Chapter 6: Passing the Buck
Polsarlino smoothly shifted the responsibility and decisively made his escape, vanishing at lightning speed—truly deserving of the title "Navy's Fastest Man." Meanwhile, Nami was left standing in the wind, clutching a stack of schedules, completely bewildered.
Getting out of a mountain of paperwork was certainly a relief, but recruiting the Seven Warlords of the Sea was no easy task.
Pirates were an unruly bunch, and the Warlords were essentially pirates who fought other pirates. In terms of sheer arrogance, they were even more reckless and unrestrained than ordinary pirates.
Even if Polsarlino had the strength to subdue them, he couldn't exactly go all out—there were rules to follow. If he wasn't careful, things could get messy real fast.
Just as he was brooding over this headache, he spotted a familiar figure in the distance, directing navy soldiers as they loaded supplies onto a warship.
"Strawberry!"
Polsarlino's eyes lit up as soon as he saw that distinctive tall hat.
Strawberry was considered one of the core members of the Navy's hawkish faction. However, back when they were stationed at the G-1 Fortress, he had served under Polsarlino.
The two had a pretty good relationship. Notably, beneath that high hat of his, Strawberry had an absurdly tall skull.
"Admiral Kizaru?"
Upon seeing his former superior, Strawberry instinctively straightened his posture.
"Where are you headed?"
Polsarlino patted Strawberry on the shoulder with his usual lazy smile. This Vice Admiral wasn't exactly what most people would call a "good guy"—especially when dealing with pirates. He had no qualms about using rather... questionable methods.
That said, as someone dedicated to wiping out piracy, Vice Admiral Strawberry was certainly competent, which was why he had earned Sakazuki's favor.
"I'm under orders to hunt down the pirate 'Blood Demon' Locke."
Strawberry dutifully pulled out a bounty poster, showing a pirate captain with an 80-million-beri bounty.
Compared to the New World, where powerhouses were as common as cattle, pirates in the first half of the Grand Line were kept in check by the Navy. Those with bounties over 100 million were rare.
An 80-million-beri bounty was already quite high. If Locke wasn't an exceptionally strong and promising fighter, then he was an outright monster guilty of major crimes.
"This guy operates near the Calm Belt?"
Polsarlino casually flipped through the attached intelligence report and couldn't help but smile.
"That's right. Blood Demon Locke is extremely cunning. His ship has been modified into a paddle-wheeled vessel, allowing him to escape into the Calm Belt whenever a Navy warship gets close. The 117th Branch has tried multiple times to catch him, but he keeps slipping away."
Strawberry snorted coldly. No matter how sly a pirate was, they couldn't evade the Navy forever. This time, the Navy had deployed a warship capable of crossing the Calm Belt, and with a Vice Admiral from headquarters leading the charge...
No matter how clever Blood Demon Locke thought he was, he was doomed!
"Ahem, put the pirate hunt on hold for now—I've got a more important task for you."
Polsarlino casually tucked the bounty poster into his coat and flashed Strawberry a friendly smile.
As an Admiral, he wasn't just a high-ranking enforcer—he technically had the authority to mobilize any Vice Admiral or even an entire main fleet stationed at headquarters.
The Buster Call was a prime example of the power an Admiral wielded.
And so, before Strawberry even knew what hit him, Polsarlino successfully dumped the Seven Warlords recruitment task onto him.
The good news? Admiral Kizaru, in a rare act of conscience, decided to personally handle the recruitment of the Pirate Empress, Boa Hancock, meaning Strawberry wouldn't have to make a trip to Amazon Lily.
The bad news? Aside from Crocodile, who had recently been defeated by Straw Hat Luffy, there were still five other Warlords to recruit—each one an absolute pain to deal with.
To make matters worse, even Strawberry's fully stocked warship was commandeered by Admiral Kizaru under the excuse of "saving time."
His crew, utterly baffled, could only watch as they sailed away, leaving their own Vice Admiral behind.
"Hmm, the last time I visited Amazon Lily was a few months ago... I wonder if Hancock is still on the island?"
Polsarlino stretched out on his favorite beach chair on the deck and dialed Amazon Lily's Transponder Snail.
Fleet Admiral Sengoku wished every high-ranking officer worked as tirelessly as he did—hell, Sakazuki was even worse, practically a workaholic who wanted everyone grinding 24/7.
With the Summit War approaching, Marineford was about to become a madhouse. Staying there meant no time for leisure at all.
Especially after dumping all that paperwork onto Nami—if he lazed around in front of her any longer, his conscience might actually start hurting.
Better to lay low for a while. And what better place than Amazon Lily, a beautiful island paradise?
"Polsarlino-sama?! Is it really you, Polsarlino-sama?!"
A thrilled female voice rang out from the other end of the Transponder Snail. Even through the line, her excitement was palpable—so much so that even Polsarlino felt a little overwhelmed.
"Ahem, yes, it's me, Hancock. I'm currently en route to Amazon Lily—"
Before he could finish, the Transponder Snail echoed with a high-pitched squeal, followed by complete chaos on the other end.
It took a while before someone finally picked up again, but this time, it wasn't Hancock.
"Polsarlino-sama, our sister was about to sail out to meet you, but we barely managed to stop her..."
The exasperated voice belonged to Hancock's younger sister, Sandersonia. It was clear from her tone just how helpless she felt.
"Sister… your clothes…"
If one listened closely, they could even hear Hancock's other sister, Marigold, murmuring in the background.
"Sigh... Try to calm her down for me. I'll be arriving soon, so there's no need for her to come meet me."
Polsarlino hung up and sighed. If being too charming was a crime, he was probably the most wanted man alive.
The mighty Pirate Empress had turned into a lovestruck fool because of him—what a tragedy.
[Ding! Jotaro Kujo has issued a special request: Inviting @Polsarlino to his world. Do you accept?]
[Accept/Decline]
Just as Polsarlino was contemplating the absurdity of his life, a familiar chime rang in his mind—the notification from the Dimensional Chat Group.
Different worlds had different flows of time. While only a few hours had passed in the One Piece world, Jotaro Kujo's world was already reaching its climax—the final battle against Dio Brando.
Polsarlino returned to his cabin, instructed the sailors not to disturb him, and then accepted Jotaro's invitation.
