Chapter 240: Helping with the Dishes?
"Do you not mind if I use your bathroom, Lillian?"
Veronica slowly stood up from her chair, eyeing Lillian, who nodded.
"Yeah, no problem. If you just go through that, you'll eventually find it on the side." She pointed and watched as her mother left, leaving her alone with Marionette.
Lillian turned towards the Assassin, glaring as she continued to feel her hand roam her leg.
"What do you think you're doing? My mother was right in front of us!"
Marionette smiled, resting her elbow on the table and leaning the side of her face into her palm. Then, she responded:
"You make it sound like you didn't enjoy it."
Her hand squeezed Lillian's thigh, then glanced down to her own leg.
She blinked at the girl's own hand, which was still on it.
"And you seem to be enjoying my own leg, as well. Being a hypocrite now, are we, Lillian?"
Lillian grumbled, "How would you like it if I suddenly popped my hand under your skirt?"
Marionette stared at her silently, playfulness flashing in her red eyes, "Go ahead."
"H-huh?"
Lillian watched as the woman wrapped her fingers around her hand and began pulling it under her own skirt. The Rabbit widened her eyes with a slight blush.
Before Marionette could move in further, the two froze as the sounds of the bathroom shower were turned on.
Lillian stiffened. Her mother was taking a shower? Didn't this mean...
"It looks like we have some time before your mother returns, Lillian..."
Marionette gripped the side of the girl's face, turning it back to her own while smiling mischievously. She whispered while leaning in:
"How about you teach me more about that kiss in the meantime?"
Lillian stared at the approaching Assassin, gulping as she internally whispered inside her mind:
'I... I think I'm in danger...'

Veronica, having exited the shower and now dressed in a white nightgown, returned to the living room.
She scrutinised the two girls' faces, noticing something odd about them. Their faces were slightly red.
"Are you two okay? You both look slightly pinkish."
Lillian pulled against her collar, fidgeting in her seat as she glanced towards the Assassin, who smirked and licked her lips at her.
"Y-yeah... we just had something hot to drink earlier." She answered, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Oh? Was it delicious?"
Before Lillian could answer, Marionette chimed in with a playful smile:
"It was delectable."
Lillian's face flashed red as she covered her mouth from Marionette's intense eyes.
Veronica's eyes flickered between the two, slightly confused by their reactions to one another; however, she decided not to ask. Instead, she asked something else:
"Oh! Are you willing to share?"
Lillian vigorously shook her head, intending to keep her mother from knowing what had just happened a few moments ago.
"W-we're all out! Sorry, mum..."
"Oh dear... What a shame..." She placed one hand on the side of her face, shaking her head in disappointment. Veronica then glanced towards the couch before asking:
"I suppose I will be sleeping on the couch?"
Lillian tilted her head, glancing towards the living room before returning her gaze to her mother.
"Why would you think that?" She asked, confused. And then added, "I'll be the one sleeping on the couch. You can have my bed."
"Oh my... Are you certain? I have absolutely no trouble with sleeping in the living room... hope I'm not too much of a hassle..."
Lillian waved her hand dismissively, "Bah...! You really aren't, mum. Now off to bed, it's really late!"
Veronica smiled slightly, "I suppose it is... But I think I'll go to sleep later." She then clapped her hands with a cheery expression, "How about I help with the dishes? Would you like to join me Lillian?"
Lillian's lips stretched into a crooked and shaky smile as the corners of it twitched. She didn't want to wash dishes.
Marionette, having noticed this rather quickly, stood up. She walked around the table and stopped before Lillian's mother.
"I would like to help. Let's leave Lillian to rest. She had a busy day today, after all, Miss Arius."
"That's even better! I would be overjoyed. How about we get to know one another better?"
As they left for the kitchen, Lillian stared at the Assassin's back gratefully while screaming into her mind.
'My Mari is the best!' She prayed inside her heart and made a dash towards the couch before lazily throwing herself on it.

Veronica looked towards the side, watching as Marionette dried the plates with a dry rag. She then looked down at her hands, which were dipped in the sink.
"What do you think of my daughter?"
Marionette, drawing her attention away from the plates, eyed the woman.
"Could you elaborate please, Miss Arius?"
Veronica smiled warmly, "What made you find yourself attracted to her?"
Marionette was momentarily left stunned by the woman's question. However, she soon turned her gaze down to the plate, clutched between her hands, with its polished surface reflecting her image.
There were plenty of reasons why she felt attracted to Lillian. Starting with the fact that she didn't look repulsive in her eyes.
"I found her surprisingly beautiful..."
Next would be how ambitious she was to achieve first place, putting in the effort, unlike most.
"I also found her ability to strive for and achieve difficult goals to be rather charming..."
Afterwards, it would be how adorable and lovely her personality was, especially towards her. She found it extremely entertaining whenever Lillian blushed.
She also felt the girl fitted her own perfectly, being similar in some cases but still different, so that they were still their own people.
"Her personality is also one I adore most... Especially with how adorable she acts around me..."
And lastly...
She raised her left hand to the lower half of her face, covering it while giving a half-turn to the side with a shy expression.
"I... also like the way her voice sounds and how her scent smells..." She said the last part a bit quieter compared to the rest, the feeling of embarrassment rising within her chest.
Veronica stared at the tall girl, her eyes widening in surprise at Marionette's confession. Then, her smile widened even further, becoming even warmer.
Her eyes softened as she muttered:
"I see..." After a short pause, her eyes glittered, "Have you ever thought about marrying my daughter?"
