Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Elder Mo’s Shock!
"Senior Brother, whatever you see in a moment, don't speak and don't interfere."
In mid-air, Elder Bai gave this special reminder while flying through the sky.
"This old man understands."
Mo Yu didn't know why his Junior Brother Bai had become so fussy. In his memory, the Miscellaneous Dao Institute was already on the verge of being disbanded. If his dear grandson had suffered any grievances there, he was determined to give those people a hard lesson.
The two of them soon landed outside the main residence.
Elder Bai respectfully called out first, "Old Bai comes to greet Chief Chu."
"Old Bai, come in quickly."
A youthful and gentle voice came from within the residence, instantly souring Mo Yu's mood.
The Miscellaneous Dao Institute had fallen so far that even a greenhorn was serving as chief, and Bai still acted as if he'd arranged a great opportunity for Baole? Let's see how this old man asserts his authority shortly.
The two entered the institute one after the other. As soon as Mo Yu stepped inside, he froze on the spot. His expression was like he had seen a ghost. That terrifying presence—shouldn't she be in the Tianling Institute?
He stammered, "Sister… Sister Bing, why are you here?"
Elder Bai's face immediately darkened when he heard this, inwardly cursing:
Didn't I already tell you not to say anything no matter what you saw? Why does it go in one ear and out the other?
Elder Bing turned toward Mo Yu with a puzzled look. "And you are?"
Mo Yu stood there stunned. He wanted to introduce himself, but when he saw that Sister Bing clearly didn't recognize him, he didn't know what to say. He awkwardly rubbed his nose.
Elder Bai had no choice but to explain, "Elder Sister Bing, this is a former fellow disciple of mine. He once witnessed your brilliance in your youth."
Elder Bing said nothing further upon hearing that and didn't inquire further.
Chu Feng chuckled and said, "Old Bai, is this the new friend you wanted to introduce to me?"
Elder Bai quickly responded, "That's right. Chief Chu, this is an old friend of mine. He came to visit Wendao Academy today, and I brought him along to have a look. If we've disturbed anything, I ask for your understanding."
"No trouble at all. I thought you were just out of wine."
Just as Chu Feng finished speaking, a massive figure descended from the sky, blocking out the sun.
Mo Yu looked up—and once again was dumbstruck, beginning to doubt his sense of reality.
What in the world was going on? Why was that being here too?
Jinchi Diao Wang saw Mo Yu and teased with a grin, "Hey, isn't this the little brat from the Mo family? In the blink of an eye, you're an old man now?"
"Mo Yu greets Senior Jinchi."
Mo Yu quickly saluted.
Jinchi Diao Wang waved impatiently. "Enough, enough, cut the formalities."
Then it immediately switched to a fawning tone as it looked at Chu Feng. "Brother, you got any of that Dreamwine here?"
Chu Feng gave it a cold look. "Wrong guy. Go find Xiuyuan."
Jinchi Diao Wang whined, "That brat hides his wine like treasure. I can't bring myself to steal from him."
Chu Feng said seriously, "Be accurate. That would be theft. Only scholars 'borrow'."
"…"
Jinchi Diao Wang was speechless for a moment, then turned pitiful. "Brother, I know you've got some. Just spare a little, will you? I feel awful if I go a day without Dreamwine."
With a flash of light from Chu Feng's storage ring, he handed over a jug. "This is the last one. Once it's gone, I've got no more."
"Knew you were the best."
Jinchi Diao Wang instantly recovered its usual arrogant demeanor and flapped off with a whoosh.
Chu Feng had long since gotten used to Jinchi Diao Wang's antics—acting more like a dog than any dog he'd known. Sometimes, he suspected this guy had been a dog demon in a past life.
Only Mo Yu was still frozen in place, stunned. Luckily, Elder Bai spoke up at just the right time.
"Mmm, smells delicious… Chief Chu, is Martial Nephew Wang cooking something good?"
"Probably spicy stir-fried Taizui. Want to stay for a bowl?" Chu Feng invited.
"That sounds good."
When Elder Bai heard the mention of wine, his whole spirit lifted with excitement.
Only then did Mo Yu finally snap back to his senses, remembering the reason he had come here in the first place.
His precious grandson… was actually working as a cook in the Miscellaneous Dao Institute—such a lowly task. Outrageous!
Just as Mo Yu was about to explode in anger, he felt someone tug at him. Elder Bai's voice rang in his ear.
"Chief Chu, would you mind if we went to see what Martial Nephew Wang is cooking?"
"Go ahead, go ahead."
Chu Feng waved his hand. Little Fatty cooking wasn't some big secret—what harm was there in letting them watch?
Elder Bing narrowed her eyes slightly as she watched the two figures walk off. She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she thought she had sensed a flicker of fury from that old man earlier.
Outside the kitchen.
Mo Yu stared at the busy figure inside, his molars grinding together, nearly shattering from force. He spoke through clenched teeth:
"Junior Brother Bai, can you explain this to me?"
Elder Bai replied with a bit of exasperation, "Senior Brother, could you at least take a look at what realm Martial Nephew is in now?"
???
Mo Yu paused, then used his spiritual sense to scan Wang Baole. The moment he did, he blurted out in shock:
"How is this possible?! He's already in the True Fate Realm—late stage no less! He… he's only been at Wendao Academy for a few years!"
Elder Mo still vividly remembered that when Wang Baole first arrived at Wendao Academy, he hadn't even touched the threshold of the Dao Foundation Realm.
Elder Bai chuckled. "Just wait till you see his blade technique."
As soon as he spoke, Wang Baole, holding a kitchen knife, began slicing swiftly. Each stroke of the blade radiated blade intent so clearly that Mo Yu could feel it in the air.
Hiss…
Mo Yu gasped, whispering under his breath, "When did my grandson turn into a monster…"
"Not quite a monster. Just barely qualifies as a prodigy."
Elder Bai replied with veiled meaning.
"No. Impossible. That's absolutely impossible. My grandson is the number one prodigy in Wendao Academy!"
Overcome with emotion, Mo Yu shouted those words out loud.
The shout immediately caught the attention of Wang Baole inside the kitchen—and even Chu Feng and Elder Bing in the courtyard heard it clearly.
Chu Feng turned to Elder Bing and said, "Elder Bing, do you think that old Mo's brain might be a bit off? Coming to our Miscellaneous Dao Institute shouting things like that?"
Elder Bing nodded. "Seems like it."
Elder Bai was stunned speechless. He deeply regretted leading Senior Brother Mo here himself. Had he known, he would've let the old man suffer on his own—after all, he still had to maintain his standing in Wendao Academy.
Wang Baole, upon hearing the voice from outside, didn't react. Even though the voice sounded very much like the grandfather he remembered.
He always held one belief close: cooking was cultivation. No matter who it was, or what happened, nothing could be allowed to interrupt his cooking.
Only when the final dish was finished did Wang Baole set down his knife and turn his gaze to the kitchen door.
He looked at the old, familiar figure standing outside—and tears immediately welled up in his eyes.
He couldn't hold back the shout that burst from his chest: "Grandpa! Is it really you?!"
