Chapter 597: Slaying Gods Again, The Godhood of Lies
The attack of Ankara, the God of Lies, was undoubtedly very sudden. While Lynn was engaged in a aerial combat with the God of Flames, Ankara began to lay out her trap. She quietly infused her own Divine Power into the surrounding area, even deciphering and disguising it as Lynn's magic power, undermining the Neutron Shield from within....
Lynn, bound by the threads of the Shadow Net, immediately fell into danger.
These threads bore some resemblance to his own Lock of Arcane, both being constructs of High-dimensional Space, stretching from four dimensions to entangle macroscopic matter, microscopic energy, and even souls.
Ankara, in her immense form as the Blood Desire Mother, tentatively used her segmented limbs to climb over the Shadow Net towards Lynn, after confirming that there was no chance for him to escape, she became impatient and swung her huge segments to move forward.
The complexion of the God of Flames was terribly ugly because Ankara's Shadow Net trapped Lynn but also isolated herself.
Until now, he was the one taking the hits, confronting the opponent head-on, and now, when it was time to reap the rewards, the God of Lies intended to monopolize everything without sharing a bit!
"The divine authority should be mine, Ankara! Don't forget, without my assistance, you would never have captured him so easily!" the God of Flames said, quite irate.
From the previous confrontation, it was clear that the opponent was a deity of medium Divine Power. If he could obtain the deity's divine authority, he would certainly be able to escape the plight of being a lesser god.
This was why he had actively requested to step into this dangerous divine realm...
However, Ankara, the God of Lies, did not care at all about what the God of Flames had said. The threat of a lesser god meant nothing to her. Finally having caught a deity as prey, Ankara wanted it all for herself!
More importantly, she was well aware that once the great Harrie arrived, she would have no claim over this divine realm. Hence, divine status, divine authority, and Divine Power were the true prizes she could seize for herself.
As the two gods from the main world began to dispute over how to divide his 'corpse', Lynn's expression remained calm, without a trace of panic from being trapped.
Because the most dangerous enemies are those lurking in the shadows with unknown strengths and capabilities. Once they are out in the open, they lose their threat.
This enigmatic calm somewhat hesitated Ankara, even slowing her advancing motion by half a beat... but in the end, she could not resist her longing for divine status and authority.
The only thing she feared now was the possible presence of a great god, but judging from her earlier probing, it seemed he was not in this plane; otherwise, she would have been crushed long ago, not still here waiting!
"It should be about time!" At the moment the massive Blood Desire Mother drew near, Lynn suddenly spoke.
Ankara, the God of Lies, who was about to strike, paused her movement, because as Lynn spoke, a strong sense of impending peril filled her mind.
Although Ankara was loath to believe that the god bound by the Shadow Net posed a threat to her, the sense of crisis surging within her could not be faked, and her eight segmented limbs abruptly hoisted the Shadow Net.
The densely interwoven shadow threads in the void enveloped Lynn completely, forming a sealed cocoon around him.
However, even so, the danger was not eliminated, and Ankara realized that the peril did not come from Lynn inside the Shadow Net....
In the boundless void ten thousand kilometers away from the shadow-covered area, five warships dealing with an energy beast suddenly changed direction. Within their forward reflector mouths, dreadful electron beams rapidly converged.
After several seconds of charging, five positron cannons breached the barriers of time and space, firing towards the alien sky above.
Ankara's Shadow Net was capable of weaving a separate Independent High-dimensional Space, which was hard to detect and hit by outsiders without knowing its coordinates.
This was the reason she could remain undetected by the side of Lynn and the God of Flames just before.
However, Ankara overlooked a critical detail: with Lynn situated inside the Shadow Net, he himself was the perfect coordinate!
Although he retracted most of his power to cope with the gods from the main world, there was one exception – the main battleship! After all, part of that power was used to trap Aira in the power furnace and could not be withdrawn lightly, which also meant that, if necessary, the two parties could still contact each other!
As Ankara realized what was happening, the positron cannons were charged and ready. In just one-twentieth of a second, they crossed tens of thousands of kilometers and struck the Shadow Net!
The intricate and layered High-dimensional threads were blown open, creating several huge voids, and an unprepared Ankara was hit by a positron cannon, vaporizing much of her body....
The hundred-foot-tall Blood Desire Mother let out a sharp and furious screech. Although the positron cannon blew apart part of her body, it had no substantial effect on her.
What truly terrified Ankara was the sudden eruption of ashen-gray fog of the undead from within the cocoon the moment the shadow power weakened.
A dazzling lightsaber cut through the sealed cocoon, severing all the entangling shadow threads around it!
Lynn had indeed been trapped within the Shadow Net, but he was far from powerless to resist, his cooperation was intended to lure out the deity hiding in the shadows like a venomous snake!
The roles of hunter and prey changed in an instant.
Ankara realized this too, that by bringing the other into the Shadow Net, it was she who became the prey trapped in the cage!
Amidst piercing shrieks, the colossal Blood Desire Mother retreated, rapidly retracting the surrounding shadow threads, attempting to flee from this closed-off space-time.
Unfortunately, it was already too late to retreat, as Lynn lifted his hand the space-time around him began twisting and converging, invisible shadow threads started to shatter layer by layer, then the antimatter sword in his hand cleaved down from above, targeting the locked-on God of Lies, Ankara.
As the God of Lies, revealing her true form was stepping into danger, but the temptation to devour a deity was too great, so great it led her to expose her own weaknesses willingly!
The antimatter sword, as expected, sliced through the shadowy defenses around Ankara, striking directly at her body, as grotesque and fierce as a spider's.
The entire space shook violently, an infinite energy storm wreaked havoc, and countless tiny black cracks appeared out of thin air.
Ankara's body was also torn apart by the surging waves of energy, her angry and piercing howls echoing through the void.
Within a few seconds, the artificially created independent space collapsed.
Lynn's figure slowly emerged in the alien sky, while the God of Lies, Ankara, had disappeared without a trace, her body annihilated by the impact of the antimatter energy, her divinity severely damaged, held in Lynn's palm like shattered Crystal Stones.
The God of Flames, who had been blocked outside the Shadow Net, was so frightened that his body shrank, the blazing fire around him transitioning from an expansive, outward state to a restrained, circulating one.
Just a moment ago, he was cursing the damned Ankara for trying to hog all the spoils, but now his heart was filled with nothing but panic and dread.
A medium-tier divine being had been slaughtered just like that!
If he had entered the Shadow Net along with her, he probably would not have fared much better.
Even Lynn was somewhat surprised; despite launching a surprise attack and having weakened the opponent with positron cannons from star system-level warships, the spider's resistance was unexpectedly poor.
However, since the opponent sent a weaker deity to the front and attempted a sneaky two-against-one attack, it only proved that her power in direct combat was far from outstanding among her peers, perhaps even among the lowest!
Immediately after, Lynn's gaze turned, not without malice, to the remaining God of Flames.
The God of Flames, looking at the divinity in Lynn's hands, hesitated between surrender and flight, but ultimately solidified his resolve to fight, for in the void, powerful thunder was brewing.
Clearly, Ankara's death had unleashed a far greater energy, the great god Harrie was about to descend!
Lynn also instantly realized that the electromagnetic field in the alien territory was going out of control…
Was there a divine presence related to electromagnetic force?
Electromagnetic force is one of the most fundamental forces in the universe, and a being with a similar divine authority could be unimaginably powerful. Lynn, having exhausted himself in an earlier bout, had no intention of battling further and simply crushed the already fractured divinity in his hand, having seized Ankara's divine authority, he then issued the command to retreat.
At that moment, most in the alien realm had already evacuated, dozens of Wizards combined their strength to toss out all the hydrogen bombs reserved by the council, using the series of exploding mushroom clouds as cover to abandon the Shattered City and retreat back to the Moon Fortress in the vast cosmos.
The last to evacuate were naturally those ten star system-level warships; compared to Lynn's close-quarters battle, their fight was much simpler, attacking from a great distance at super-high speeds with the spaceships. It seemed the deities blocking them did not intend to fight to the death either, so overall, there was no great danger.
Upon receiving the signal to retreat, they broke off from the tussles with the energy behemoths and pushed their engines to the limit.
In the engine room, Ella, who had been enduring patiently, keenly sensed this change in energy extraction and suddenly opened her eyes.
The time had come!
