I play a Evil God in Otome Game

Chapter 165: The offensive against the Republic(4/4)

The war was suddenly about the recapture of Sarden. The Imperial presence in the city was minimal, and it still needed to prevent the risk of rebellion. Simon and Urien were not there. That meant George was trying to hold off the entire siege alone.

Or at least, he was trying. The dwarven cannons were about to break the walls, and the zeppelin had to retreat. If the mages weren't constantly repairing the walls, they would have already collapsed. The Republic's bombardment was relentless.

Inside the temporary headquarters, Imperial officers gathered, urgently trying to devise a strategy and organize the defense. The strength of the Republic's assault had been unexpected, and this would be George's first major test.

The immense pressure made George frown as he sank into deep thought. His only hope was for the army defending the flanks to return, but that was unlikely.

A large-scale teleportation was unimaginable. Thomas couldn't arrive in time. Thalia was too exhausted to cast an illusion on the enemy army. The only thing George could do was endure.

Yet no matter how much he endured, he could last only a day at most. The Republic had played its hand wisely, luring the Empire into a trap. The dwarves had played a role in this, but still, George had to admire the sheer level of planning.

Then, suddenly, an idea struck him. His face lit up with excitement and hope as he lifted his head. He lightly tapped the table to catch the attention of the worried officers engaged in heated discussion. When they turned to him, he took a deep breath and spoke.

"We may be in despair, but Creation is on our side," George said with a bright smile, ignoring the curious looks from the officers. His face gleamed with inspiration.

"The dwarves may aid the enemy, but in the end, we will win because we have a god behind us." George looked at the officers with a determined gaze. "If other races have superior cannons, then we have our god. We will receive His help, and with that, we will triumph!"

George then stood up with a serious expression. "I understand everyone's doubts, but we bled to take this city. Our brothers died for our homeland… We will honor their sacrifice by winning!"

George then drew his axe and smiled. "I will go out alone. I will destroy the enemy, and God will aid me."

"Commander, please, have you gone mad?" One of the officers objected strongly, but George silenced him. "If I die, I die, but I know that God will help me. Trust me."

The officers were visibly shaken. George dismissed them without further discussion. Unfortunately, Emily also seemed troubled by this. She soon entered the room.

She looked at George sternly. "George? You've really lost your mind. Facing an entire army alone—"

"Emily, trust me. I trust in God."

"Don't be a fool, George!" Emily snapped. "How did you become this stupid? A god has no reason to help you! No, you're staying here!"

"I've made my decision." George laughed and gently patted his sister's shoulder. "I'm not crazy. I know I can't do anything alone, but God can."

"Oh? And why do you think that? Did a divine revelation drop on your head?" Emily said mockingly, and George sighed. "Look, I understand you. But God has saved us before. If He wills it, He will save us again."

"And if He doesn't?"

"Then I die and am buried in the dry earth with honor. But at least I'll have died honorably," George said, more serious than ever.

Emily stared at George in disappointment. George, however, only smiled. "Did you know that Duke Alfred once destroyed the walls of New Camelot alone?"

Emily nodded. The Duke's feat of conquering the capital with a small army was legendary. Not knowing about it would be foolish.

"And what does that have to do with this?"

"It has everything to do with it," George said. "If the Duke could do something like that, then so can I."

Emily scoffed. "Are you seriously comparing yourself to someone descended from Gawain? Let me remind you, we have neither a powerful ancestor nor a divine weapon. We are just ordinary people."

George frowned. "That's exactly my point. The Duke's ancestor, Gawain, was not famous for his sword but for his courage and determination. I want to be remembered for the same thing—to sacrifice myself for my people."

"But we still have the city! Why are you trying to throw your life away with such stupidity? This isn't bravery; it's foolishness."

"You don't understand me, Emily," George said with a hint of sadness. "I don't care about Sarden. What I care about is the lives of my soldiers. If I can stall the enemy and take out as many artillerymen as possible, then I buy you all more time."

Emily's expression hardened. She slapped George across the face. The blow made his ear ring, but he didn't care. Emily's face twisted in anger, her body trembling.

"I've tried to protect you all this time! And now you're telling me you're walking to your death?! You—"

"I'm sorry, but there's no other way…"

Emily stared at George one last time in disappointment. She lingered for a moment before storming out in anger.

As his sister left, George fell into deep thought.

What he was about to do seemed insane, even to himself. Charging headfirst into an army of hundreds of thousands was suicide. But still, he was resolute.

From the beginning, he had witnessed miracles. Deep inside him, a small spark of hope burned. Like the heroes in legends who sacrificed themselves for their people, George chuckled dryly at his own thoughts.

"The God of the Supreme Darkness..."

George kneeled to the ground and prayed in a serious voice. "I hope you bless a madman like me and count me as one of your loyal warriors..."

"[Go and conquer...]"

When a voice echoed in George's ears, he smiled and stood up. He gripped the handle of his axe tightly and smiled.

The God had truly listened to him and would support him. With this assurance, George prepared to put on his armor. Gathering all his courage, he stepped outside.

The officers still appeared to be in panic. Ignoring them, he rejected their objections and set out. Along the way, the soldiers cleared his path and saluted him, as George walked toward the walls with a serious expression.

His gaze turned toward the guards protecting the City gates. "Open the gate."

The guards exchanged a glance for a moment. Each of them had their own thoughts, but they all shared one common thought: that this was utterly insane.

Still unable to object, they opened the gate. George smiled. Without saying a word, he stepped through the gate and walked forward slowly.

It was a rainy day, and the already cold air felt even colder. George furrowed his brows and looked ahead. He realized that the enemy had spotted him, and he grinned.

He drew his axe, and a big smile formed on his face. It was the lust for battle. George took a deep breath. Suddenly, a great divine power strengthened his body, and dark black smoke filled his entire being.

"This feeling..."

For a moment, George's eyes turned pale red. As he took a step forward, the ground cracked, and George marveled at the sight.

"This is the power of the God... Incredible..." George said, as his axe evolved, surrounded by a massive wave of Mana with a purple-black aura...

George stretched his body. His muscles expanded and tightened like never before. His hair blew in the wind, and for a brief moment, his vision blurred, but it quickly cleared, and his sight improved more than ever.

It didn't end there. His blood pumped faster. Veins became more prominent, and an eerie atmosphere spread. At the same time, George's eyes became emotionless, and the absurdly large darkness that spread across the ground tainted and withered everything in its path.

Tentacles rose from the ground, suddenly piercing the earth and wrapping around George in a protective manner. It was as if they had their own will, and they all turned toward the enemy...

"This must be a demon..." the enemy commander said in fear, immediately giving the order. "Attack! Destroy the demon!"

The hesitant and shocked army came to their senses and suddenly began running and attacking. George took a step, then another. Suddenly, he accelerated and began running.

As both sides approached one another, George suddenly jumped, raising his axe high, and with the momentum, slammed it into the ground with great force.

As the entire ground cracked, the first casualty occurred in the enemy's army, and the tentacles surrounding George spun like a whirlwind, slicing through all the nearby enemies in half.

As blood stained George, lightning struck, and everyone was briefly shaken. This shock gave way to fear and screams as George suddenly appeared as a figure resembling a Demon God.

With every swing of his axe, dozens of people died. The tentacles around him, like snakes, coiled around the enemy. George threw his axe.

The axe flew forward and landed among the enemy. A large dark smoke spread everywhere, and vision became obscured. George, using his fists, quickly lunged forward. He tore through all the soldiers in front of him with his fists.

Heads, arms exploded, and the ground was filled with corpses. As George advanced deeper into the Republic army, he pulled his axe from the ground.

Everywhere he passed, people were cut down and killed. George's breath slowed after an hour, his muscles strained, exhausted, but he kept fighting.

He continued to fight against the enemy's relentless advancing army. As his axe struck, it cleaved and destroyed everything in its path. His body glowed with strength, darkness appeared everywhere, and terror spread among the enemy...

"Monster! C-"

After smashing another soldier's head with his fist, George staggered for a moment but quickly regained his balance. With his bloody hands, he wiped the sweat from his face and pushed his red hair back.

As blood collected on the ground due to the rain, George calmly looked at the Republic army, which gazed at him as if seeing a monster, and straightened his back.

The incredible power that felt limitless still coursed through his body, and it was unshaken. There were no limits to such power. The only limit was George's own ability, which he despised...

"This will be your grave. Escaping from here is just a dream..." George smiled. "There is no escape now. The Light Goddess is no more. The only truth here is me, and I have been ordained by Creation to destroy you..."

George then looked at the soldiers who were still trembling and watching him seriously. "Come... Let me show you the power of the God. The more of you there are, the better it will be for me. The more of you, the greater the victory..."

George raised his axe. Seeing that the other side didn't respond, he sighed, looked down at the ground, wiped the blood from his lips with his hand, and shook the blood off his axe.

"Well, I'm coming then..."

George threw his axe. Another great explosion occurred, and George began the massacre...
