Chapter 751: Two Divine Beasts
Chen Wentian was on fire. His body, his mind, his spirit, and his soul, everything burned with the might of the blue dragon. He collided with Queen Sundew with the power of a meteor, smashing both of them into the ground and into a bright blue ball of flame.
The explosion swept through the surrounding forest. Trees, underbrush, deadwood; everything succumbed to blue fire as if they were matchsticks and kindling. Countless small souls perished in an instant with more screaming out in agony as they were consumed. The ring of fire spread out rapidly, relentlessly, eradicating everything in its path.
“Gaaahhh! Get away!” Queen Sundew roared.
She swung both of her forelimbs together, slamming against the blazing blue figure away. Giving a moment of respite, she looked down at her body in shock. Her carapace was burnt black all over. Everything was so painful. She coughed several times as her body recovered. She at least had recovered her spiritual energy from the honey pot ants. But she didn’t know how long she could last this time around.
She launched into the air as she shot out rapid spine arrows at her two opponents. She noted with satisfaction that this at least forced them to dodge or block. She still wasn’t a pushover. Even two against one, she wouldn’t give up just like that.
“What the… my forest!” She screeched.
After gaining enough height, she saw devastation around her. In just a few breaths, large swaths of the Glittering Forest had been turned into ash. The flames were moving fast in all directions, creating a glowing ring of blue flames that could not extinguished. This was her home, her kingdom. How dare he?
She turned to the human. She had to kill him. She had to…
She quickly turned back and fled north.
Chen Wentian snorted and shook his head wryly. For a moment, he had thought the mantis queen would finally stand and fight. He was wrong. He had to give respect to this tenacious beast. Its instincts were good. It was smart and knew when to fight or retreat. Too bad he had already prepared his attack.
His body ignited once more. He had stopped Chen Mo from using any more blue flames for this reason. He needed to use it all here, right now.
He raised his arms. Everything had already been prepared. The ring of fire was the initial attack, one that tempered the ground and filled the air with the requisite heat. It also set the boundaries, of which Queen Sundew was still within.
Clouds appeared above. They were not dark clouds. They glowed blue like the sunny sky.
A strange energy covered the land, forcing Queen Sundew to pause and look up. This energy… reverberated against her soul, causing instinctive panic. It wasn’t something she could control. It was what all beasts suffered against another that was far superior. It didn’t matter if one’s cultivation was higher or not. It only mattered if one was divine.
Chen Wentian thrust his arms upward, expelling tremendous force and pressure. He then clenched both hands into a fist, creating a pulse of power that finally activated the domain.
Flames of the Arcadian Sky, 4th Phase, Stormfire Epoch!
It started to rain.
A slight drizzle at first that quickly became a downpour.
Only, it wasn’t raindrops that came down but fire.
Each drop was a ball of blue flame, filled with divine power and searing heat. Upon contact, they would explode with great force, turning anything in a small radius into ash.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
A steady staccato of destruction swept over the already barren land. Like drumbeats from the mighty heavens, it was unceasing and only growing louder by the second.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions wracked Queen Sundew’s body. A single one was nothing worrying as she could quickly recover but it was endless. Each drop of flame left a small hole on her body. Her limbs, her head, her abdomen, she couldn’t protect herself at all. It was like a rainstorm, a storm of fire.
Her wings were destroyed and her spiritual energy was a mess trying to heal herself. She gradually lost altitude and stumbled onto the ground. She could still hold on but escaping was out of the question. Her only option was to defend.
She had never experienced flames like this. She had sparred with King Huo Tu in the past but the toad’s flames were nothing like this. They didn’t frighten her to the core like this.
A variety of defensive items appeared above her head, pulled out of a spatial bag she always kept on her body. She hated using human tools but she had to right now. There was no other choice.
A large square shield made of bronze managed to protect her head for a few seconds. But it was only a few seconds. It could not stand up to the incessant rain.
She threw out a paper talisman which erupted with spiritual energy, forming a glowing barrier in the shape of an umbrella. This one fared even worse and could only hold on for half a breath before being swept away.
Item after item appeared only to be destroyed. Several even appeared at once, layering on top of each other but all that bought her was a little more time. But what was the use of that?
These flames were too strong. She now understood why after standing under them for so long. She finally understood the suppressive effect it had on her body, mind, and soul. Although the flames were half a step away from the Spirit King Realm and not a true attack at the Spirit King Realm, they had such a devastating effect on her.
They were divine.
Divine flames? Blue flames… of the divine blue dragon?
Queen Sundew looked over at the human standing not far away. There was no more anger in her gaze. Instead, it was a kind of helplessness. She couldn’t understand. It was impossible to understand.
Sha! Sha!
Moonbeams lanced down from the sky and sliced through her already wounded body. Another set of attacks from a divine beast, one that she knew well.
Nine Tailed Moonlight Fox… Jasmine… Queen Sundew was very familiar with them, with this divine power.
Sha! Sha!
The firestorm above was dissipating, only to be replaced by ending moonlight. White filled every corner of her vision. Her body felt weak. There was still pain but also a dullness. Her consciousness drifted. She couldn’t quite gather her spiritual energy. It was difficult to heal her injuries.
Two divine beasts, she could have never imagined her end to be like this.
She didn’t even feel herself falling. Strangely, she also didn’t feel fear, not even of death. Two figures approached her but everything was already blurry.
“Ah.” Queen Sundew let out a small gasp as she collapsed, “Madam Zhiyue… I’m sorry…”
