CHAPTER 225
Chapter 225: The King's Legacy
In front of King Lin's skeletal remains lay three objects: a vial of pale golden liquid, a white crystal, and three Origin Power Inheritance Orbs.
Both Roda and Roxin held back, their gazes fixed on Lu Ming.
"That crystal is a Memory Stone," Roxin explained softly. "It might contain some messages."
They were offering Lu Ming the first look, honoring their promise to share King Lin's inheritance with him.
Lu Ming nodded and stepped forward, picking up the Memory Stone.
As he infused it with Origin Power, a message flowed into his mind.
After a brief perusal, Lu Ming sighed and shook his head.
"It's an inheritance, but it's useless to me," he said, tossing the Memory Stone to Roda.
This was indeed King Lin's inheritance site, and the items before them were indeed part of his legacy.
The three Inheritance Orbs contained three Ancient Realm Origin Power Skills:
- Breathing Technique: Breath of Flames
- Body Protection Technique: Three Flowers Crown
- Body Forging Technique: Divine Fire Indestructible Body
But there was a catch. To inherit King Lin's legacy, one had to possess the bloodline of the Flame Clan.
However, this obstacle wasn't insurmountable.
That bottle of pale golden liquid was the divine blood of the Flame Clan. By absorbing it through a special method, an outsider could be transformed into a full-fledged member of the Flame Clan.
The unfortunate part was...
Lu Ming couldn't undergo this transformation.
It wasn't that he held his human identity in such high regard.
It was because of the system residing within him, its origin and location unknown.
If he underwent the blood transformation and lost the system, or if the system no longer recognized him after losing his human identity... what would become of him?
Although the possibility was remote, when it came to matters concerning the system, Lu Ming wasn't willing to take any risks.
So, he could only offer these treasures to Roda as a gesture of goodwill.
Roda, having unexpectedly achieved his goal of obtaining the inheritance, was overjoyed.
After quickly gathering the items, he addressed Lu Ming and Roxin.
"Let's go."
He didn't intend to perform the inheritance ritual here.
The fungal carpet outside the mansion filled them all with unease.
Lu Ming had no objections.
The three quickly departed, encountering no further incidents as they left King Lin's Mansion and returned to the Inner City.
At the place where Uncle Lu was recuperating, Lu Ming bid them farewell.
"This ruin holds little value for me now," Lu Ming stated, his voice tinged with a hint of finality. "I plan to leave."
His intention was to return to South Mountain and resume his focused cultivation.
Roxin's face flushed as she asked, "Brother Lu, where do you live?"
Lu Ming simply shook his head, then turned to Roda. "What are your plans?"
"We're heading back to Archean City to recuperate and undergo the inheritance ritual," Roda replied.
Lu Ming nodded thoughtfully. "If possible," he began, a slight hesitation in his voice, "I have a presumptuous request..."
Seeing Lu Ming's uncharacteristic embarrassment, Roda smiled and clapped him on the shoulder. "If there's anything I can help with, just ask."
Lu Ming returned the smile. "Alright, after I return, I'll make some arrangements. I might bring a few people to meet you later."
He had recalled Velo's words about the Aeonians' willingness to shelter tribulation transcenders. Their reputation in the Black Mist Zone was positive.
Perhaps, through Roda's connections, he could establish a relationship with the Aeonians and improve the standing of the Nanxian people within the Black Mist Zone.
Of course, these matters were primarily Huo Sheng's responsibility.
Upon his return, Lu Ming would mention it to Huo Sheng, and then the decision would be his.
For now, Lu Ming was simply asking Roda for a favor, a small gesture that wouldn't inconvenience him greatly.
After finalizing their arrangements, Roda and Roxin escorted Lu Ming, laden with his bags and bundles, to the ruin's exit.
The news of the Divine Dao Alliance's downfall had spread like wildfire. Less than a day after Li De's death, the dissolution of the Alliance was common knowledge.
The entrance fee was no longer enforced, and the checkpoints near the ruin's entrance had been torn down by those who had long resented the Divine Dao Alliance's tyranny.
Explorers flowed in and out freely, and the Flame Clan Ruin had returned to its former bustling state.
Just as Lu Ming was about to depart, a familiar figure stepped into his path.
"You're... Quan Chao, right?" Lu Ming recognized the man, and Quan Chao bowed respectfully.
"Yes, Mr. Lu."
This was the same person who had guided Lu Ming to the Divine Dao Alliance's treasure vault. Lu Ming had subsequently followed Roda and Roxin to King Lin's Mansion, forgetting about Quan Chao in the process.
Now, he was waiting for Lu Ming at the ruin's entrance.
Lu Ming frowned. "What's the matter?"
Sensing Lu Ming's displeasure, Quan Chao spoke quickly, "Mr. Lu, after your actions the other day, I've realized the error of my ways. I've come to serve you and learn from you directly."
His words were carefully chosen, clearly rehearsed.
But he had misjudged Lu Ming.
Lu Ming wasn't some righteous hero. He only displayed such qualities when provoked. Otherwise, he remained indifferent to the actions of others, focusing on his own goals.
This meant Lu Ming had little interest in taking on followers.
"There's no need," he said dismissively. "You can go wherever you want. Just don't follow me."
Lu Ming continued towards the ruin's exit, bypassing Quan Chao without a second glance.
Quan Chao didn't dare to stop him. He bowed respectfully to Lu Ming's retreating figure. "I'll be in Archean City. If Mr. Lu ever needs assistance, just let me know, and I'll serve you to the best of my abilities."
But Lu Ming ignored him, quickening his pace and disappearing through the gates.
Even after Lu Ming was long gone, Quan Chao remained rooted to the spot, his head bowed in reverence.
A nearby onlooker couldn't resist a sarcastic remark. "So eager to serve, but no one wants him... Seriously, buddy, if you're lacking in strength, focus on improving yourself instead of trying to latch onto someone else. It's pathetic."
Laughter erupted from the surrounding crowd.
Quan Chao slowly straightened up, his gaze sweeping across the onlookers.
A strange grin spread across his face as he released a flicker of his Spiritual Pressure, silencing the laughter instantly.
The crowd realized, with a collective gasp, that this man was a Spirit Realm expert!
The one who had mocked him earlier turned pale and collapsed to the ground.
Quan Chao shook his head, a hint of disdain in his eyes.
In the past, he would have killed the man without a second thought.
But after experiencing Lu Ming's "earnest teachings," Quan Chao had changed.
He raised his voice, addressing the crowd. "Serving Mr. Lu as a loyal follower is my good fortune. Those of you with weak wills and short-sightedness cannot comprehend his greatness."
With that, Quan Chao turned and strode towards the ruin's entrance.
Unbeknownst to Lu Ming, Quan Chao's actions had inadvertently spread his name throughout the outskirts of the Hundred Thousand Mountains.
