In the urban area of New York, near the parking area of the spaceship, a heavy silence hung in the air.
"It's finally over."
After receiving reinforcements from Quicksilver, War Machine, Wong, and others, the group led by Iron Man had finally taken down Thanos' three generals— Ebony Maw, Supergiant, and Cull Obsidian— who had been attacking New York!
These three generals had fought alongside Thanos in space for many years, and each one of was them was incredibly powerful.
On their own, there were few on Earth who could defeat them. However, the Avengers, the New York Sanctum, and the forces from Carl's kingdom stationed in New York were not to be underestimated either.
The Scarlet Witch, who had fought from beginning to end, was mentally exhausted. She sat down on the grass by the side of the road and asked, "The crisis here in New York has been resolved. Should we head to Wakanda now?"
"Logically speaking, Wakanda's forces are stronger than ours. They should be able to secure the final victory," Tony said, his Iron Man suit covered in scars.
He removed his helmet, revealing a weathered, exhausted face, and looked at King, who was supporting Doctor Strange, breathing heavily. "The most important thing right now is to protect the Time Stone with Doctor Strange."
"I can take him back to the New York Sanctum," Wong quickly replied.
Tony shook his head sharply. "No, right now, no Sanctum is secure enough."
"We're safest when we're together," Rhodey, wearing the War Machine armor, chimed in.
No one disagreed.
At this point, they were all that remained of the high-level fighters in New York, and if they weren't safe, there was nowhere on Earth that would be.
Wanda, supported by Quicksilver, stood up and said softly, "Let's count how many of us still have any combat ability. If there's anyone left, they can go reinforce Wakanda. My energy and stamina are nearly depleted; I can't continue fighting."
Quicksilver added, "I'm okay, but I need to take care of my sister."
"I'm fine, and I have plenty of ammo," Rhodey said, flashing a wide grin.
"I can go too; at worst, I'll have Friday fight for me," Tony shrugged.
Spider-Man scratched his head and said, "I can go too, but I don't want to leave New York too far. Aunt May is still here."
Tony clapped him on the shoulder and reassured him, "Don't worry, I'll have Happy look after Aunt May."
Everyone looked at Wong and the still-unconscious Doctor Strange. The two of them were obviously planning to stay behind to defend the New York Sanctum.
"Alright then. Rhodey, Peter, and I will head to Wakanda for reinforcements. You two stay here to defend New York and the Stone," Tony decided quickly. "As for transport..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a fighter jet descended from the sky, slowing down as it landed on the grass, kicking up debris and dust.
The rear hatch of the jet opened, and Eddie, dressed in a black combat suit, stepped out. Upon seeing him, Spider-Man greeted him first, "Eddie!"
"I thought you weren't going to fight," Tony said as he walked toward Eddie.
"I'd like to, but it's useless," Eddie shrugged helplessly. "Ever since the last battle with the superpowered beings, the Symbiote Venom inside me has been in hibernation. No matter how much I try to summon it, nothing works. Without being able to transform, I'm just a regular person."
His powers and abilities all came from the parasitic Venom, which, for some unknown reason, had gone dormant, essentially leaving him powerless.
"At least you can fly a fighter jet," Tony teased as he prepared to board Eddie's fighter jet with Rhodey and Peter to head to Wakanda.
Just then, the Scarlet Witch suddenly widened her eyes and looked toward the sky above the city. "What is that?"
"What?" Everyone else turned to see what she was staring at. They spotted a fighter jet shaped like a donut rapidly approaching the center of the city from the direction of Wakanda.
"No way," Tony said, his instincts kicking in as chills ran down his spine. Before anyone else could react, he quickly called out to King, "Wong! Can you open that Mirror Dimension?"
"Yes," King responded quickly. He gestured for Spider-Man to support Doctor Strange, then formed a circle with his hands. Sparks flew in the air as a portal to the Mirror Dimension was created.
"Everyone, get inside! Hurry!" Tony's voice was unusually urgent. Everyone followed his command, including Eddie, and rushed into the Mirror Dimension.
The round portal of the Mirror Dimension vanished from the lawn, and just as it disappeared, the donut-shaped spaceship landed on the road nearby.
A beam of light struck the ground, revealing a tall, muscular figure wearing the Infinity Gauntlet.
Inside the Mirror Dimension, Tony's expression turned serious as he gazed at the figure emerging from the spaceship through the portal's barrier. "I was right— it's Thanos!"
"That's Thanos?" Everyone else tensed up, their hearts racing.
Rhodey's throat went dry. "His spaceship came from Wakanda... could it be...?"
"Yes, Wakanda has been defeated," Wong said, pointing to the real world outside, specifically at the Infinity Gauntlet on Thanos's left hand. "He's already obtained three Stones— the Reality, Soul, and Mind Stones."
Tony forced a bitter smile. "He's after the Time Stone. If he gets four, it's game over for us."
Wong spoke solemnly. "Don't worry, we're safe here. Right now, apart from Doctor Strange and me, no one in New York can open a door to this place."
"Let's hope so," Tony sighed, his unease growing stronger with each passing moment.
On the streets of the real world, Thanos arrived and scanned the surroundings. His gaze eventually fell on the road, where the bodies of Cull Obsidian, Ebony Maw, and other aliens lay.
"The battle just ended not long ago."
Without showing any emotion for his fallen subordinates, Thanos squinted and shifted his gaze toward the fighter jet parked on the lawn. It seemed he had noticed something. He walked toward the lawn where the group had previously been.
Although they were separated by a barrier of another world, the group inside the Mirror Dimension instinctively held their breath, not daring to speak.
Thanos suddenly raised his eyes and stared into the air. He spoke cryptically, "You're there, aren't you?"
Inside the Mirror Dimension, Rhodey exclaimed, "He found us!"
Wong shouted, "Don't panic! He can't see us!"
"No, I know you're there," Thanos said with a cold smile, as if he had seen through everything, confronting the group through the Mirror Dimension's barrier.
There was something that could cross space— souls and spirits. With both the Soul Stone and the Mind Stone, Thanos could directly see the distant souls of Tony and the others.
"Even if he knows we're here, he can't come to us," Wong tried to calm everyone.
"I can't come to you, but you will open the door for me."
As soon as Thanos finished speaking, the gem on his gauntlet blinked.
Inside the Mirror Dimension, Wong suddenly raised his hands involuntarily and began to draw the circles for opening a portal!
