The Moon.

After spending a quiet night in Ōeyama, Kaito was silently summoned back by the paper clone he had left in the lunar castle, right on schedule.

His spiritual perception unfurled from within the room, swiftly enveloping the entire castle before expanding outward.

In the adjacent room, Madara, lounging lazily on his couch, keenly sensed something and instantly activated his Rinnegan.

A few seconds later, the purple hues faded from his eyes, and he lazily rolled over once more.

In another room, the imprisoned Toneri sat motionless like a puppet whose strings had been cut, his eyes closed.

Neji sat cross-legged in his own room, deep in cultivation. A golden crystal hovered before his eyes, wisps of ocular power being drawn from it into his pupils. His eyes remained wide open, unblinking, his brows furrowed as if enduring pain, sweat beading on his forehead.

In yet another room, Tōka and Ruka were engaged in conversation. Tōka sat composed as ever, while Ruka paced anxiously in circles.

The silent corridors were filled with wind rushing in through the shattered floor-to-ceiling windows.

In the vast hall, remnants of a meal still littered the dining table.

Outside the castle—

Sasuke sparred with Suigetsu in a duel of swordsmanship.

Wielding a tachi, Sasuke nimbly dodged and weaved through the gaps of Suigetsu's sweeping greatsword strikes.

Meanwhile, Izuna and Hikaku clashed in a battle of ninjutsu.

The two wielded an array of fire-style techniques with godlike precision, heating the surrounding air to scorching temperatures, yet neither could gain the upper hand.

Karin and Hinata engaged in hand-to-hand combat.

Both seemed to have improved significantly recently, though their fight remained far from intense.

"Seems like everyone's doing well."

Kaito stretched lazily, withdrawing his spiritual perception before pushing open his door and stepping out.

As he passed the neighboring room, Madara also emerged.

"Good morning, Madara-senpai."

Kaito waved casually.

"What are you up to?"

Madara leaned against the doorframe, his robes disheveled, as he combed his fingers through his tangled mane of hair.

"Just checking in on everyone." Kaito smiled.

"Hmph." Madara adjusted his clothes, then strode past him, heading toward the great hall.

"How are things in the shinobi world?" Kaito followed alongside him.

"Proceeding smoothly. The Five Great Nations' Allied Shinobi Forces have already entered the Land of Rain."

"How long do you plan to keep watching from the sidelines?" Madara rubbed the back of his neck.

Kaito chuckled. "You already know the answer to that."

"Heh." Madara let out an ambiguous laugh.

"Getting restless?" Kaito asked.

"Bored."

Madara paused, glancing out through the corridor's broken window at Izuna and Hikaku's battle in the distance.

"If you're bored, why not go give them some pointers?" Kaito suggested.

Madara shook his head. "No need. Izuna and Hikaku's combat styles are already well-established. They just need to keep refining them."

"What about Sasuke?" Kaito looked toward the other side. "Maybe he's more your type of fighter?"

"What nonsense are you spouting?" Madara shot him a sidelong glance. "That kid's too much of a fool."

"...Sasuke really isn't the strategic type," Kaito conceded with a nod.

"If not for you," Madara remarked, "given the circumstances back then, that brat would've been played like a fiddle."

Kaito thought for a moment before sighing. "Pretty much. When I first met him, he was about to foolishly walk right into Orochimaru's hands. And with Itachi and Obito in the picture, who knows what would've happened to him?"

"Hahahaha—" Madara's laughter echoed through the corridor.

"He's actually quite sharp when it comes to learning," Kaito mused.

"He just doesn't understand people," Madara cut in bluntly.

"A shame, but his way of thinking's already set." Kaito shrugged. "Maybe he'll change as he grows older?"

"Even if he doesn't, it doesn't matter."

Madara leaped through the broken window, landing lightly before soaring into the air, hands forming seals.

"Fire Style: Great Fire Annihilation!"

A sea of flames engulfed both Izuna and Hikaku.

"Tsk tsk tsk, couldn't resist after all, huh?" Kaito watched from afar, a smirk tugging at his lips.

Shaking his head, he levitated, floating out through the broken window before ascending higher.

Gliding over the battlefield, he rode the wind across the sky, arriving at the floating temple.

Inside the grand hall, Chiri sat solemnly before the Tenseigan stone carving.

"Chiri-senpai." Kaito approached from behind. "How's it going?"

"Almost done." Chiri's eyes remained fixed on the carving, her pupils flashing crimson.

Kaito narrowed his eyes, carefully sensing the stone's energy.

"Indeed, it's nearly complete—just in time." A note of delight colored his voice.

Chiri slowly closed her eyes and smiled. "At least we won't miss the deadline."

"You've worked hard." Kaito reached out, hovering his hand over her eyes. A soft glow emanated from his palm before he withdrew.

"Thank you." She blinked. "That's much better."

Her eyes glowed red once more as she refocused on the carving.

"Honestly, your dōjutsu isn't something you'd normally get much use out of," Kaito remarked with a laugh.

"True. It's too troublesome." Chiri sighed. "When I was young, after learning what my Mangekyō Sharingan's ability was, I was so frustrated that even the joy of awakening it faded."

"Is that why you created the Izanami?" Kaito asked.

"Izanami…" Chiri chuckled faintly. "Both Izanagi and Izanami are too extreme. If sacrificing these precious eyes was the cost, there were far more possibilities than just those two techniques."

"Only you would say something like that." Kaito couldn't help but feel a bit speechless.

Not everyone has the talent to create forbidden jutsu like you!

"Is that so?" Chiri continued. "Perhaps it was fate. When I used Izanami, I sacrificed my left eye, preserving the right eye's ability—one I'd never used before. And now, it's finally proving useful."

"Your dōjutsu truly feels like it was made for this moment." Kaito nodded in agreement. "Without you, even if I wanted to rebuild the Pure Land, I wouldn't know where to begin."

"I once thought this ability was utterly impractical—the conditions were too strict. Yet now, it's about to play a pivotal role, with all the pieces falling into place." Chiri's tone turned wry. "Is this what destiny feels like, Onmyōji?"

"Though Lord Seimei said the world is merely a collection of natural phenomena, without consciousness…" Kaito stroked his chin. "I can't help but feel like it does have a will. My birth, your dōjutsu, and so many other coincidences—they all seem too perfectly arranged."

"Maybe it's the world trying to save itself." Chiri accepted the idea easily.

Kaito, however, shook his head. "There's no answer to that. And if the world truly has a consciousness, for me, that's something… hard to say if good or bad."
