Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Mechanical God Tumat
"I will not lose to you!"
With a loud cry, Raditz suddenly jolted upright, gasping for breath.
After a moment, he realized he was facing a white metal wall. Where was he? He glanced to the side and saw the orange-haired girl asleep beside him, an empty drink can still clutched in her hand. The surrounding space was small—aside from the rest cabin where he lay, there were only various walls and sanitary facilities.
This was inside a spaceship. Raditz breathed a sigh of relief.
It seemed he had managed to escape from the metal planet after all...
"Raditz! You're awake!" Vladi suddenly rushed in, exclaiming with relief.
"Finally, I'm alright. Though my shoulders and back still hurt a bit." Raditz winced.
He looked around and asked, "Where is this? What happened to Boundless?"
The last thing Raditz remembered was falling into the orange-haired girl's arms—everything after that was blank. He had fought desperately against the chip, activating the hidden destruction program and forcing it to reverse itself, destroying Boundless.
"This is the Rebels' spaceship. Boundless was destroyed so quickly that your own ship didn't have time to recover its systems, so you're resting here for now," Vladi explained. She pointed toward the cabin door where a large group of people crowded the main cabin. "Everyone's here."
"Then she..."
"She took care of you all day," a voice suddenly sounded from outside the door, light and elegant like a gently flowing stream.
Following the sound, an old man walked in.
He also had orange hair and wore simple clothes. Though not tall, he carried himself with dignity. He bowed politely to Raditz. "Thank you for saving my granddaughter Zangya. This poor child is the only remaining descendant of our family. She has a kind heart, and after you saved her, she hasn't left your side until now."
"Zangya?"
Though the orange-haired girl had forgotten her own name due to the devastating experiments, the old man wouldn't be mistaken—and neither was Raditz! Zangya... wasn't that the name of one of galactic overlord Bojack's subordinates? Looking more carefully, except for slight differences in the ears and eyes, the girl was indeed strikingly similar to that Zangya!
If his guess was correct, how could this Zangya have become...
Raditz was puzzled.
"What are you thinking about? Get dressed," Vladi said with a smile, nudging him.
"Dressed for what?" Raditz was startled.
"See for yourself."
Vladi pointed at his body, tossed him some old clothing, blushed slightly, and turned around.
Only then did Raditz realize he wasn't wearing anything. Not just his upper body but his lower body was completely exposed. Thinking back to his final battle with Boundless, he had rushed through intense flames when he was already near exhaustion. His clothes must have been destroyed then, becoming completely unwearable.
He took the old garments and put them on. Though the fabric was rough, it adequately covered him.
Vladi waited until he was fully dressed before turning around again and handing him a sphere. "This is a gift from the Tumatians—a thank you for saving them."
"A gift?"
"You'll like it. Let's let you get acquainted." Vladi smiled mysteriously, picked up the sleeping Zangya, and walked out with the old man.
The hatch closed, leaving Raditz alone with the dark golden sphere.
Seeing its appearance, Raditz felt a twinge of apprehension—it reminded him too much of Boundless, whose chip had also been housed in such a sphere.
He cautiously touched the ball, tapping it lightly with his finger. Ripple-like waves spread across its surface. The sphere instantly disintegrated and reassembled, transforming rapidly into a small mechanical bird.
"You're awake. It only took one day to recover from such injuries. Your physique is truly remarkable," the mechanical bird said in a surprisingly pleasant voice.
Raditz was taken aback—a spherical object turned into a bird! "What are you?"
"My name is Mechanical God-Tumat. I am an intelligent assistance machine created by the Tumatian. From now on, I am your assistant." The mechanical bird landed in front of Raditz, facing him directly. "I've been observing you since yesterday. I know your name is Raditz."
"You said you're my assistant?" Raditz asked.
"Yes, I was made to help people complete various tasks."
Mechanical God-Tumat—the name sounded quite impressive, but its function didn't sound particularly powerful. Assisting with tasks? It seemed like an automated machine for serving drinks or taking pictures! Raditz carefully examined its claws and sharp beak, as well as the dark gold wings folded like fans, thinking: This thing actually looks quite handsome.
"How many machines like you exist?"
"I'm the only one. It's impossible to create another work of the highest caliber like myself." Mechanical God-Tumat stated confidently, with an unmistakable hint of pride.
Its manner of speaking was quite interesting—unlike Boundless's cold indifference, this AI showed traces of human-like personality. This was the latest and most elite technological creation of the Tumatian. It might not be as powerful as Boundless, but in Raditz's opinion, it was better.
Raditz chatted with it for a long time, the two becoming acquainted like new friends.
After a while, Goku and the others came to visit after hearing Raditz had recovered. They discussed when to leave and replanned their route.
After all, the situation on Earth wouldn't wait for anyone—they needed to find the Dragon Balls as soon as possible.
Everyone expressed their gratitude to Raditz, and when the time came to depart, they all gathered to see them off.
The spaceship landed on a new planet where Raditz and his companions restarted the "HOPE" and embarked on their journey amid everyone's farewells. Zangya stood beside her grandfather, waving continually at Raditz, her delicate lips pouting like a rose waiting to be kissed.
This scene lasted only a moment before the spacecraft ignited its engines, streaked past everyone's eyes, and ascended into space.
...
The collapsed remnants of the metal planet drifted through the vast universe, with a few very small fragments flying in different directions. A faint light remained in one piece, countless tiny chips densely embedded within it, flying toward Earth.
Another piece of debris was constantly absorbing the surrounding fragments, rapidly growing larger as it consumed nearby space junk and metal plates, condensing into an integrated body.
Two other active pieces each scattered in different directions across the universe.
Had Raditz been there, he would have recognized them as the fragmented remains of Boundless...
