Chapter 411: Chapter 411: Gary, Wallace vs. Rayquaza
BOOM!!
With an ear-splitting explosion, Blastoise was blasted backward.
Like Swampert before it, Blastoise's Protect could only absorb part of the impact. It didn't nullify the attack completely—but it was enough to prevent a direct hit.
Rayquaza immediately fixed its furious gaze on Gary, the trainer who had summoned Blastoise. Recognition flashed in its eyes—the same human it'd seen when it first awoke.
"RRAAAOOOHH!!"
The Sky High Pokémon roared.
With a sudden flick of its claws, Rayquaza unleashed a Dragon Claw, slicing the air with a fierce shockwave aimed directly at Gary.
"Oh no—!"
Gary's eyes widened. He hadn't expected Rayquaza to target him so directly. What grudge could it possibly bear?
He reached for Tyranitar's Poké Ball—but before he could act, cries echoed from above.
"Kyaaah!"
"Zap-zap!"
"Screee!"
From the sky, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres descended in formation. In unison, they launched Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, and Flamethrower, intercepting the air blade and dispersing it.
Gary's three Legendary birds had remained on standby. Seeing their Trainer in danger, they sprang into action without hesitation.
"RRAAGHH!!"
Rayquaza recoiled at the sight of the three Legendary birds. Fury surged in its veins. Though they were revered as powerful beings, they—fellow Legendaries—were aiding a human?
Without a sound, Rayquaza launched forward like a javelin, targeting Moltres with unrelenting force.
"Flame!!" Moltres cried, launching a counterattack with a roaring Flamethrower, but it barely singed Rayquaza's emerald scales. The dragon's momentum didn't falter.
In a flash, Rayquaza struck with brutal force. A green streak cut through the air as it slammed into Moltres.
"Moltt—!"
The flame bird shrieked as it crashed onto the platform, knocked unconscious in one decisive blow.
"Articuno, use Hail! Zapdos, assist it!" Gary commanded.
"Screeee!"
"Zap-zap!!"
While Zapdos couldn't summon hail directly, it generated thunderclouds to amplify Articuno's storm. Within seconds, the air temperature plunged, and hailstones began pelting the sky like bullets.
"ROOAARR!!"
Rayquaza howled in rage. It loathed cold weather. With a twist of its body, it soared upward and let loose a pulse of energy—Air Lock instantly dispersed the storm clouds, leaving behind only scattered mist and broken ice crystals.
"It's no use," Wallace called from behind. "Rayquaza has the strongest weather control. Nothing can override Air Lock."
"I know," Gary replied. "I'm not trying to change the weather. Just buying time."
Rayquaza's presence disrupted even the primal weather effects of Groudon and Kyogre—no other weather effects could persist in its domain.
"Blastoise, Hydro Pump!"
"Tyranitar, Stone Edge!"
Twin attacks launched skyward. A torrent of water surged from Blastoise's cannons, while jagged stones ripped through the air from Tyranitar.
But Rayquaza, despite its size, twisted through the sky with astounding agility. Its serpentine body looped and spiraled, easily dodging both assaults.
It glanced down, eyes glinting mockingly—as if to say, Was that supposed to hurt me?
Then, from the ground—
Zzzrreeee!!
Three Ice Beams fired simultaneously from below—Articuno, Blastoise, and Tyranitar working in unison. Rayquaza, caught off guard mid-flight, was struck head-on. A chilling aura spread across its body as layers of frost formed.
Within seconds, Rayquaza was encased in thick, glacial ice—ten layers deep, locking it in place midair.
"Now! Hit it with everything you've got!" Gary shouted.
"Blastoise, Hydro Cannon!"
"Tyranitar, Stone Edge!"
"Zapdos, Zap Cannon!"
"Articuno, Blizzard!"
"RAAAHH!!"
Rayquaza's body trembled as it shattered the icy prison—but it was too late.
BOOOOM!!!
Every attack landed at once. The sky lit up with the force of the impact. A shockwave rippled across the Aether Paradise Marine Platform.
CRASH!!
Rayquaza's massive body plummeted like a meteorite, slamming into the platform below.
KRRRAAK!!
The steel surface buckled beneath its weight. The ground quaked violently, support beams snapped, and the platform shuddered on the brink of collapse.
"Yes!!"
"You got him!"
Cheers erupted behind Gary.
He turned to see the platform workers, cheering in awe.
Wallace stood among them, bruised and panting. He had thrown himself into battle alongside his Milotic, Swampert, and Walrein to defend the civilians.
"Don't just stand there! Take cover!" Gary barked.
"Why? You beat Rayquaza already!" one worker replied.
Gary: "…Are you kidding me?"
These weren't soldiers—they were just clueless staffers. But still...
"ROOOAAARRR!!!"
A soul-shaking roar tore through the air.
Rayquaza's serpentine body surged from the rubble, sky-bound once again, trailing green light and righteous fury.
Gary's eyes widened. It's not just angry. It's humiliated.
"RRAAAAAHHHH!!"
The Sky High Pokémon spiraled upward into the clouds, and red light gathered around its mouth. It released a blazing Draco Meteor, hurling a ball of condensed energy into the sky.
The sphere exploded—detonating into dozens of glowing meteorites.
The skies rained fire.
"Everyone, get out of the way! That's Draco Meteor!" Wallace shouted.
He'd seen this move before. A typical Dragon-type might split off 7–10 meteorites at most.
But Rayquaza—
It unleashed dozens, maybe more. And each one burned with apocalyptic force.
"Blastoise!" Gary called.
"Kammy!!" Blastoise cried, stepping in front of its Trainer and projecting Protect.
"Zapdos, help Articuno—Light Screen!"
"Zaaap!!" Zapdos swooped down and spread its wings, casting a barrier over its fallen companion.
Tyranitar, unfazed by the falling stars, roared defiantly and activated Iron Defense, bracing for the impact with its own body.
BOOM!
BOOM!!
BOOM!!!
Meteor after meteor pounded the platform.
Flames erupted. Steel beams twisted. The Aether Marine Platform was engulfed in smoke, debris, and fire.
Silence followed.
Ash rained from the sky like snow.
Gary stood up slowly. The entire facility was scorched. Many workers had collapsed or fainted.
He frantically searched the field.
Zapdos and Articuno had fallen. Tyranitar remained upright—but its armor was cracked, and it was barely conscious.
The only reason Gary was still standing—
Blastoise's Protect had held. Just barely.
"Mr. Wallace!"
Gary rushed toward the collapsed Champion. Wallace lay motionless, his elegant robes torn and singed. Gary knelt and checked his breathing.
Still alive. Just unconscious.
Nearby, Wallace's Milotic, Walrein, and Swampert had all fainted—clearly having shielded nearby workers from the Draco Meteor's wrath.
