Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Escape
Chapter 110: Escape
Surge's cries echoed from below— salty tears, along with the rain, merged into the equally salty seawater.
Giovanni overlooked this scene from above, his expression calm despite the chaos. He only moved his lips slightly. "What a pity."
He turned his head to look at Jubei's approximate location underwater, raised his hand to point, and gently waved it to give his Beedrill an order. "Use Pin Missile on these locations."
Beedrill struck with full force, one needle after another shooting down. When the needles landed underwater, they created splashes and trails, their speed slowing considerably.
Jubei, in the seawater below, saw the Pin Missiles falling from above. His pupils contracted, and he immediately urged his Staryu to dodge. It quickly swam away, escaping the encirclement of needles.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The strengthened needles exploded in the water, stirring up massive waves that pushed Jubei and his Staryu even further away.
When he stabilized himself, he glared up at Giovanni, roaring in his heart. Damn brat, why are you so troublesome? Can't you just die obediently? Bastard! He furiously pounded the water, about to give orders to his two Sharpedo.
It was just that due to the waves, he didn't notice that the current around him was slightly different. He also didn't know that behind him, a pair of crimson eyes and a giant silhouette were constantly approaching.
When the seawater returned to calm, a massive Gyarados, nearly six meters long, had silently appeared behind him. It just stared straight at him, its incredibly scarlet and violent gaze indicating that this Gyarados was a bloodthirsty monster. It was a powerful, senior-level Pokémon, very close to the Gym Leader level.
If all five of his Sharpedo were present, this Gyarados might not have been a problem— but now, he was at the end of his rope.
When Jubei finally sensed the situation behind him, he felt his body go cold, his scalp tingling. He slowly turned his head, and the sight of the Gyarados completely terrified him.
Only then did he realize that Giovanni's actions just now had been to create this very situation. He, a senior-level expert, had actually been ambushed by a brat. He looked up in disbelief. Though he couldn't see, Giovanni's dark eyes seemed to be coldly staring at him, filled with mockery.
Jubei opened his mouth and let out a hysterical, gurgling roar. No! this can't be!
"ROAR!" The massive Gyarados opened its gaping maw and swallowed him and his Staryu in one gulp, just as his own Sharpedo had done to others earlier. After eating them, the Gyarados was still not satisfied.
It swam around, swallowing the two Sharpedo that had been killed, and also the one that had fainted. Jubei's remaining two Sharpedo, upon seeing their master and companions killed, immediately went berserk, furiously swimming towards the Gyarados and fighting with it, churning the area into a violent whirlpool.
Giovanni, still in the air, sensed the dissipation of Jubei's energy below and saw the three huge energy masses fighting together. He had a complete grasp of the situation. He did not stay to reap the benefits; there were too many unstable factors on the S.S. Anne.
"Hurry up!" he instructed Archer and Mars. "Take this chance to leave quickly!"
Though they didn't know how Giovanni had resolved the predicament, they still unconditionally trusted him. The two of them quickly urged their Water-type Pokémon to take them and flee into the distance.
Looking at Surge and the other boy, who had pushed away their Water-type Pokémon and were grieving alone, Giovanni told them coldly, "You two too! Do you want to betray the sacrifices of others?! If you want to wait for death here, then die!"
After speaking, he urged his tired Beedrill to fly downwards, find a large enough piece of the wreckage, and pull him away.
Surge and the remaining young boy, upon hearing Giovanni's words, remembered Matisse's final words. They gritted their teeth and hugged the Water-type Pokémon they had just pushed away.
"Go!" Surge told the other boy. "We can't die! We can't let the Captain down! I want to fulfill his dream for him! One day, we will have a ship bigger and safer than the S.S. Anne, sailing freely on the sea!"
The two Water-type Pokémon carried them, swimming continuously, catching up to Giovanni and the others. Giovanni sensed them catching up, and the coldness on his face quietly faded a little.
As the oldest among the boys, Surge was already intimately familiar with navigation routes. "Giovanni, although the night is still very deep, I remember that if we sail in this direction for two hours, there will be a small island."
"Alright," Giovanni said, not surprised. "I'll trust you." Surge, who would one day become the captain of the largest cruise ship in the Kanto region, certainly had some talent.
Boom!
A sky-high blaze erupted in the rainy night. The pillar of fire caused by the explosion of the S.S. Anne behind them was dozens of meters high. The giant cruise ship, like the Golden Beauty, slowly sank into the sea. The battle seemed not to have ended, and it was unknown who would be the final victor.
The explosion triggered colossal waves, spreading continuously, pushing Giovanni and the others while also threatening to engulf them. The exhausted Beedrill advanced furiously, refusing to let its master fall into this danger.
