Chapter 12: Chapter 11: The Echoing Depths
Kai rested against the base of the ancient tree, his breathing still uneven after the intense battle with the Rootstalker. Tiny stood guard nearby, its massive body scanning the treeline for any signs of danger. Stinger hovered in lazy circles above, keeping its usual, restless vigilance. Glow perched quietly on a low branch, its golden light faint but calming.
The clearing was peaceful again, but Kai's mind wasn't.
"That Rootstalker was no joke," he muttered to himself, glancing at the **Resonance Crystal** in his hand. Its faint glow pulsed rhythmically, as though alive. "If something like that was guarding this tree, what else is out here?"
The system chimed softly in his mind, as if answering his question.
---
**[New Area Discovered: Deepwood Grove – Inner Zone]**
**[Area Description: The heart of Deepwood Grove is said to house forgotten relics and ancient insect species. However, the closer you get to the center, the more dangerous the creatures become.]**
---
Kai's eyes widened. "Inner Zone, huh? Sounds like there's more to this place than I thought." He looked at his team, his resolve hardening. "Alright, team. Let's push deeper. If there's something worth finding out here, we're not stopping now."
Tiny clicked its mandibles in agreement, and Stinger buzzed eagerly. Glow, while still tamed and not bonded, fluttered closer, its light brightening slightly as if to show its support.
Kai tightened the straps on his satchel and set off down a narrow path that led deeper into the grove, the dense forest growing darker and wilder with every step.
---
The air grew heavier as Kai ventured deeper into the grove. The trees here were ancient, their twisted branches forming an almost impenetrable canopy that blocked out the sun. What little light reached the forest floor came from faintly glowing fungi and the occasional flicker of Glow's wings.
Kai stopped abruptly when he noticed something strange: the trees ahead were covered in thick, silken webs. The strands glistened faintly in Glow's light, and the air was filled with an eerie stillness.
"Webs," Kai muttered, narrowing his eyes. "And a lot of them. That's… probably not a good sign."
The system chimed.
---
**[Warning: You are entering the territory of a colony of Silkfang Spiders. Travel with caution.]**
[Tip: Silkfang Spiders are territorial and aggressive when provoked. Their webs are highly adhesive but can be burned or cut through with sharp tools.]**
---
Kai gritted his teeth. "Great. Giant spiders. Just what I needed."
He glanced at his team, formulating a plan. "Alright, here's the deal. Tiny, you're on defense as usual. If anything jumps out at us, hold the line. Stinger, stay in the air and keep an eye out for ambushes. And Glow…" He hesitated, looking at the moth. "Just do your thing and keep the light going. We'll need it to see what's coming."
Glow fluttered in response, its golden light brightening slightly.
With his team ready, Kai carefully stepped into the webbed forest, his movements slow and deliberate to avoid triggering any unwanted attention
