack the accumulation of mind. You, on the other hand, are using your mind's ability to enter here ahead of time, aren't you?"
Old ginger is spicier. Professor Flitwick saw through Aiden's specialness at a glance.
"In fact, you don't have to hide this ability. The existence of wizards is already a miracle of the mind. It's not surprising that some geniuses are born with special gifts," Professor Flitwick said, comforting Aiden.
"Ah, no, Professor, I just use it less often… Actually, I have an agreement with Professor Dumbledore not to abuse this ability."
Facing the Head of House who cared about him, Aiden didn't want to hide the truth.
"Hmph, he's just old and confused, always worrying about this and that," Professor Flitwick grumbled.
Aiden laughed and didn't pursue the topic.
"So, Professor, what do we do next?" Aiden asked, genuinely curious.
"Didn't you say you could anchor here? Why are you asking me?" Professor Flitwick replied, raising an eyebrow.
"Uh…"
System, what do I do? Help me, Aiden called out in his mind.
[Ding, anchoring has been completed. The host can try to modify this site.]
Encouraged by the System, Aiden began to use his ability to shape the space. The area expanded under his will, transforming into a duelling room much like the Room of Requirement.
"This is truly amazing. I'd love to study it in depth," Professor Flitwick said, his eyes shining.
"I'm afraid it's a little dangerous, Professor," Aiden warned.
"I know. I was pulled in by you. You are my anchor. Exploring here in advance without enough mind accumulation will only lead to the abyss," Professor Flitwick said, restraining his curiosity.
"Then, let's start building the contract, Professor," Aiden suggested.
"Yes, I almost forgot the main business," Professor Flitwick said, taking out his wand and beginning to cast a spell.
"Let your anchor point appear," Professor Flitwick instructed.
"Professor, the anchor point is on me," Aiden replied, a little confused.
"Alright, for the spell, let's use the Unbreakable Vow, with you as the witness," Professor Flitwick suggested.
"Okay, Professor."
Aiden stretched out his hand to hold Professor Flitwick's. A thin, dazzling tongue of fire spurted from the wand, like a red-hot wire, wrapping around their clasped hands.
"Anchor. The association's purpose is to improve members' magical skills, cultivate teamwork and promote friendship, and it must not be used for malicious or illegal purposes. Do you agree?"
[Ding, I do.] The System's voice echoed in the Distorted Illusion.
"Strictly abide by the safety rules in all duelling activities. All duels and competitions will be conducted fairly."
"I am willing."
"Both parties agree to keep the duelling club's internal strategies, skills, and other sensitive information secret and not disclose it to outsiders."
"I am willing."
"Then, the contract is established," Aiden declared, and the contract was sealed.
"This is really a novel experience," Professor Flitwick said, a little excited as he returned to the real world.
"From now on, other wizards can join the duelling association as long as they sign the invitation letter we issue," Aiden said, pleased.
"Good. The next step is to find members. Aiden, let's discuss something," Professor Flitwick said, winking at him.
"Oh, you want me to bring more Ravenclaw students, right? No problem," Aiden agreed immediately.
"Excellent. Also, let the president come up with a name for this association. I will submit the association's establishment information to Professor McGonagall," Professor Flitwick said.
"For the name… let's call it Mind's Edge Duelling Club," Aiden decided.
"That's a good name. It captures the truth of the association in its title," Professor Flitwick said with a smile.
"So, when will the association meet?" Professor Flitwick asked.
"Let's set it for Thursday night each week and let it run all night," Aiden said, grinning (people - ͈ ᴗ - ͈ ).
"All night? No, no, no, that will exhaust the young wizards. Aiden, I know you are eager, but you must not be too impatient," Professor Flitwick said, surprised.
"Professor, haven't you noticed? It's only our consciousness that enters the Distorted Illusion, not our bodies or souls. As long as we are thinking, we won't feel tired."
"Hmmm, it seems this place could also be the best spot to study magic."
"Yes, and there's no need to worry about magical backlash. Even if the mind-body is damaged, it only causes fatigue for a while," Aiden said, smiling.
Unless you have lost your body and six souls, Aiden thought to himself.
[Ding, heh.]
"Hehe, it feels good to have someone get my joke. Thanks for playing along, System."
[Ding, bleh.]
