I Created Scientific Magic

Chapter 594: Lightspeed Positioning Method and the Palm that Shields the Horizon

Floating in the Endless Void, the otherworldly realm had no seasons or years, and time seemed to lose its meaning here. If not for an atomic clock, Kode wouldn't even have known he'd been here for almost three months.

The task of rescuing cherished magical creatures had also become increasingly difficult. Firstly, all the easier targets had already been captured, leaving only those skilled in hiding, lurking deep within mountain caves.

Secondly, those Flame Demons from the main world that would self-destruct at the slightest provocation were truly troublesome. Additionally, the emergence of time rifts was completely unpredictable. Recently, several airships sent to find new magical creatures had been attacked. Although there were few casualties, these incidents significantly disrupted their operations.

"Is this the magical creature we are set to capture?" Hill, looking excitedly at the three-headed beast in the book, asked.

"Exactly, this is a new species discovered yesterday. I've named it the Tri-headed Horror. It might be a variant of the multi-headed lizard because they share many similarities in appearance..." Kode explained.

This would be their last target as the otherworldly realm had become increasingly dangerous. The council had already issued a phased evacuation order, and there were about four days left.

Having not returned to the kingdom for a full three months, Kode was looking forward to seeing what wonders awaited him back at Eternal Star...

After all, between the two worlds lay a time-lapse discrepancy of seven times, meaning that over a year and nine months had already passed on Eternal Star!

Paired with the day-and-night urban transformation of Eternal Star, every wizard traveling between the two worlds couldn't help but wonder if they'd jumped forward to the future.

This peculiar phenomenon further validated the magical star's quantum theory that the flow of time isn't constant—it changes based on speed and spatial variations.

Kode took more than ten seconds to pull himself out of these thoughts. He then cleared this throat, ready to assign tasks for this operation.

But before he could speak, an attendant burst in urgently.

"Lord Kode, an emergency message from the council, all personnel in the otherworld should evacuate immediately."

"Now?" Kode frowned, knowing they'd located the lair of the Tri-headed Horror, and they could finalize everything in just half a day.

"Yes, immediately, right away!" the attendant asserted with certainty.

"Alright." Kode looked at Hill and the others, who seemed somewhat reluctant, and finally sighed. Since the council had issued an urgency order, it meant the situation was quite dire.

As for what it was, the attendant reporting didn't know, and there was no need to explain any further as the entire land began to tremble violently.

"What's happening? Is it an earthquake?" Hill said, alarmed, nearly hitting his head against a nearby pillar.

"It's likely some kind of large-scale attack!" Kode spoke rapidly, his expression grave as he urgently motioned for everyone to evacuate as quickly as possible.

In fact, it wasn't just the ground trembling—it was the whole planet!

...

Five minutes ago, in the otherworld at the kingdom's external command center, senior council members were discussing the kingdom's next steps.

Now that all key materials from the otherworld had mostly been transported back to Eternal Star, it was time for a complete evacuation. Some senior wizards even suggested that they could entirely obliterate the otherworldly realm, denying the gods of the main world a bridgehead for attacking Eternal Star!

However, many wizards opposed this idea, arguing that it was a pity to abandon an entire world so hastily.

Moreover, the gods of the main world were currently no match for them. The invading Flame Demons from the main world were also just a minor nuisance. They could continue to defend this world and exploit its resources until it was utterly exhausted.

"Don't forget, we can't afford to defend against two invasions simultaneously!" Rafael warned those overly optimistic wizards.

The reason the otherworld could still resist the main world was solely because Lynn had focused most of his energy here, repairing the continual time-space rifts. However, they now faced threats from extraterrestrial civilizations in the universe—an even more urgent matter.

If they redirected their forces, the stalemate in the otherworld would collapse instantly, and the Space-Time Gates left here would only aid the enemy's invasion!

Harrov and others supported Rafael's views. The discussion then shifted mainly to when it would be most appropriate for the council to evacuate and whether or not the otherworld needed to be destroyed...

Lynn was not involved in the discussion, but a growing sense of unease weighed on him—he just couldn't pinpoint its source...

He even suspected that the enemy might have already started attacking, but he was unable to detect it.

What exactly went wrong?

Lynn pondered deeply before delving his consciousness into the otherworld, beginning to observe this world from a finer perspective.

Usually, he rarely did so because this was a dying world, and thus Lynn had never expanded his divine domain into the core of the otherworld.

If the connection with the otherworld was too deep, then when this plane collapsed, he would inevitably be greatly affected.

Upon closely examining the otherworld once again and lingering on each blade of grass, he soon noticed something amiss—places where space-time rifts had opened harbored some barely detectible remnants of power.

Lynn instantly realized that these should be the residues of magic power left by the Flame Demons who had infiltrated the otherworld and self-destructed.

Normally, such faint residual powers would be assimilated by the divine domain fairly quickly.

This time, however, it was different. This particular form of magic was incredibly stubborn, even capable of resisting the erosion of the divine domain, and because the power was too faint, unless it accumulated to a certain extent, it was hardly detectable.

Was this why the gods of the main world had always dispatched those creatures for suicide attacks?

Lynn quickly thought of this possibility. Clearly, these accumulated special magic powers could serve as coordinates. However, just as he was about to try removing this magic power, he made another discovery.

The entire plane seemed to be moving toward a certain direction...

Normally, this would not be a big deal because the otherworld had always been drifting aimlessly in the void, and in the boundless void, moving forward at a constant speed was no different from standing still without any reference points, making it impossible to determine the specific speed and direction. Yet, this inexplicable feeling was very pronounced.

"Chairman Lynn..."

The sudden shout interrupted Lynn's thoughts. It was Harrov speaking, as they were discussing whether to spend a few more days gathering more resources to transport back to Eternal Star, when they noticed Lynn's continued silence, which seemed odd.

"Now, immediately! Inform all personnel still lingering in the otherworld to evacuate!" Lynn stood up, issuing the order with a grave demeanor, then, looking at the shocked faces of the council members, he spoke again.

"Gentlemen, the war has already started. Gather all the interstellar warships prepared for battle."

As his words fell, Lynn did not offer further explanation. His figure vanished from the spot, and at the same time, projections scattered in various locations were also retracted. This was a move to concentrate power in response to the looming threat.

Lynn's mysterious declaration of war followed by his immediate disappearance left the wizards present in a haze of confusion. Fortunately, they all understood that this Star of Magic would not be joking with them at such a time, and likely they had not detected the danger with their own abilities.

"Do as he said, everyone!" Vittorio took a deep breath before continuing to inquire, "How many people are still in the otherworld now, and how long will it take to guarantee a full evacuation?"

"A total of two hundred seventy thousand, most of whom are guards, with the remaining thirty thousand comprising transport, reconnaissance, and collecting laborers as well as wizards. It will take at most half a day to fully evacuate..." a council member responsible for statistics promptly reported.

"Then inform them, as soon as possible!" Alade roared, slamming his fist on the table.

...

Elsewhere, Lynn, having retracted all his dispersed power, was floating above the otherworld.

As his power grew, Lynn was increasingly able to sense that this world seemed to be pulled in a certain direction, moving forward. After contemplating for a moment, he stretched out his hand and lightly tapped in the air.

Instantly, several dazzling beams of light shot out toward all directions.

The speed of electromagnetic waves in a vacuum is the speed of light, and the speed of light is the upper limit of speed that can be attained in the universe. This constancy makes light an excellent reference point under specific circumstances!

Merely a second later, Lynn had deduced from the formula that they were traveling at a rate of ten thousand kilometers per second in a certain direction, and he certainly would not let the situation continue unchecked.

However, he first needed to clear away the residues of magic serving as coordinates that remained in the otherworld.

With a thought, wisps of grayish-white mist soon emerged within the otherworld, at every point where the space-time rifts had appeared. Since relying solely on the divine domain could not erase the divine will lingering in this magic, it was time to try using Death Divine Power!

All things must meet their end, such is the strength of the Death Divine power. Even though he had only obtained a small portion of this Death Divine power, it was already enough!

Under the corrosion of the grayish-white mist, these special magic powers that existed in the otherworld like maggots in dead bones gradually dissipated.

The pulling force on the otherworld also became weaker and weaker.

However, Lynn's expression became even more solemn because the enemy's counterattack arrived swiftly—a hand, immense beyond imagination and nearly obscuring the entire view, extended out from the distant void. Its five fingers grabbed the otherworld tightly, like seizing a football...
