Chapter 276
"It seems like you've had quite a fruitful haul," Feitan remarked as he closed his book, looking at the Omokage that Nobunaga was casually holding.
"Is this a spatial teleportation type or a cross-dimensional tool?" Shalnark was also examining the circle with fascination,
"It feels like it would make moving back and forth very convenient. It could help us gather more quickly during group activities."
Uvogin didn't pay much attention to their evaluations. His gaze quickly found Hisoka, who was sitting in a corner.
After reaching a cooperation agreement with Kurapika, he had returned early.
"Hey, Hisoka! We've captured Omokage! It's about time you explained the circumstances of your joining the troupe!"
Uvogin clenched his fist, "The troupe's rule is that you can only replace a member's number after killing the previous one."
"And Omokage is very much alive. I can't believe with your skills, you couldn't tell Omokage was faking his death."
"You better give us a proper explanation, Hisoka!"
Uvogin restrained himself from acting, adhering to the troupe's rule that members should not kill each other.
Despite his brutish appearance, Uvogin valued punctuality and the troupe's rules above all.
"When I fought him, I genuinely did kill him, but later discovered it was just his puppet," Hisoka said, shuffling a deck of cards as he defended himself. "It's been quite some time since I joined the troupe, so there's not much point in bringing it up now."
Hisoka balanced a card on his fingertip, "Does my answer satisfy you?"
"Not particularly," Uvogin's aura began to swell, "It's hard to believe just words alone!"
"Doesn't Morin have the 'Truth Sticker'?" Franklin, the elder brother figure, interjected, "Why not use that tool to check?"
"I won't accept any tools," Hisoka immediately declared, "If you intend to do something to me, I'll have to defend myself for my own safety."
"We never said we'd use it on you," Shalnark said, hand on his hip, waving the other in the air, "If we use it on Omokage, it'll be clear if there's any collusion between you two."
"It's for the good of the troupe!"
"Another 'Truth Sticker'?" This time, Feitan was the one displeased, "I was hoping to conduct a proper interrogation on Omokage myself."
Since acquiring the tool, his interrogation skills seemed to have no place to shine.
"Leader, what do you think?" Shalnark finally turned to Chrollo.
"We can give it a try," Chrollo closed his book, "After all, Omokage is no longer one of us."
He chuckled, "Besides, I'm curious... Hisoka, was your date last night really with Omokage, and were you up to something nefarious?"
"Do as you please," Hisoka shrugged, settling back onto the stone platform. The cards in his hand continued to shuffle.
If it was just interrogating Omokage, Hisoka wasn't worried at all. He had indeed killed Omokage's puppet, and he wasn't lying about that.
He had no contact with Omokage whatsoever. Initially, Hisoka had even hoped to let Omokage's skills grow to a certain level before plucking that fruit himself.
But now, it seemed the fruit had not only grown crooked but also lost its appeal.
Hisoka glanced at the unconscious Omokage one last time, losing all interest.
Feitan and Shalnark took the 'Truth Sticker' from Morin and went to deal with Omokage.
Uvogin plopped down on the ground, staring intently at Hisoka. As an Enhancer, he might not have Machi's keen sixth sense, but he had an irrational intuition.
He didn't know if there was any connection between Hisoka and Omokage. But ever since arriving in this city, he had a nagging feeling: Hisoka was definitely up to something!
"I'll leave this to you guys," Chrollo said, having closed his book with no intention of reopening it.
He stood up, hands in his pockets, a gentle smile on his face, "I'm planning to head out."
"Are you going to the Nostrade family to find that precognitive Nen user?" Kortopi asked from the side, "Do you need us to accompany you?"
"No need, it's not a battle after all," he replied with a smile, clearly planning to use other means to acquire Neon's Nen ability.
"Morin, would you like to join me?" Chrollo suddenly asked Morin as he reached the door.
"Hmm?!" The other troupe members were slightly taken aback.
---
This was the first time they had seen Chrollo invite someone to accompany him on a mission.
And it was Morin, the vice-captain of the Phantom Troupe!
Was it really necessary for both the leader and vice-leader, the two kings of the troupe, to deal with a mere precognitive Nen user?
Morin glanced at Chrollo and noticed a particular look in his eyes. "Alright," Morin nodded.
He understood that Chrollo had something he wanted to discuss with him.
Under the watchful eyes of the other Spiders, the two of them slowly disappeared from the abandoned building.
Hisoka, on the other hand, kept a close eye on their departing figures, his expression calm and unreadable.
Morin and Chrollo walked under the deserted night sky. "Morin, you do have tools to verify whether Hisoka is telling the truth, don't you?" Chrollo asked as they walked.
"Yes, quite a few," Morin replied without hesitation. The 'Truth Sticker,' 'Truth Serum Pills,' and other tools all had such capabilities.
"Why not use them on Hisoka?" Chrollo asked, almost as if making casual conversation.
"Didn't you say he's currently one of our comrades?" Morin chuckled. "It's not beneficial for a team to act against a comrade based on suspicion alone."
"Besides, Hisoka wouldn't just sit back without resisting. If a fight broke out, it would be quite an ugly scene."
Chrollo nodded, "That's true." He had considered this, and he also had an inkling of Hisoka's intentions.
Every time Hisoka saw him, there was an almost palpable aggressiveness, undoubtedly wanting to test his skills against Chrollo's.
In the past, Chrollo might have cared about such things. But now, with higher goals and aspirations, he wasn't concerned with Hisoka's provocations.
However, if Hisoka were to take any actions detrimental to the troupe, Chrollo would have to pay attention.
This was why he intended to obtain Neon's fortune-telling ability—to at least foresee Hisoka's movements.
"I also discovered an unusual Nen attached to the 'Princess Korko's Full Mummy,'" Chrollo shared his findings with Morin.
The matter concerning the Dark Continent was why he had called Morin out for a private conversation. "To further explore the mummy's mysteries, we need to dispel that strange Nen first."
"I don't have any tools for removing Nen," Morin shrugged.
"Then I'll have to find an Exorcist," Chrollo smiled, unfazed. He had already planned to search for an Exorcist after their current mission was completed.
"Although I don't have Nen removal tools, I do have tools for finding an Exorcist," Morin offered.
"Yes, when it comes to finding people, I have plenty."
"Haha, that's a very reliable answer."
"By the way, Morin, you should have some tools related to divination and prophecy, right?" Chrollo suddenly remembered and asked.
"Quite a few," Morin began to introduce them to Chrollo one by one.
"The 'Prophecy Antenna,' for instance, which, when placed on your head, doesn't predict what will happen but prompts you to take certain actions to prevent mishaps."
However, this tool has a major drawback: it disregards your dignity. It prioritizes avoiding danger or gaining benefits, even if it means doing something embarrassing or laughable.
Apparently, Nobita's father once lost face in front of his art teacher because of it and decided never to use it again.
"There's also the 'Early Warning Antenna,' a special tool that notifies you of the location of an event before it occurs."
