Chapter 1: The Annihilation Maker
(The Previous Version of this fanfic also came with its own problems so I have decided to give it a rewrite as well.)
In a luxurious office sat two men, one seemed to be in his late 20s, with a neatly trimmed beard and short black hair. The other was an old man in a black suit and tie as he looked at a file with curiosity.
"Let's see what we are working with. Your name is Samuel Corvin, 29 years old, Assassin for Hire. Best of your trade, very impressive for a world with no magic in it."
Samuel had his arms crossed with his feet planted firmly on the floor.
"If I can, I would like to ask what I am doing here. Last I remember, I was shot through the head by my girlfriend."
The old man nodded.
"You were. Your organization made every single one of you a sleeper agent and you two were planning on defecting so they took care of both of you. If it makes you feel any better she killed herself when she learned what she did."
He sighed as he covered his eyes as that was the last thing he wanted to happen.
"I see, it hurts to hear that. She was too good for our rotten world. What will happen to us now?"
"She has passed on. I will introduce myself, I am Karaskan, a God. You could say we are Gods of Reincarnation. You were selected as random to be reincarnated. We tried to offer the same deal to your love, but she chose to give you her wish for a normal reincarnation."
Samuel looked down as he processed what he heard.
"We are only supposed to get one wish?"
Kasaran nodded.
"Yes, and at random. I won't keep you here long as I can tell you are not in the right state of mind."
Kasaran began typing away at his computer before he 'loaded' up the two wishes he had available. He hit randomize causing his computer to start going through trillions of options.
Many were absolute garbage some were god tier as was expected. The Computer randomizer eventually stopped at the first gift.
"Annihilation Maker, what a wonderful surprise."
Samuel smiled to himself as if that was from a simpler time in his youth.
'DxD, how many years has it been.'
"Not a bad reminder of a better time, now for my lovely Elanore's gift. Show me what she got me."
"Of course."
Once Kasaran hit the randomizer the same thing happened with the computer going through hundreds of options. Eventually, what it said made Kasaran smile.
"By my beard, a pure World Sage bloodline."
When Samuel heard the word World Sage he grinned.
"Is it what I think it is?"
"Yes, it is. You will be loved by mana, your blood will be closer to the Elixer Of Immortality, strength will flow from within, and your mind and soul shall know no damage. Your lovely girlfriend gave you a great gift."
Samuel sighed as he knew she was gone, but he would not forget her.
"I am ready to go."
"I hope you find your place in your next life wherever that is."
When the god snapped his fingers, Samuel's soul vanished as it was sent to his new life.
—-
Samuel's soul once it was brought over to his new world was in need of a new body and it found one. The year was currently 1982, and at Captain Joe Byrd Cementery the largest Prison Cementery in Texas, a newly executed innmate who had been unclaimed by any family or friends was burried in the prison cementery.
The man had been named Melvin Wilkins or as he had been called by his victims, The Butcher. He had been a prolific serial killer of girls and young women in the 40s and 50s in his early 20s and 30s. He had then been later captured in his 30s where he spent the next 20 years on death row.
He was finally executed in late 1982 making the man 62 at the time of his death. The corpse was 6'4, caucasian, with dark brown hair which was recently cut. The Wilkins had been killed by lethal injection and he had been dead for only 5 days.
The deceased body was soon possessed by Samuel's World Sage Soul. The moment his soul took over the body, the transformation began to take place Energy from the planet and atmosphere began flowing into his body before it was rapidly converted into Mana.
This mana then flowed into his soul in a torrent causing the body to glow a bright blue. The sheer concentration of mana was so extreme that it became liquid. The damage caused to the body by decay, age, and the lethal injection began to heal as new life flowed into the corpse. Its aged features began to contort into the likeness of Samuel and glowing burning veins of liquid mana flowed through the corpse's veins and arteries burning away the weakness in it.
The heart began beating again as life returned to him with a renewed force. The organ itself began to grow in complexity as a magic matrix was carved into its surface.
The Liquid Mana rushing through the body began mixing with his blood and genetics as the mythical blood of a World Sage formed. Wilkin's frame was stocky, but affected by growing age.
Now, those muscles expanded even further and the skeleton of Wilkins was infused with a surge of liquid mana into the marrow. The bones and muscles began twitching and snapping as they were rebuilt. The skeleton turned a bright silver as dense mana flowed through his bones making them far more sturdy than humans.
Wilkin's aged features were completely reworked into that of Samuel down to the most minute feature. With life returning to the body, the final part was the brain. When the flood of Liquid Mana fell surged into the most important organ, the memories of Wilkins were burned away.
In their stead, all of Samuel's memories were worked into the brain along with the neutral pathways which had to change. The process was rapid with the brain and after a few more moments, the process was done.
Samuel's soul settled into its new mighty vessel and with that, awareness returned. When Viktor's eyes opened, they were glowing a bright electric blue like gemstones. The glowing blue veins began to fuse into his tissues with the flood of Liquid Mana fusing with his blood.
In a flood of power, the blood of a World Sage formed in his veins. A World Sage was from a novel called Life Hunter and they were effectively mighty sorcerers who could shape magic with ease.
Their blood functioned as an elixir of immortality that could keep them in a fight even after they endured life-ending wounds. This form of immortality applied to their souls and they could almost not run out of magic.
Once the process was done, Samuel took a deep breath before he reached up to touch the top of his coffin. As his senses spread through his body he knew what to do.
He surged a flood of mana into his palm before he unleashed a titanic blue blast incinerating the 6 feet of soil above him. The blast continued for hundreds of meters before it detonated high in the sky.
He then stood up from his back, crouched down, and lept out of his grave. He took another deep breath before he released it.
"It is good to live."
He looked down at himself seeing that his prison jumpsuit was torn in a few places from his increased muscle mass. In his previous life, as an assassin, he had undergone genetic engineering to make him a superior assassin.
He wasn't taller than that by much so he was 6'4 or 6'5 like his previous life. He reached up and ran his hands across his face. He was quite familiar with himself and it was perfect down to the details.
He lowered his hands before he began to walk away from the graveyard. As he did, he glanced down at his jumpsuit as walking around in this was not going to be a good idea. As such, he placed his hand on the suit before he began to focus.
Under his control, his prison attire began to change. His orange pants became a pair of black jeans, his shoes turned into a pair of steel-toe boots, and his shirt became a black shirt tucked into his jeans with a large leather jacket around him.
With a smirk, he began walking away from the graveyard knowing that law enforcement would be investigating why a grave was blown up and why there was no corpse.
As for him, he looked at his hands as even now he could feel the flood of mana in his body.
After the initial surge, the rest was being made internally meaning he was not dependent on outside sources for his power not just that he could feel Annihilation Maker, one of the High Rank Longinus that could destroy the world in the wrong hands.
That was in a human or hybrid, but he was something more, a World Sage with nearly infinite mana. His soul itself was surging with a constant stream of mana which was being absorbed by the Longinus itself.
He knew that the Sacred Gear would adapt and become stronger than before. He just had to make use of it and push it harder. He closed his eyes as he pictured what creature he could create.
Since he wanted to fit in and not draw attention, he had an idea. He clasped his hands together and he began to surge his mana into Annihilation Maker which caused his shadow to begin growing and glowing a deep purple.
His advanced mind quickly pictured his target and from his shadow, the towering form of Barricade from the Transformers franchise emerged. Annihilation Maker could make creatures the user imagined and Cybertronians applied as well.

Barricade instantly knelt waiting for instructions.
"Barricade, transform into your car mode we need to blend in."
The large Cybertronian nodded.
"At once."
With a nod, the Cybertronian began to transform into his car mode which was a 2005 Ford Saleen Mustang. The passenger side door opened for him before he sat inside. Once he was in, Barricade shut the door before he drove off down the road. As for Samuel, he leaned the seat back before he rested his head on his palms.
He had much to do especially if he wanted to master his powers. He was an assassin for his entire life, but now he could be something more than just a petty killer. He could be the one in charge of his fate, but depending on where he had been sent. He would need to do his homework, so he looked over at the computer that came with the police car.
"Barricade, this computer do you think it can work?"
"I am not sure, Lord. I will try."
While still driving, Barricade began to try to connect to any system as the internet didn't become a thing until 1983. The World Wide Web on the other hand went public in 1993. Through the magic that created Barricade and his own Cybertronian systems, Barricade managed to get a connection to several computers in the state.
"I have a connection."
The computer swiveled toward Samuel who began to type away at it. It wasn't perfect as he needed a stronger connection, but he managed to learn some things.
"The date is September 3rd, 1982, curious. The month and day are my birthday, but the year is wrong."
He continued to type away at the computer as he tried to gleam anything more useful. As he typed away, and Barricade continued driving he managed to find something curious.
It was a report from a year ago, in 1981 that there was an unexplained explosion in Houston Texas which was investigated by Law Enforcement before S.H.I.E.LD agents arrived and took over.
Seeing that name, made Samuel smile.
"What do you know, S.H.I.E.L.D."
Barricade continued driving, but he was curious.
"S.H.I.E.L.D, my Lord?"
He nodded.
"It stands for the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division. They deal with Supernatural, high-tech, alien, or unexplained events. Knowing them they will investigate the sight of my rebirth since my escape was something major."
"What do you plan to do?"
Samuel shook his head.
"Nothing, let them study the grave. This body belonged to another before I took over, with the difference being quite large. The cemetery I broke out of is in Huntsville, Texas so drive toward a city center."
"As you wish, my Lord."
Barricade drove even faster and since he was a Police Cruiser, Samuel felt unbothered. He just relaxed and let Barricade do the driving.
