Chapter 216: 【123】Above Huajin, hides the Elixir
"Daoist, your use of 'four ounces moving a thousand pounds,' at this moment, I'm not your match."
Faced with Daoist Tianfu's praise, Wang Longhu also reciprocated with compliments.
To become a Grandmaster of Huajin is not something that can be achieved by sheer luck.
Wang Longhu is not someone who refuses to bow his head; at this moment, Daoist Tianfu's strength is indeed slightly superior, which is undeniable.
Therefore, he wouldn't be stubborn about not admitting it.
"After reaching Huajin, it all depends on one's own insight. To advance further, every Grandmaster has their own path. You've just embarked on this path, so being a bit behind is perfectly normal.
How about this, since we want to test our strength, let's try a different method."
Daoist Tianfu proactively extended his right hand, revealing his palm as smooth as jade, without any calluses or signs of labor.
Moreover, his fingers were long and straight, resembling the hands of a scholar rather than a martial artist.
Wang Longhu suddenly realized and immediately extended his left hand, firmly grasping the hand of Daoist Tianfu.
In the Martial Arts World, there is an unwritten form of sparring, also known as a 'literary duel.'
This is called 'hand testing.'
In earlier years, martial artists would try to test each other's strengths without disturbing the peace, using their forearms to meet and compete, gauging each other's prowess.
By listening to the force in hand testing, the martial artists could use Dark Force to compete, and who was stronger or weaker would be evident upon testing.
Understanding and then withdrawing, not much would be known, and face would be preserved. Therefore, hand testing has evolved as a martial etiquette.
Although Wang Longhu had never engaged in hand testing with others, he had heard about it from Master Chen and the senior monk and understood its significance.
At the moment he grasped Daoist Tianfu's hand, his entire Qi Force surged fiercely into Daoist Tianfu's palm.
Daoist Tianfu's body harbored its own Qi Force, ready to act, and as Wang Longhu moved, so did this Qi Force.
Instantly, the two Qi Forces clashed, immediately locking in a stalemate where neither side gained the upper hand.
For a while, the courtyard fell into a silent quiet; Wang Longhu did not speak, and neither did Daoist Tianfu.
Yet beneath the seemingly peaceful surface, terrifying undercurrents were seething.
One could faintly see airflow swirling around the two of them, and the dust on the ground was forced to form a vortex at their feet.
A falling leaf fluttered by, only to be ground into over a dozen small pieces before it even got close to Wang Longhu.
The belated Daoist Tianwu was dumbfounded upon seeing this scene. Did he not know his own senior brother's strength?
How long had it been since he first saw Wang Longhu, and now this youngster was already able to match his senior brother in hand testing?
"What kind of martial arts talent is this, a monster indeed," Daoist Tianwu couldn't help but sigh deeply.
As the saying goes, 'comparison breeds resentment,' for he had practiced martial arts for decades, yet the threshold of Huajin remained elusive. But here was a junior more than twenty years younger, who had already reached this level.
"Phew." Daoist Tianfu let out a muffled groan, instinctively retracting his hand and stepping back three paces.
In contrast, Wang Longhu stood in place with an unchanged expression, looking extremely calm. Which is stronger and which is weaker is clear at a glance.
"Bajiquan's Exhale, Xingyi's Tiger and Leopard Thunder Sound, Wudang Golden Toad Skill... Normally, training in a single skill of Huajin is enough, but you trained in three at the same time. The depth of your Qi Force surpasses my imagination,
and given time to familiarize yourself with Huajin, even I can't predict how far you will grow." Daoist Tianfu said in disbelief, covering his chest to steady his breath.
If his Qi Force were a lake, during the hand testing with Wang Longhu, it felt as if there was an ocean concealed within Wang Longhu, filling Daoist Tianfu with reverence just by sensing it.
Wang Longhu's foundation during the Dark Force stage was exceedingly solid; upon stepping into Huajin, the benefits of such a foundation were immediately and thoroughly displayed.
"Daoist Tianfu, are you okay?" Wang Longhu stepped forward to inquire.
Upon becoming a Grandmaster of Huajin, the Dark Force circulates throughout the body inside and out, providing all-around protection to the body's exterior and internal organs, with the intensity more than ten times that of before.
Today's encounter was Wang Longhu's first hand testing, and he had not anticipated this aspect.
"It's nothing," Daoist Tianfu shook his head, and his complexion quickly returned to normal.
Having reached the stage of Huajin, a martial artist can slightly control their ability to regulate the flow of their own blood, effectively stopping external bleeding or smoothing erratic Inner Breath.
"Wang Longhu, congratulations! A young Grandmaster of Huajin like you has limitless potential; we Wudang are truly honored to have taught you our Golden Toad Skill this time." Daoist Tianwu walked over leisurely, expressing great joy.
Even with Wudang's rich history and profound foundations, without a Grandmaster of Huajin as a pillar, decline would be a matter of mere decades.
For a sect to become renowned, it requires an unparalleled master, not the other way around, where a master needs a prestigious sect.
Any martial artist force is always reliant on masters, and Wang Longhu now holds such a position.
With his strength, as long as he wishes, he is completely capable of establishing a martial arts school in the civilian world, and it would become renowned everywhere without any issue.
And once Wang Longhu gains fame in the future, people would know he learned the Wudang Golden Toad Skill, naturally associating Wang Longhu with Wudang. At that time, Wudang could enhance its legendary reputation further.
"Dear Taoist masters, to be honest, the reason I came to see you is not mainly for sparring with Taoist Master Tianfu, but rather to seek your advice on a matter." Wang Longhu said humbly with a smile.
"Speak freely, as long as it's within our knowledge, my senior brother will not hesitate to tell you." Celestial Master Tianwu readily agreed.
Taoist Master Tianfu couldn't help but glance at him speechlessly.
"I've heard that above Huajin there are four developments, with the first being detachment from breath, which suppresses the sixth Yin, and thus hides the 'Dan.' What exactly are the sixth Yin and the hidden 'Dan'?"
The two, Tianwu and Tianfu, exchanged a glance. Tianwu chuckled sheepishly: "Senior brother, I'm afraid you'll have to exert yourself on this one."
Taoist Master Tianfu pondered for a while, then slowly explained: "What you mentioned about the first detachment from breath among the four developments is both correct and incorrect. The sixth Yin is a Buddhist term; beyond the five Yin, there is no sixth Yin. Hence, it is a metaphor for something with name but no substance as the sixth Yin, such as saying the thirteenth entry to the nineteenth realm. As described in the Vimalakirti Sutra's observation of sentient beings, 'like the sixth Yin, like the seventh emotion,'
the first color Yin, having form and obstruction, is named color; the second feeling Yin, receiving and accepting connections, is named feeling; the third thought Yin, capturing the associated appearances, is named thought; the fourth action Yin, the heart of creating, which moves towards the result, is named action; the fifth consciousness Yin, distinguishing the associated realm, is named consciousness.
To suppress the sixth Yin, one must first cultivate the five Yin, cease indulgence, cease killing, cease stealing, not utter falsehoods, and only then can the fruit be planted, suppressing the sixth Yin essentially refers to realizing the location of the Dantian within the human body."
"Dantian? Isn't that the Guanyuan Acupoint?" Wang Longhu asked.
"To be more precise, there are three places referred to as the Dantian within the human body: the Upper Dantian at the Yintang of the Du Meridian, the Middle Dantian at the Shanzhong Acupoint, and the Lower Dantian at the Guanyuan of the Ren Meridian. With essence and Qi cultivated together,
the soul sits in the Mud Pill Palace, grand Qi gathers at the Shanzhong Acupoint, storing essence at the Guanyuan Acupoint. When these three places are connected, one can reach the realm of refining spirit and returning to emptiness."
Taoist Master Tianfu pointed to his chest: "A Grandmaster of Huajin harbors Dark Force all over their body, and can transform external forces. Have you ever thought about what would happen if this force were compressed inwardly?"
His words made Wang Longhu suddenly enlightened, his eyes brightened involuntarily.
Starting with Dark Force, the major direction for martial artists is to temper bones and internal organs, all collectively referred to as the inner body.
While Ming Jin martial artists still train the outer body, Dark Force martial artists have already started exploring internally within the human body.
If the human body is an infinite potential treasure trove, then the true treasures must be hidden within.
According to what Taoist Master Tianfu said, if the Dark Force throughout the body is compressed inwardly, what would happen?
Dark Force would concentrate and gather in one place, forming a terrifically formidable power, which could perform many actions.
For instance, achieving self-destruction in an instant, realizing the location of the Dantian that Taoist Master Tianfu mentioned, or perhaps… the marrow cleansing mentioned in the Marrow Cleansing Scripture!
Pop!
Celestial Master Tianwu suddenly clapped his hands in joy: "Senior brother, that's right! Everyone says Qi sinks into the Dantian, but why, after it sinks into the Dantian, can't it retain even a bit?
Could it be understood that the common person's Guanyuan Acupoint does not have the capability to store Qi, it is a false Dantian,
and only a Grandmaster of Huajin can use Dark Force to cultivate the Dantian, thereby turning the Guanyuan Acupoint into a true Dantian that can store Qi!"
Faced with Celestial Master Tianwu's uncontrollable joy, Taoist Master Tianfu felt a bit embarrassed.
Wang Longhu himself had shown no sign yet, how could this guy achieve enlightenment first? Sometimes realizing the mysteries of higher realms is not always a good thing.
Especially for someone like Celestial Master Tianwu, who is a Dark Force martial artist. With their control over the body's Dark Force, they are not sufficient enough to compress all the Dark Force inwardly.
This process, if anything goes slightly wrong, will result in complete destruction of the meridians, a fate worse than death for a martial artist.
"Right yet wrong; everyone will have their own thoughts." Taoist Master Tianfu could only respond casually.
"Suppress the sixth Yin, thereby hiding the Dan... Dantian, cleansing the marrow and changing the bones, so that's how it is!" Upon hearing Celestial Master Tianwu's realization, Wang Longhu's mind became even clearer about what lies beyond Huajin.
Tianfu's few words were enough to give him more thoughts on this path of detachment from breath, so that future martial arts practice wouldn't be without direction like a headless fly.
Seeing that Wang Longhu likely had his own realization as well, Taoist Master Tianfu knew he wouldn't express it like Celestial Master Tianwu did, so he nodded and said: "Wang Longhu, if you were a disciple of Wudang, I would advise you to serve the country with this strength. But your extraordinary talent harbors hope to reach the pinnacle achieved by martial artists throughout history; I really don't want to see your talent wasted,
If you want to pursue the four developments, I suggest you go overseas, interact more with those martial artists from abroad—whether by defeating them or discussing martial arts with them—overseas is your best place to breakthrough."
Wang Longhu's heart trembled, looking thoughtfully at Taoist Master Tianfu.
The other party, as a Huajin Grandmaster who attained the position years earlier, certainly has deeper understandings and realizations. The domestic atmosphere for martial arts is indeed too plain.
For a true martial artist, one who hasn't faced life and death combat is unqualified and can barely improve.
Thus, traveling abroad to meet and confront various overseas martial artists becomes Wang Longhu's optimal battleground.
"Thank you, Taoist Master Tianfu, I understand." Wang Longhu respectfully cupped his fists, bowed, and then turned and left.
He had learned everything that needed to be known; there was no longer any need to stay.
