Immortality Starts From Making Money.

Chapter 208: Destroying the Gateway.

Standing a couple of feet from Mo Jian, three elders and the guards watched as he worked with deep concentration.

The ancient formation was different from the one in the Western Region, but they had one thing in common.

Their core was to open a gateway to the netherworld.

He only needed to destroy it and the ancient formation would collapse. But this time, he was not going to just destroy the ancient formation.

He was going to do more.

He would make sure this location wouldn't support such a powerful formation in the future.

To open a gateway to the netherworld, a space node must be present. This is the connection between the two worlds.

If he destroyed the ancient formation and the space node was intact, there was still a chance that this node would be used once again.

Therefore, he planned to destroy the space node using the ancient formation.

While he was reverse-engineering the ancient formation, Vengeful Spirits did not stop coming out from the gateway.

It was endless.

To relieve Lonely Spear from the burden, five other Peak Core Refining Warriors joined him in killing the vengeful spirits.

"I'm done," Mo Jian announced to wipe out the beads of sweat from his forehead.

When everyone heard him, a sigh of relief escaped from their lips.

Without closing the gateway, they wouldn't be able to relax.

"Young Master, what should we do?" Elder Bai Delan asked.

Mo Jian shook his head. "Nothing. I've done everything."

"Retreat everyone. Activating the formation will be very dangerous."

This was the first time he was trying such a dangerous thing and he did not know how dangerous it would be.

He only learned of it from one of the tomes he got from the system.

Without hesitating, they all retreated from the caves.

With everyone gone, Mo Jian stared at the eerily dark gateway and whispered.

"Just wait, I'll explore you one day."

Since he found out about the existence of the Netherworld, he had been longing to explore it.

Just the aura from the netherworld gateway produced two rare materials – the Ember Flame and the Obsidian Core Crystal.

Who knows how many rare resources would be located in the Netherworld?

With such a haven of precious resources, he could go further, creating many powerful artifacts.

Coming out of his thoughts, he looked at the next batch of Vengeful Spirits that were trying to come out of the gateway and snorted.

Immediately, he activated the reverse-engineered ancient formation.

The ancient formation pulsed with energy and the air above it vibrated vehemently.

Without waiting for the result, Mo Jian left the cave at his fastest speed.

In a blink, he appeared outside the cave where others were waiting for him.

Before they could ask him how the situation was, they heard a horrifying bang.

The ground quaked and the small hill shook to the core.

"W-What!" a voice exclaimed.

Suddenly, from the cave, a horrifying sandstorm swept toward them at breathtaking speed.

"Retreat!" Elder Zhao shouted, his voice grave.

No one needed to be told twice before they escaped with every means possible.

Stopping hundreds of meters from the caves, everyone looked at the receding sandstorm with their spines still drenched in cold sweats.

That was a close call!

Everyone shifted their gaze to Mo Jian, with confusion evident on their faces.

However, Mo Jian ignored their gaze and locked his focus on the hill with many visible cracks.

'Who would have thought destroying a space node would cause such a powerful effect,' he exclaimed in his mind.

If he had not warned others to retreat first, many would have died from the sandstorm.

"Young Master, is it over?" Elder Zhao asked.

"I don't know…" Mo Jian was uncertain.

For a moment, everywhere was quiet, everyone waiting for his next course of action.

Finally, Mo Jian began to walk toward the cave. Seeing him, Elder Zhao and Elder Bai followed him without hesitation.

Entering the cave, dust permeated everywhere. Spider cracks on the wall.

They ignored the dust and headed deeper into the caves.

When they arrived at the location of the ancient formation, it was gone together with the netherworld gateway.

Huh!

Mo Jian and the Elders breathed a sigh of relief. Suddenly, Elder Bai spoke.

"Why do I feel there is something different…" His voice trailed off but he couldn't wrap his head around the feeling.

Elder Zhao was confused. To him, he did not find anything different in the cave except for the obvious.

Looking at Elder Bai Delan, Mo Jian smiled. 'As expected of Elder Bai.'

"Indeed, something is different." He nodded but did not continue to explain.

Elder Bai was curious and since Mo Jian did not explain, he chose not to ask.

As for Elder Zhao, he did not understand what the two were saying in the first place.

"Elders, I'll need to manage the people," Mo Jian said, looking at the two elders.

"I need to set up formations here and I'll be busy for the next few hours."

"Young Master, you can continue with your work. We'll handle the others," Elder Bai Delan said.

With that, the elders left the cave.

With the two elders gone, Mo Jian concentrated on the spot where the location of the netherworld gateway was located and nodded.

"It worked," he whispered.

What was different about the space was the absence of a space node.

Now that the space node had been destroyed, he could finally use the cave for his plan.

When he discovered the presence of the vengeful spirits, he had been hatching a plan in his mind.

For the ancient formation to open a gateway to the netherworld, two things were important.

First, a space node is important and the second is, pure spiritual energy must be present to sustain the formation.

Just like the Western Region where they discovered a High-Grade Spirit Vein underneath the ancient formation.

There was also a Spirit Vein hidden beneath the hill.

He would have loved to unearth the Spirit Vein but they had no time.

Their journey to the Central Region could not be delayed any longer.

Thus, he came up with the second option – Interregional Transmission Array Hub.

With a Spirit Vein hiding beneath the hill, the Interregional Transmission Array Hub would have enough power to go further than imagined.

Quickly, he got to work and began to set up the upgraded Interregional Transmission Array Hub.

Outside, everyone had returned to their rooms.

With the threat neutralized, they could finally take their much-needed rest.

Before anyone knew it, it was already dawn.

The servants were up, preparing breakfast for the journey ahead while the guards were changing their shifts.

"Grandfather, is he not out?" Zhao Tian walked too close to his grandfather.

"No…" Elder Zhao shook his head. "But I believe the Young Master will come out any moment from now."

Zhao Tian looked at his grandfather with doubt but kept his mouth shut. They stared at the hill in silence.

Just then, his Spirit Link vibrated.

Hmm?

He creased his brow in confusion. Why would his Spirit Link vibrate? They were already out of range.

It was not only him whose Spirit Link vibrated. Everyone's Spirit Link vibrated.

Confused, everyone took out their Spirit Link and was stunned.

The signal is back!

How was that possible?!

Just then, Mo Jian walked out of the cave with an exhausted expression. Seeing him, Zhao Tian rushed toward him.

"Young Master, you need to rest," he said with genuine concern.

"I know…" Mo Jian forced out a smile.

Indeed, he needed to rest.

He had pushed himself to complete setting up the formation. Apart from setting up the Interregional Transmission Relay Hub, he also set up many formations for security.

This would have taken him two to three days to complete but now, he accomplished it in a few hours.

Returning to his room, Mo Jian fell on the bed and drifted into a deep sleep.

Three hours later, Mo Jian looked a lot better than before. He took a quick bath and ate a sumptuous breakfast provided by one of the Tier-1 chefs.

Coming out of the inn, everyone was already waiting, ready to depart.

Without uttering a word, he entered his carriage and they departed.

After a second, the Ravenhill Village descended into silence. A village that usually served as a hub for travellers was now quiet like a graveyard.

The only sound that could be heard was the gentle breeze, whistling through the village street.

Back on the road, the Thousand Wealth Chamber caravan sped toward the Central Region.

They were still hundreds of miles from their destination and they could not afford to waste any more time like they did at the Ravenhill Village.

While the Thousand Wealth Chamber was rushing toward the Central Region,

An old man arrived at the Ravenhill Village. He walked through the quiet street with a deep frown plastered on his face.

"Where are they?" he whispered.

"How could this be?"

He searched the village inside out but could not detect anything. The only strange thing he found was the many new graves.

Looking at the graves, he wore a solemn expression.

"Who dares disrupt my plan?" he howled to the sky, his anger palpable.
