I, Gary, Want to Become a Pokemon Master

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Conquering Exeggcute

"Let's go and have a look."

Gary was brave and unafraid of encountering anything unusual. He quietly approached with Squirtle.

Using his height advantage, Gary could clearly see what was behind the grass. It was a small pile of leaves, with leaves and weeds floating around it. It was very strange.

"What Pokémon is it?"

Gary knew it was a Pokémon causing this, but he couldn't think of any Pokémon in the Kanto Region that would cover itself in this way.

No matter how he thought about it, it seemed that only Wormadam from the Sinnoh Region would do this. Wormadam uses leaves to cover its body to deceive its natural enemies.

"Squirtle, use Water Gun on that pile of grass," Gary ordered.

"Squirtle!"

The picked-up Squirtle also saw the small grass pile and spat a Water Gun, hitting the target accurately. The small grass pile hit by the Water Gun was instantly dispersed, revealing the true appearance of the Pokémon inside.

"Exeggcute!"

There were six light pink eggs. Except for the egg in the middle without cracks, the other five eggs had cracks, and each egg had a different expression.

One was smiling, four were angry, and one was sad.

Not only was the shell of the sad egg cracked, but the yolk inside could also be seen.

"Exeggcute!"

Gary was surprised to encounter an Exeggcute with gym potential.

Exeggcute is a very good Grass-type Pokémon, and its secondary attribute is Psychic. It can evolve into Exeggutor with a Leaf Stone.

Exeggutor's base stats are as high as 530, which is 5 points higher than Venusaur among the three starter Pokémon. Additionally, it has a rare Psychic attribute, making it highly valuable for training.

Moreover, Exeggcute's evolution requires the use of Evolution Stones. When high-quality Evolution Stones are used, the potential after evolution improves.

Although high-quality Evolution Stones are expensive, Gary is the grandson of Professor Oak. He can certainly afford a top-quality Evolution Stone.

In an instant, Gary decided to capture this Exeggcute.

"Exeggcute!"

Exeggcute was panicked. It was already dusk, and as a Grass-type Pokémon, its combat power would decrease at night.

This Exeggcute used weeds and leaves to cover itself because it felt the sun was about to set. Unexpectedly, it was still discovered.

"Water Gun!" Gary immediately issued an attack order.

"Squirtle!"

After an afternoon of fighting, Squirtle was in top condition and quickly spat a Water Gun.

When Exeggcute was in a panic, a transparent rainbow light barrier appeared in front of it, but the barrier did not block the Water Gun, which went straight through and hit Exeggcute.

This was Exeggcute's Reflect, which can defend against physical attacks, but Water Gun is a special attack, so Reflect naturally did not work.

The Exeggcute in front of him is a wild Pokémon, so it naturally doesn't understand these things. Pokémon living in this area mostly use physical attacks, and Reflect can defend against those.

But facing Squirtle, who has special attack skills, Exeggcute's Reflect is useless.

"Very good, continue the Water Gun attack," Gary saw that Exeggcute had little combat experience, and even though its type had an advantage over Squirtle, it couldn't capitalize on it.

Exeggcute was just as Gary guessed, wondering why its Reflect didn't block Squirtle's attack.

However, Exeggcute didn't give up and continued to use Reflect to defend, but it still didn't work. It was hit by Water Gun again. After being hit twice, Exeggcute's strength dropped significantly.

"Exeggcute!"

Exeggcute knew it would be defeated if it continued like this, and the six Exeggcute sprayed emerald green seeds at Squirtle.

"Leech Seed!"

"Use Rapid Spin to bounce it!" Gary recognized the skill and ordered immediately.

Squirtle retracted into its shell, used Rapid Spin, bounced all the seeds, and rushed towards Exeggcute, tackling its Reflect.

"Maintain this position and use Water Gun!" Gary ordered immediately.

Rapid Spin's shell sprayed Water Gun at the hole. Water Gun was accelerated by Rapid Spin, like a water blade, and kept hitting Exeggcute, knocking it several meters away.

Exeggcute fell to the ground, and the eyes of the six eggs were spinning in circles, losing their combat ability.

"Go, Poké Ball!" Gary threw the Poké Ball in his hand towards Exeggcute.

Bang!

The Poké Ball hit Exeggcute accurately and captured it.

The Poké Ball fell on the grass, shook slightly, and then stopped shaking.

[Ding! Mission completed, rewards have been distributed to the space backpack.]

"Great, I captured Exeggcute," Gary said happily. This was his first time capturing a wild Pokémon through battle. It felt great.

"Squirtle! Squirtle!" Squirtle also waved to congratulate. It had been fighting all afternoon but still didn't know what Pokémon Gary was going to capture. Now it finally had a result.

"Squirtle!"

Squirtle trotted over, picked up the Poké Ball, returned to Gary, and handed the Poké Ball to him.

"Thank you."

Gary touched Squirtle's head, took the Poké Ball, and checked the specific attributes of this Exeggcute.

```
```

"Chlorophyll ability, not bad!"

Gary was very satisfied with the ability of this Exeggcute. If it had the Harvest ability, it would have been a headache.

The Harvest ability has a 50% chance to regenerate a berry held by the Pokémon. This ability is designed for the game.

In reality, the Harvest ability doesn't help in battle, but it helps fruit farmers a lot, allowing fruit trees to produce more fruits.

For fruit farmers in the orchard, Pokémon with the Harvest ability are good at planting and are very popular with them.

[Ding! Issued task: Green Champion Team, capture and train the following 6 Pokémon/Pokémon: Blastoise, Pidgeot, Alakazam, Rhydon, Arcanine, Exeggutor.]

[Rewards: 10 high-level Rare Candy (for Pokémon below level 70, level +1) and 10 intermediate Rare Candy (for Pokémon below level 50, level +1) and 1 bronze crown and 1 silver crown and 1 gold bottle cap (for Pokémon below Legendary potential, potential level +1)]

"Green Champion Team!"

Gary was surprised by the task suddenly released by the system. He saw that the task required training 6 Pokémon.

Obviously, this was the team of Champion Green in the THE ORIGIN chapter. Champion Green was actually Gary himself.

"The rewards are very rich, and these Pokémon are also very worthy of training," Gary thought this task was pretty good.
