I Became a Digimon and Change Worlds Every Month

Chapter 16: The Possibility of Evolution

After escaping the hospital, Moss quickly took a headcount.

Vademon, Goblimon, Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, Kunemon…

Good. No one was missing.

[Evolution Paths: Fallen Evolution, Mutated Evolution]

At that moment, Moss noticed something new on her status screen.

A new evolution option had appeared—Mutated Evolution.

She opened the details and saw some familiar names pop up.

Garbagemon, Numemon…

And then—

HolyAngemon and Sanzomon?!

After breaking it down, she saw two key data points:

[HolyAngemon: 5%][Sanzomon: 1%]

HolyAngemon, like Angewomon, was a Champion-level Angel-type Digimon—except male in appearance.

As for Sanzomon, she was a female Digimon based on Tang Sanzang from Journey to the West, featuring a Buddhist nun-like design with a distinctly Japanese touch.

The percentages next to them likely indicated the success rate of evolving into them.

Moss muttered, "I now have a chance to evolve into HolyAngemon or Sanzomon."

She was speaking to Angewomon inside her mind.

As two beings sharing the same body, there was no reason to hide the existence of the system from her.

After all, aside from the uncontrollable isekai teleportation, the system's only real function was showing her potential evolution paths.

By sharing this information, Angewomon could help her analyze it.

Angewomon thought for a moment before explaining:

"A Digimon's evolution is influenced by mental state, physical condition, behavior, and actions.I suspect that because we just rescued these Digimon, it triggered the possibility of evolving into HolyAngemon or Sanzomon."

Moss nodded in understanding.

However—

Just because the option exists doesn't mean it's likely.

If she forced a Mutated Evolution, she was way more likely to end up as Garbagemon or Numemon than a powerful Holy-type Digimon.

Luckily, her Receive Magic allowed her to borrow power without fully evolving.

If she could draw HolyAngemon or Sanzomon's "card", then even without evolving, she could access their power temporarily.

Moss sighed, "Too bad all my current evolution paths are only Champion-level."

Whether it was Fallen Evolution or Mutated Evolution, her highest options were still Champion-level Digimon—not Ultimate.

That probably meant she wasn't ready for an Ultimate Evolution yet.

Angewomon comforted her. "Don't be discouraged. Ultimate Evolution is rare, even among Digimon."

If she were a wild Digimon, she wouldn't even dare to dream of evolving into an Ultimate-level Digimon.

For natural Digimon, evolution was extremely difficult—and Ultimate Evolution was nearly impossible for most.

Moss, however, was not disappointed at all.

"I'm not discouraged—I'm excited."

If she could get Ultimate-level power…

Even if only for a short time…

She could hold her own against strong enemies.

And if she was strong enough, she wouldn't have to fight at all.

Living without worry is another way of saying "living in freedom."

That was the life she wanted.

To achieve that, she had to get stronger.

Luckily, she had already found the perfect method.

Receive Magic—The Key to Growth Create the possibility of evolving into a strong Digimon. Use Receive Magic to temporarily access that power.

That was her path to strength.

Digivolution + Receive Magic = Best Combo!

Since Receive Magic would improve the more she used it, the key was Step 1—finding ways to unlock more evolution options.

Moss murmured, "As long as we create more evolution possibilities, we can grow stronger! …If I had learned Dragon Slayer Magic, I might have been able to evolve into a Dragon-type Digimon."

Dragon Slayer Magic gave users dragon-like physiology.

Only a dragon can kill a dragon. That's why it was called Dragon Slayer Magic.

But—

She had already left the Fairy Tail world.

Even if she were still there, learning Dragon Slayer Magic wouldn't have been easy.

Angewomon suddenly proposed, "Laxus is a Dragon Slayer Wizard. His magic contains dragon attributes. If we could absorb some of that magic, we might gain the potential to evolve into Slayerdramon."

Moss froze.

Slayerdramon?

The pink-haired husky-looking Digimon?

Slayerdramon was one of the Four Great Dragons in the Digital World, alongside Qinglongmon, Goddramon, and Breakdramon.

Dragon-type Digimon were icons of power in the Digital World.

Slayerdramon was incredibly strong.

The only downside was its appearance.

But that didn't matter.

She wouldn't actually evolve into Slayerdramon—she'd only use Receive Magic to temporarily borrow its power.

At worst, she'd end up looking like a beast-eared girl with scaly arms and claws.

…Which was completely fine in her XP preferences.

Cough, cough…

"Alright. Let's note that down and test it later."

Right now, however—

They were still on the run.

Moss continued, "Also, we should do more good deeds like today. If we increase our 'karma,' we can boost our odds of evolving into HolyAngemon or Sanzomon. That way, I'll have a higher chance of drawing their cards."

So it's basically role-playing?

By imitating the behavior of certain Digimon, she could increase the chance of evolving into them…?

Well—

Whatever works.

Speaking of drawing cards…

Moss suddenly remembered—

She hadn't drawn today's 10 cards yet.

"Let's find a safe place first. Then I'll do the draw."

Moss led the Digimon toward the city.

She was looking for DATS—the Digital Accident Tactics Squad from Digimon Data Squad.

DATS had a gateway to the Digital World, and only through that portal could she send these Digimon back home.

The problem?

She had no idea where DATS headquarters was.

How was she supposed to find it?

"Moss," Vademon suddenly called out.

"What?"

Vademon pointed toward the food district.

"Goblimon got hungry… and ran off."

Moss' face turned dark.

"That idiot!"

The other Digimon trembled.

To see the elegant and graceful Angewomon suddenly lose her composure and start cursing—

Her fury was real.

Inside her mind, Angewomon reminded her, "Watch your words, Moss. It affects your role-playing."

…And her image.

Moss took a deep breath, her chest rising and falling dramatically, then calmly asked:

"Can I just… let him die?"

Leaving Goblimon to fend for himself was an option.

Angewomon hesitated. "…That would be bad karma."

Moss sighed.

"Being a 'good person' is exhausting. Helping others is a full-time job."

Angewomon firmly replied, "A fallen freedom is not true freedom."

"...I was just complaining."

Moss turned toward the food district.

There, she noticed a news crew filming an interview.

A beautiful reporter stood beside a camera crew, speaking to the crowd.

And suddenly—

A brilliant idea struck her.

If she couldn't find DATS… She could make DATS find her.

How?

By getting on TV.

Moss smirked.

"Alright. Let's go."

(I appreciate all the positive reviews this is really driving me to continue!)
