Chapter 7 - Making a Lair (2)

Making a Lair (2)

[RichAndSuspicious – The most important aspect to consider when making a lair is enjoyment.
So rather than trying to make the lair well, I hope you feel happy while making it.]

I was crouched on the floor, holding my gently swaying tail with both hands, in order to listen attentively to the suspicious viewer’s words.
There were two main reasons why I was sitting on the cold floor despite there being many chairs available.

First, the chairs were too high for me to climb up.
Second, whenever I sat on a chair, my tail kept wagging and I felt like I might fall off.
‘So rather than stubbornly insisting on sitting in a chair,’

I thought it was a rational decision to compromise with reality and crouch on the floor like this.
Feeling quite proud thinking this choice itself was very reasonable,
The counselor who was watching me called out with a very flustered expression.

“Um… Ha-eun?”
Wondering why she was calling me, I made eye contact, and the counselor seemed to ponder for a moment.
Then she handed me a cushion with a pitiful expression and said,

“… How about sitting on this instead of the floor?”
The cushion the counselor gave me looked unimaginably cute and fluffy, so I almost unconsciously nodded, but
No matter how cute the cushion was, it didn’t seem quite right for an adult to sit on such a cute cushion.

So I forcibly held back my constantly wandering gaze and rejected it as maturely as possible.
“I’m okay.”
Feeling very proud that this was quite an adult-like response,

The counselor didn’t seem to think so, as she firmly placed the cushion in my hands and said in a serious voice,
“I’d like Ha-eun to sit here instead of on the cold floor… Couldn’t you sit on the cushion for my sake?”
It’s hard to refuse when she puts it like that.

I nodded to save the counselor’s face.
The counselor said “Thank you” and immediately returned to her original position.
I blankly watched the counselor’s back as she walked away.
Then I stared at the design of the new cushion I had received.

‘It’s cute.’
Even for me, a manly… well, not quite, but anyway an adult male, I thought the design was cute and I was pleased to receive such a gift.
Suddenly, the chat window started scrolling rapidly.

[Seorinseorin – Ha-eun likes dogs, I see. Big sister will definitely buy you a puppy doll as a gift.]
[RichAndSuspicious – You’ve got a decoration for your lair. That’s a good achievement.]
[EternalC-RankHunter – I came because they said there was a cute kid on the community, and it’s really cute.]
[NyangNyanNyanya – Wow, is it okay for a baby to be this pretty? Already a fully formed beauty.]
:

Chats much more numerous than before.
Wondering what was going on, I checked the screen and saw that the number of viewers had somehow increased to 424.
‘424 people…?’

Why so many? Could it be a bug?
I couldn’t understand why there were so many viewers, so I stared intently at the screen, but with no conclusion in sight, I gave up thinking about it.
‘I don’t know.’

Thinking that if it was an error, it would resolve itself later, I stood up.
“Then I’ll go look for a place to make the lair now.”
Having stood up, although still quite clumsy, I was about to set off to find a place to make the lair while introducing what I was going to do next, like other streamers do.

But realizing I needed to open the door to go outside, I froze in place.
‘I can’t reach.’
I never thought I’d be stuck at this point.
Realizing I had encountered a major crisis right from the start, I squeezed my eyes shut.

‘What should I do?’
At first, I thought about bringing a chair to open the door, but
Then I realized I couldn’t even climb onto the chair because I was too short, and fell into despair.
As I was blankly staring, realizing I couldn’t do anything on my own,

The counselor who had been watching me nearby smiled brightly and opened the door for me.
“Shall we go together with the teacher?”
Could the counselor possibly be an angel?

I bowed deeply like before to show my sincere gratitude, then left the hospital room to find a place to build the lair.

Although I had looked around the association with Seo-rin before, that was just a light tour.
This time, I tried to look around carefully to find a place to make the lair if possible, but…

‘It’s too big.’
Everything was made for adults, so it didn’t suit me.
Above all, it was obvious that making a lair inside the association would be inconsiderate, so I had no choice but to return to the hospital room.

Realizing that my modest goal of showing the viewers a nice lair had failed, I was feeling very gloomy when
I heard someone gently knocking on the hospital room door.
“Who is it…?”

Thinking it might be Seo-rin or Han A-rin, I asked who it was, but there was no answer.
As I was glaring at the door with a suspicious expression, the counselor opened the door for me and said,
“Who… Ah?”

The counselor looked outside and made a somewhat surprised sound.
Then she smiled brightly, picked up a box that was below, and said to me,
“Someone left a gift. Here, Ha-eun, a gift for you.”

At those words, I blankly looked at the box placed in front of me.
A box containing all sorts of toys, starting with a blanket.
They looked obviously very expensive, so I shook my head, feeling I couldn’t possibly accept them in good conscience, when the suspicious viewer sent a message.

[RichAndSuspicious – I sent these thinking they might be necessary for making a lair. It’s common sense that adults usually help when making the first lair.]
Come to think of it, making a lair would require a lot of materials, so it’s natural that hatchlings, who are just young children, would have difficulty making one alone.

So thinking it’s natural for adults to help,
I bowed again to the suspicious viewer and expressed my gratitude.
[FamilyNameGivenName – ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ The tail always wags when happy. Are you crazy with cuteness?]
[RecruitingGradStudents – Wait just a little, I think I’ve found a room.]
[ShikanokoHoshiTantang – Deer, beware of deer. They are not deer.]

There’s one strange chat mixed in, but I can probably ignore it.
I bowed in gratitude to the viewers who were saying only nice things, then took out the things in the box.
‘A blanket?’

The first thing that came out was a blanket.
It seemed they gave this to make the floor or ceiling.
So I decided to start the basic construction using this and looked around.

‘The space under the desk would be good, right?’
Actually, there’s not really anywhere else to choose besides under the desk.
I approached the desk at one side of the hospital room, spread the blanket underneath, and placed the things from the box one by one on the floor.

‘Actually, I don’t have a preference for arranging dolls.’
I was just following what I remembered streamers doing when they received gifts from fans, decorating the gifts on the wall.
It was a bit perplexing as most of the contents were dolls, but

Since there wasn’t much difference between taking out one or ten, I just took them all out and displayed them.
[CandyMooMoo – Don’t tell me you’re taking out the dolls to show off to us? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ]
[Seorinseorin – You know you’re cuter than the dolls, right?]
[RichAndSuspicious – It’s very impressive for your first time making a lair.]

It’s embarrassing to receive praise when anyone can see it’s a sloppy lair.
Still, I don’t dislike it, so I’m smiling with a “hem hem”, when
My tail, oblivious to the situation, started wagging at the fastest speed I’ve seen yet.

“Ah!”
It’s too difficult to hide emotions because of the tail.
As I was hugging my tail, deciding to look for clothes or something to hide it,

I heard someone knocking gently on the hospital room door and calling for the counselor.
“Is Ms. Jung Su-ah there?”
A gruff male voice.

The moment I heard that voice, I felt a bit embarrassed about the very crude lair I had made and started to panic.
‘Above all, it’s embarrassing that I was getting excited making this when I’m not even a child.’
Speculating that my mind might have changed to match my younger body, I was feeling ashamed when

I saw the man, who had received permission from the counselor, flinging the door open.
A muscular man who looked to be in his 30s or 40s.
Seeing him, I wanted to hide the lair even more, so I tried to hide it with my whole body on tiptoes, but

Realizing it wasn’t hidden at all due to my small body, I could only lament inwardly.
Just as I was regretting that I should have made it secretly outside,
“Oh, are you trying to clean up? Uncle will help you.”

The muscular man approached with big strides and started demolishing my lair very coldly, removing the blanket.
“Huh…?”
To be honest, I was a bit surprised, but not particularly angry or sad.

But my body didn’t seem to think so, as I suddenly felt tears welling up drop by drop.
This somewhat unexpected physical reaction was very bewildering.
I wanted to quickly wipe them away with the back of my hand to show I wasn’t crying, but

The moment I wiped them, the teardrops grew even larger, and gradually tears started flowing uncontrollably.
[Seorinseorin – Ha-eun ㅠㅠㅠ Don’t cry ㅠㅠㅠ]
[RecruitingGradStudents – I’ll come right there, so please wait just a little.]
[MunyaMunya – Oh no, she’s crying, what should we do.]

Just as I was very flustered by my body not listening to me,
I could feel the psychology counselor quickly approaching and picking me up.
Being held like this was very embarrassing, so I pushed away to show I was okay, but

The counselor instead pulled me in strongly and started patting my back.
“Mr. Sung-hyun, I’m sorry. It seems that because of what Ha-eun has been through… seeing the lair being destroyed must have shocked her.”
“Oh… a lair? I’m sorry, Ha-eun. Uncle was just trying to help. Um. I’ll make it again for you, so won’t you forgive me?”

Feeling wronged, I shook my head to indicate this was a misunderstanding and tried to tell the truth, but
My voice was choked with tears and wouldn’t come out well, so no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t convey the truth.
‘This is stupid.’

Thinking I didn’t know what I was doing, I tightly closed my eyes as if giving up.

Around the time Ha-eun was crying profusely,
A speculative post rose to popularity on the community.

[Guessing the reason why the dragon baby is crying so bitterly feat – Terrorism

I heard from an association official that this baby was rescued from a prison.
Puzzled by the word prison, I looked it up and found there was a large-scale terrorist incident a month ago, and most of the people living there went missing?
There’s other evidence besides this, but I’ll post an organized summary later, so judge for yourself when you see it.

Anyway, it seems highly likely that this dragon baby was brought to the prison during that terrorist incident.
If we think about this in reverse, it means that from a precious and safe home where she was living with her parents,
She was suddenly dragged away by strange intruders who destroyed her home.

In other words, in a state of trauma where the home that should protect her could be destroyed at any time,
I think she’s crying because she saw the ‘lair’, the home she courageously made again, being destroyed once more. Yeah.ㅇㅇ]
ㄴ No way… if this is true, the kid’s mental state must be really messed up
ㄴ Ha. I’m so angry but I don’t know what to do.
ㄴ What is the association doing? Tell them to hurry up and find the culprits.

It was a speculation with extremely flimsy evidence, mostly just inferences.
Whether it was true or not, it was more than enough to ignite the anger of the hunters.
So normally, this terrorist incident should have been buried by this point, a month later.

[Recruiting hunters with investigation skills.]
[Offering a reward to anyone with related information, contact me]
[Planning to investigate the prison, anyone want to come along?]
It started to be highlighted again, and posts suggesting to dig into the incident began to appear.
