Chapter 89: HHES: Chapter 89
Loki glanced at Gon, Killua, and Leorio.
"Release them, and we'll release your three companions," Loki offered.
Phinks immediately refused. "They were captured because they're weak. If they die, we'll kill all of you for revenge."
"The chains were a surprise attack; otherwise, Feitan, Shalnark, and Shizuku wouldn't have been captured so easily," Machi added, shaking her head. "They were just unlucky."
Killua, held by Nobunaga, said, "Flame Kid, these guys are important to you."
Nobunaga turned, his terrifying gaze on Killua. "Then you'll feel what it's like to see your companions die!"
He raised his sword.
"Wait!" Loki's voice stopped Nobunaga, his blade a centimeter from Killua's throat. The cold aura from the blade made Killua sweat.
Nobunaga turned to Loki. "What? Threatening us with those three is useless."
Loki's gaze was dark. Exchanging hostages was useless unless they captured Chrollo. The other members weren't valuable enough to threaten the Troupe. He didn't care about Gon, Killua, and Leorio's lives, except for the mission. If they died, the reward might become B-class or C-class.
Loki looked at Nobunaga. "Let's play a game!"
"A game?" Nobunaga was interested. Loki was suggesting a game in this situation.
"What game?"
"You attack me. I won't dodge."
Nobunaga sneered. "Kid, it won't be like last time. I'll go all out; no more testing."
"I know. How about this game?"
"Okay. Your condition is that we release those three," Nobunaga said. He'd rather take Nobunaga's full attack than lose the three.
'Those three are important to the Flame Kid,' Nobunaga thought, looking at Feitan and the others.
"What if I don't agree?"
Loki smiled. "I'll kill your companions and escape."
Killing Feitan and the others wouldn't threaten the Troupe, but Nobunaga wouldn't let Loki escape.
Nobunaga's face darkened. 'This kid sees through me. He knows I won't let him escape.'
Phinks and Machi thought. The Leader ordered them to capture Loki; killing him was only allowed if they couldn't capture him. If Loki escaped, they'd fail the Leader's orders. They couldn't fail again like last time.
"I'll agree if you release Feitan and the others."
"No!"
Kurapika, who hadn't spoken, couldn't watch anymore.
"Loki, those three are useful; we can't release them."
They were valuable, but... if Loki refused, Nobunaga wouldn't agree.
Loki seemed to be thinking. Kurapika grew anxious. If Loki agreed, they'd be tricked. Would they really release Gon and the others after attacking Loki? Kurapika didn't believe them.
"Okay, release them, Kurapika," Loki finally said.
"Loki, no!" Kurapika protested.
"If not, Gon, Killua, and Leorio will die."
This stopped Kurapika. Gon, Killua, and Leorio were being choked; their breathing was weak.
Kurapika, clenching his fists, looked at the three bound by chains. He didn't want to release them; he didn't want to let them go easily, even if Gon and the others were captured.
"Decide quickly. That kid's almost gone," Nobunaga said, tightening his grip on Killua's throat. Killua struggled weakly. The same was happening to Gon, choked by Machi.
Kurapika, sighing, released the chains. Feitan and the others were free.
Feitan was about to attack Loki.
"Stop, Feitan!" Nobunaga's cold voice stopped him.
"What?"
"Don't move. Stay put. We made a promise; we should keep it."
"What?! You dare order me?!"
Nobunaga threw Killua to Feitan, who caught him and stepped on him.
"I saved you. Stay put. We made a promise."
"You!" Feitan frowned, glaring at Nobunaga.
Machi said, "Feitan, since Nobunaga agreed, let him continue. We won't interfere until they finish."
Feitan coldly snorted. Kurapika finally relaxed. He'd regretted Feitan almost attacking.
Nobunaga sheathed his sword and approached Loki. "Ready, Flame Kid?"
Killua, on the ground, coughed, finally able to breathe. He looked at Loki.
'Loki sacrificed himself for us.' Not dodging, letting the enemy attack. Even with Loki's strength, he'd probably be seriously injured.
Killua clenched his fist, moved by Loki's actions.
Boom! Nen erupted. Nobunaga smiled coldly.
"Flame Kid, Uvogin's death is on you, but I admire you. You dared to make this condition to save your companions."
Nobunaga lowered his head, preparing to draw his sword.
"Don't worry. After you die, I won't hurt them."
A green aura surrounded his sword. Without hesitation, he drew his sword. "Laidō Master: anyone who entered his attack range would be instantly killed."
Green Nen gathered on the blade. Nobunaga dashed towards Loki, appearing before him instantly. Nen surged; the air vibrated. An invisible storm erupted from Nobunaga's feet, spreading outwards. A green blade appeared, a semicircular arc, swiftly cutting through the air. The attack was before Loki.
'So fast! Laidō!' Killua's eyes widened in terror. He'd felt Nobunaga's terrifying Nen, but now he realized Nobunaga was a top Laidō master even without Nen. He couldn't see the sword's movement; he only saw the blade when it was before Loki.
