Chapter 657: Endgame
In the midst of the battlefield,
Jasper looked at Calvo suspended in mid-air.
Although he was extremely angry, he forced himself to calm down.
To him, nothing was harder to accept than his fallen comrades' corpses being controlled by the enemy.
But there was no other way; after so much sacrifice, Jasper couldn't let his compatriots' sacrifices be in vain.
Anger was useless, Jasper could only calmly observe Calvo in mid-air, searching for any possible chance of victory.
However, after hearing Calvo's words, Jasper felt puzzled.
Seeing Calvo resurrect so many corpses, there was no doubt about his strength.
Moreover, Jasper could feel the surging power from Calvo.
Without a doubt, he was also a Hero Rank expert.
Upon realizing this, Jasper's heart sank.
Originally, the Isaac Alliance Army didn't have the upper hand in strength and relied on Jasper's top-tier combat presence.
Jasper alone was enough to tie up a large portion of Leader Rank enemies, greatly alleviating the pressure faced by the allied forces on the front line.
Now there was a new hero among the enemy.
This indicated the enemy did not lack Hero Rank experts.
Most importantly, the "honorable master" mentioned in Calvo's words was unimaginable to Jasper.
How could someone who commanded such a powerful hero be weak?
This undoubtedly cast a shadow over Jasper's heart.
"Hoo~"
Jasper suddenly took a deep breath, tightened his grip on the longsword, and looked at Calvo in mid-air with unwavering determination.
Thinking too much was useless; without defeating the person in front of him, all future considerations were meaningless.
After Calvo summoned the undead army, he controlled part of the undead creatures to surround Jasper tightly.
The other undead followed the undead towards the Isaac Alliance Army.
What surprised him was that those undead seemed disinterested in the undead creatures he summoned.
Calvo noticed some undead even kicked away the approaching undead.
Loathing the undead, wasn't the "unlimited resurrection" ability of the undead belonging to the Power of the Undead?
Calvo just glanced at the battlefield over there and then focused his attention again.
To him, the key to this war was only one person, the Golden Rank lizardman "Jasper" before him.
Since the war began, Calvo did not reveal himself but observed the situation from afar.
Originally, upon noticing Jasper's strength, Calvo felt at ease,
In his view, Jasper's strength was merely equivalent to that of a normal Golden Rank warrior.
Aside from rich combat experience, there was nothing remarkable.
In the siege by the undead army, even as a Golden Warrior, Jasper couldn't last long.
After all, warriors, unlike Mages, rarely possess wide-range destructive skills.
Calvo had never encountered such an easy task to complete.
But soon, as the divine protection of the small world descended, Calvo felt something was amiss.
Jasper's aura grew much stronger; most importantly, the holy and pure power on him made Calvo feel troubled.
Although Calvo didn't have a system panel, he could roughly perceive the effects of Jasper's divine protection status.
If left unchecked, Jasper's current state could even kill all the undead alone.
He was no longer an existence that could be overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
Calvo had to make an appearance.
If possible, he'd prefer to directly kill the lizardman High Priest Kuxue who caused all this.
However, he could sense that now Kuxue, though still devoutly praying, had completed the ritual.
Even if interrupted by others, it wouldn't affect Jasper's status anymore.
Although the undead can resurrect, allowing Jasper to recklessly slay the undead undoubtedly tarnished the glory of Kane Floating City.
This was something Calvo couldn't accept.
However, even though the two hadn't engaged, Calvo had roughly gauged in his mind.
Given the special status Jasper possessed, he might be immune to many negative effects.
This was also a limitation for Calvo, who excelled at undead magic in this aspect.
Moments later, Calvo initiated the attack first.
Two Death Knights with deep, ghastly auras appeared below Calvo, rushing at Jasper with a fierce assault.
The Death Knights wielded their gleaming longswords, each step shaking the earth, the momentum as if to slice through Jasper and the entire forest to dust.
Seeing the two Death Knights appear, Jasper's eyes changed drastically.
Another two Hero Rank experts?!
Though these two Death Knights resembled other "resurrected" corpses in appearance, they were evidently much stronger.
But Jasper showed no fear; he gripped his longsword tightly, its light swift as lightning, intertwining with the Death Knights' black longswords, producing a clattering metallic sound.
Upon colliding weapons with the Death Knights, Jasper felt a chilling aura approaching.
But soon, this chilling aura vanished.
No time to think further, after a few parries, Jasper quickly dashed and retreated.
He could feel Calvo in mid-air seemingly had him in his sights.
That cold, cutting feeling on his back was unsettling.
