Chapter 292

"After waiting for so long, I'm not interested in mere emotional skirmishes!" Hisoka declared with a playful smirk.

"You've brought out your true skills and trump cards just to kill me..." Hisoka's face twisted into a manic grin. "Does this mean you're declaring a long battle to the death? Oh, ho ho ho~"

"You've gotten serious, and that makes me so happy, Chrollo!" Hisoka exclaimed, his voice dripping with delight. "To honor your goodwill, I will definitely fight you until the very last moment!"

Hisoka bent forward, his flexible waist curling downwards, ready to pounce like a beast hunting its prey. His eyes were filled with an insatiable desire for his target.

"It seems that until the final outcome is revealed, you won't give up," Chrollo observed, shaking his head slightly and glancing at the shadow beside him. "You know you'll have to face both the shadow and me together, yet you're even more excited."

"In that case..." Chrollo opened his book again, stopping at a particular page. Was this the second ability he planned to use?

Hisoka kept a close eye on Chrollo's movements. When he saw the book open to a specific page, his senses heightened, and he braced himself, speculating on what ability Chrollo would unleash.

But then, to Hisoka's shock, Chrollo didn't activate any ability. Instead, he forcefully tore a page from the book. "Rip!!" The page fell to the ground and disintegrated into nothingness.

"Is it hard to understand?" Chrollo continued without looking at Hisoka, flipping to the next page. "This is a branch ability I developed apart from the 'Bookmark Chapter.' I call it 'The Destroyer of Books.'"

As he spoke, Chrollo tore another page from the book. "Originally, with the 'Bookmark Chapter,' I could mark a page and then open another, allowing me to use two stolen abilities simultaneously.

But coordinating them was cumbersome and problematic, so I developed this all-or-nothing ability."

"Every page I tear carries a stolen Nen ability. Once a page is torn, the stolen ability is released after the battle, returning to its original owner, and I can never steal that ability again."

"And in exchange for such harsh conditions, the effect is..." Chrollo's eyes gleamed like starlight, and Nen surged fiercely in his other hand.

"In this battle, I can fully utilize the abilities with minimal Nen and aura expenditure, achieving 100% effectiveness across all types of Nen abilities."

"Moreover, in this battle, abilities can be used without limit or the need to open the book. However, once the battle concludes, whether I win or lose, these abilities will return to their original owners."

"This was my final trump card, meant for a last resort, yet Hisoka, you're the first to experience it," Chrollo said softly, though Hisoka felt an immense pressure from him, despite the absence of any killing intent.

"But this is good. Familiarizing myself with the process now means I won't be as clumsy when using it in a real crisis in the future, ensuring safety more quickly." Chrollo explained with a smile, still tearing pages from the book.

"To deal with you, the number of abilities used for a single kill is breaking a unique record here, isn't it?"

Chrollo's gaze became eerily calm, almost terrifyingly so. "How many abilities do you think I'll use on you, Hisoka?"

The battle between Hisoka and Chrollo was reaching its peak intensity. Meanwhile, Morin and Maha's conversation was wrapping up.

Having Maha, an experienced elder, as a guide had undoubtedly broadened Morin's perspective and choices for the future.

These pieces of information were invaluable, not something you could buy elsewhere. "Thank you, old master, for your insights. I've learned a lot,"

Morin said, raising his cup of milk tea. "I toast to you with this milk tea!"

They both downed their drinks, exuding the spirit of drinking hard liquor despite it being just milk tea.

This banquet left both Morin and Maha satisfied, with Morin gaining valuable information and Maha forming a favorable connection with a top-tier world-class fighter.

For just a meal and some old-era intelligence, forming a bond with someone of such caliber was indeed a worthwhile exchange.

"If you can, you might want to chat with our family's second young one. He's quite adept in inventions, with his own unique experiences and thoughts," Maha suggested leisurely.

"It might give you new inspiration for your tools." Meanwhile, Milluki, who was focused on his meal, paused and looked up in confusion. How did the conversation suddenly involve me?

"If I get the chance, I'll discuss it with him," Morin replied.

---

Morin glanced at Milluki with a smile.

Boom!!

At that moment, a thunderous explosion erupted from a distant skyscraper.

"But it seems now is not the time," Morin said, setting down his bowl and teacup. "Pardon me, I must take my leave."

With a polite nod, Morin rose and left the table. Maha watched Morin's back as he departed.

"What do you think, Kalluto?" Maha suddenly asked. "Do you still want to join the Phantom Troupe?"

"I don't think so," Kallutp replied slowly, a complex expression crossing his face.

"I used to think that even though the Phantom Troupe was tricky, my strength could place me among the top members."

"But now, it seems I've underestimated them and this world," he sighed. "I need more experience."

In the original timeline, Kalluto joined the Phantom Troupe as Hisoka's replacement to bring his brother Killua back, becoming the new number 4.

He thought he was the second strongest in the troupe, but during the mission to Meteor City to eliminate the Chimera Ants, he realized his power was insignificant within the group.

Yet, his strength was undeniably high among his peers, even surpassing Killua at this point.

"So, have you thought of another way to bring little Killua back home?" Maha chuckled.

Kalluto had intended to use the Troupe's power to retrieve Killua, but now that he had abandoned that idea, he needed another plan.

"I'm planning to find my brother now," Kalluto said. "I spoke with Kurapika earlier; it seems my brother is with that spiky-haired kid."

"They seem to be gathering money to buy something, and I happen to have some savings."

"Maybe I can lend him money, making Killua owe me a favor and come home with me."

Kalluto was willing to use any means necessary to bring Killua back.

"Gathering money?" Milluki perked up at the mention. "I also need to buy some items at this auction. Can you lend me a bit, Kalluto?"

"No, I have no money!" Kalluto bluntly refused.

"Wow, that's cold," Milluki remarked, squinting at Kalluto. "You have money for Killua but not for me. You really know how to play favorites."

In truth, Milluki believed he had enough money to purchase the game, and asking Kalluto was more of a casual remark. Kalluto's refusal was expected, but it still irked him.

"You said it yourself; that's my brother Killua. Do you think you compare to him?" Kalluto retorted with biting sarcasm.

"I'm older, more experienced, smarter, and more knowledgeable!" Milluki shot back defiantly. "In what way am I not better than him?"

"Killua is slimmer than you," Kalluto quipped, his sharp tongue in full force. "That's more than enough!"

Milluki: "..."

The world is too harsh on the overweight. Frustrated and cold, Milluki wondered if there was any hope for people like him. (TN: There is hope if you get thinner lmao)

Talking with Kalluto felt like self-inflicted humiliation, so Milluki channeled his frustration into his meal, eating with gusto.

I eat well and live comfortably on my own!

With Milluki full of resentment and Kalluto slightly disdainful, Maha watched the two Zoldyck youngsters with a wide grin.

"You two have such a close bond," he remarked.

The massive explosion had drawn the attention of nearly everyone nearby. Morin didn't need any tools to deduce that it was the result of Hisoka and Chrollo's battle.

Judging by the sound and intensity of the explosion, it was likely the decisive final blow.

As for who won?

Unless Hisoka had a weapon akin to Netero's Poor Man's Rose, a near-nuclear device, the explosion was likely caused by a Nen ability Chrollo had stolen.

If Chrollo used such an ability, the victory was practically assured.

This explosion was even more powerful than the one during their duel at Heaven's Arena, where Hisoka was left severely injured, with broken limbs and barely a part of him intact.

Moreover, he had suffocated to death in the explosion's aftermath.

Looking at it now...

It's uncertain if Hisoka was blown to bits.
