Chapter 193: Whoever Has the Bigger Fist
Wuyu City.
Under the veil of darkness, the city was asleep, and the sound of insects chirped in the distance.
The cold wind howled fiercely on the street, rats scurrying back and forth.
Suddenly, a human appeared over the city, clad in a black robe with a faceless mask on his face.
His gaze locked at a particular spot, and he raised his hand.
Whoosh!
A horrifying palm strike erupted from his palm, the force chunked with terrifying pressure.
Under the horrifying palm strike, the chirping of insects vanished while the wind failed to blow.
In a blink, the palm strike arrived over the building, ready to crush it asunder.
Bang!
Just as the palm was about to destroy the building, the defensive formation lit up.
The palm strike hit the defensive formation and it shook vehemently. Spider cracks appeared on the formation, but it held on.
Seeing this, the faceless man was stunned. Under the mask, his mouth was slightly ajar. He did not expect the chamber would have such a high defensive formation.
"Humph!" He snorted.
Although shocked at first, he recovered quickly and attacked once again. This time, it was a punch.
The horrifying punch tore through the air like a moving mountain, crushing everything in its path.
Bang!
The punch slammed into the defensive, and it trembled. Cracks spread everywhere on the formation, and it dimmed, ready to shatter to pieces.
When everyone thought it wouldn't hold on, it held, leaving everyone and the faceless man stunned.
Standing in the sky, the faceless man stared at the building with a narrow expression.
This was supposed to be an easy mission, but the presence of the defensive formation had changed everything.
Moreover, he could not wrap his head around where the chamber found such a defensive formation.
This kind of formation could only be found in the Central Region. Even those wouldn't withstand two of his strikes.
Just as he prepared to attack once again, a group of warriors rushed out of the building and looked in his direction.
"He's there. Attack!" a voice shouted.
Instantly, tens of attacks were launched toward the man in the sky. Although the attacks couldn't kill him, that was not their intention.
Their intention was to stall and expose him.
Quickly, the city was awake from its slumber. All the powerful experts in the city turned and looked in the direction of the attack.
Standing in the air, the man snorted. He glanced at the building one more time before he disappeared into the dead of the night.
Watching his disappearance, all those on the ground breathed a sigh of relief.
Against a Golden Core Expert, they knew they were nothing but bigger ants.
If he had decided to confront them, many of them would have been killed.
With his departure, the City Lord arrived at the scene, assuring the people nothing would happen to them.
However, no one could sleep again. Who knows when the Golden Core Expert would appear again?
At the capital, Mo Jian was researching his next project when he received the news.
He stopped his research and pondered for a moment. From this, they had confirmed they were up against Golden Core Experts.
He left his research room and called, "Elder Zhao…"
Whoosh!
Supreme Elder Zhao appeared out of thin air. "Young Master, what is the problem?"
"The target appeared in Wuyu City and attacked one of our chambers but could not bypass the defensive formation," he explained.
Elder Zhao knit his brow. A deep frown appeared on his face. "Young Master, what do you want me to do?"
"Please, go to Wuyu City and protect them. If possible, try to find traces of the Golden Core Experts."
"All right. I'll be on my way."
With that, he vanished from the room.
Standing in the empty room, he thought for a moment and took out his Spirit Link and sent a message.
"You're not the only one that can play the game," he muttered.
In the last battle against the powerful force in the capital, he had been passive. But this time around, he wouldn't.
While the capital was sleeping, two Golden Core Experts appeared over the capital.
Swiftly, one of them appeared over the Seven Talisman Trade Hall while the other appeared over the Golden Pavilion.
Boom! Boom!
The two Golden Core Experts attacked at the same time. The commerce district shook violently while the defensive formations lit up.
Crack!
The Golden Pavilion's defensive formation only held on for a second before it shattered to pieces and the horrifying push slammed into the building.
"Who dares!" a sonorous voice shouted, shooting out of the debris.
Bang!
In the sky, the Golden Core Expert only responded with another powerful strike.
"Humph!"
The new arrival snorted and destroyed the incoming punch with a palm strike. Just as he prepared to fight the enemy, the enemy was long gone.
"Don't think you can escape," he shouted and vanished from his spot, chasing after the attacker.
At the Seven Talisman Trade Hall, the situation was also the same. But instead of two attacks, the Golden Core Expert threw three punches in quick succession.
The chain punches obliterated the defensive formation, turning the building into rubble.
"How dare you!" a hysterical female voice came from the destroyed building.
Whoosh!
She appeared in the sky, but the attacker was long gone.
Filled with rage, she howled. Veins appeared on her forehead. Her gaze swarmed the empty dark sky before she returned to the ground.
Standing at his mansion's balcony, the Governor looked in the direction of the attack, and a knowing smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"The Thousand Wealth Chamber is aggressive this time around," he grinned.
"Good." He nodded and returned into his chamber.
How could he not know the plot of those from the Central Region? And the response from the Thousand Wealth Chamber satisfied him greatly.
Who cares what is right or wrong?
Since they dared to go against him, show them who has the bigger fist.
…
…
The sun rose on the horizon, marking the dawn of a new day and the capital coming to life.
Swiftly, the news of the attack spread among the people. People whispered, discussing the attack.
Many were confused why the Golden Pavilion and Seven Talisman Trade were attacked.
Tension hung over the capital.
First was the sudden stop of the running water, and now, two of the most powerful forces in the capital were attacked at the same time.
Were they connected or not?
While many were trying to understand what was going on, the Times newspaper was out for sale.
People gathered around the various newspaper vendors. On the front page was a news headline with bold capitalized fonts.
THE MASTERMIND BEHIND THE RIVER POISON
Under the blazing headline was an image of a corpse with his body turning bluish-purple.
The headline alone had captured everyone's attention.
When the people read the emotionally grappling news, they were furious.
They could not believe the two most powerful forces were behind the sudden stop of running water.
Just staring at the rotten body made their anger surge. If the Thousand Wealth Chamber had not reacted swiftly, many of them would have turned into that.
"How could they do that?!" a young man shouted. "Just when we were enjoying the comfort of running water. These bastards wanted to sabotage it!"
"We can't allow this!" another added.
"We can't. What do these bastards take us for? Their slaves?!"
Apart from the front page, there were many other emotional stories of the atrocities of the Golden Pavilion and the Seven Talisman Trade Hall.
In a matter of minutes, the two forces had been painted as the villains. For the common people, the comfort brought by the running water was something they never imagined they could have in their lifetime.
Yet, it was given to them by the Thousand Wealth Chamber. And now, some forces wanted to take it away from them.
How could they accept it?
Quickly, many people linked the battle that happened during the night with the river poison.
With more people believing in this, the anger and hatred of the populace were directed at the Golden Pavilion and the Seven Talisman Trade Hall.
At the Golden Pavilion building—what was left of it—the Pavilion Master stood with a pensive expression.
Most of his trusted workers had been killed from the attack. His rage surged as he watched them dig out more bodies.
Just then, his assistant, covered in dust, rushed toward him with a newspaper.
"My Lord… not good," he shouted with a trembling voice.
"What happened?" the Pavilion Master snapped in annoyance.
Without speaking, he gave him the newspaper and pointed to the front page.
Creasing his brow as he read the newspaper—
As he continued reading, his expression turned darker. His rage boiled like a raging inferno.
"Bastard!" he shouted and threw the newspaper away. Veins protruded on his forehead.
"What insolence! Who gave the Broken Moon the audacity to write such trash against my Pavilion?" he scowled.
Looking at his furious master, his assistant did not know how to react.
He wanted to speak but refrained himself.
"Get the people. I need to make a statement," he commanded.
