Chapter 302

As for now?

Neither side knew each other.

Except for Killua, who was more cautious and wary of Phinks and Feitan, Gon and Leorio were quite oblivious—Gon due to his inherent innocence and Leorio because his mind was elsewhere.

Feitan and Phinks didn't pay much attention to Gon and Killua either.

Even though they had trained in Nen and seemed to be quite proficient, in Feitan and Phinks' eyes, it was just decent at best.

They were merely strangers passing by, with no intention of bothering each other as long as no one provoked them.

But—

"Hey, are you guys here for the auction too, planning to bid on something?"

Gon looked at Phinks, his senses as an Enhancer making him blink a few times before asking.

"Yeah, why?"

Phinks replied half-heartedly, maintaining his indifferent demeanor.

"Everyone here is basically determined to get the items they want. Could there be anyone else?"

Feitan chimed in, his eyes still glued to his book.

"True."

Gon scratched his head, noticing that Feitan's gaze lingered on the page about the Greed Island items. He couldn't help but ask,

"Is your target also [Greed Island]?"

"Also?"

Phinks glanced at him, "What, is that so-called dream game your target?"

"Yeah, this game is really important to me."

Gon nodded earnestly, as if he was naturally familiar with everyone.

"You seem to know a lot about this game, don't you?"

Feitan finally shifted his gaze from the auction catalog to focus on Gon.

"Well, not really. I just know about its existence. As for the gameplay and other details, I'm not very clear." Gon studied Feitan for a moment before honestly admitting.

He sensed an unusual danger emanating from Feitan.

"I see."

Feitan lost interest in Gon again, returning to his reading.

"The starting bid alone is several billion Jenny. Can a kid like you really afford it?"

Phinks joked casually.

"Absolutely!!"

Gon didn't seem to catch the teasing tone and replied seriously,

"I've prepared well for this. Money won't be an issue. I will definitely win [Greed Island]!!" Gon's tone was firm.

"Haha, good luck with that."

Feitan offered a rare, albeit perfunctory, word of support.

"Really?!"

Phinks found Gon rather agreeable, laughing as he patted the armrest,

"I heard the game has four slots, and with expansions, it can accommodate sixteen players."

"If you do win it, how about letting us join in?"

"Sure."

Gon agreed without hesitation.

"Hey, hey."

Killua, exasperated, tugged on Gon's shirt.

He had barely shifted his attention to the more dangerous Feitan when Gon made an agreement with Phinks without him even realizing.

"It's fine, Killua."

Gon smiled at Killua, "Games are more fun with more people!!"

"That was one of Ging's original intentions for creating this game, you know!!"

"You..."

Killua let go, feeling a headache coming on, "It's your money, do what you want."

"Did he really agree?"

Phinks was a bit surprised as he looked at Gon,

"You, kid, don't you have any sense of caution towards strangers?"

Phinks pointed to his face, "Shouldn't you suspect I'm a bad guy and be a bit wary of me?"

"Look at me, I look fierce, and I don't even have eyebrows."

As he spoke, he dramatically moved the skin above his eyes.

"What?! It's true, you don't have eyebrows!!!"

Hearing Phinks' words, Gon finally reacted, exclaiming loudly,

"Killua, Leorio, look! This guy doesn't have eyebrows!!!"

Killua: "..."

Phinks: "..."

---

Next to him, Feitan muttered, "Idiot."

Feitan wasn't referring to Gon with those words; he was talking about Phinks.

In Feitan's eyes, Phinks bringing up such a topic was nothing short of foolish.

Phinks might have realized he asked a rather silly question, as he looked at Gon with a sense of helplessness.

He hadn't expected Gon to react that way—ignoring whether he was a bad guy and instead focusing on his relatively unimportant lack of eyebrows.

Such a peculiar individual was a first for him.

However—

"This guy is actually quite to my liking."

Phinks grinned slightly.

"This guy is definitely an Enhancer!!"

The straightforward Enhancer personality and the amusing, candid behavior didn't annoy Phinks; rather, he found a bit of appreciation and fondness for Gon.

Killua was at a complete loss with Gon, covering his face and pretending not to know him.

Just as Gon and the others were making a commotion, the lights in the auction venue suddenly dimmed.

A single spotlight illuminated the stage at the front.

A figure gracefully walked from backstage to the stage.

"Thank you all for waiting. The Nampis Auction is officially starting!!"

The hostess, dressed in a red evening gown, confidently announced on stage:

"Welcome, everyone, to today's event!! The items in Hall B are all unique in style."

The hostess chuckled lightly, "For those of you here for these peculiar items, you must be quite the characters yourselves."

Her attempt to build rapport and set the mood elicited laughter from the crowd.

The wealthy attendees exchanged knowing smiles, understanding each other's inclinations.

"But that's the mark of a collector, the pride of an enthusiast!!"

"Don't mind the judgment of the ordinary; bid freely on the items you desire!"

The hostess's voice was vibrant and resonant, her arm extending upward.

At that moment, she elevated the atmosphere to a fever pitch.

The auction for [Greed Island]—Phinks finds Gon increasingly likable!

"First up is the initial auction item!!"

With a graceful wave of her slender arm, an auction item was wheeled out on a cart.

"The fossilized dung of a Brazilian General Dragon!!"

Yes, starting with a dung fossil, quite a unique taste~~~

Quickly, one auction item after another was brought out from backstage.

As the atmosphere in the venue heated up, the final prices of each item continued to climb.

Finally, one of the main events of the auction arrived.

"Next, we have this dream game, [Greed Island]. Please focus on the center of the screen!!"

The large screen projected an image of Greed Island.

"Hmm, that game is so strange. There's no power source, yet the power light is flashing."

People whispered among themselves.

"Exactly!"

The hostess, seeing the crowd's enthusiasm and curiosity piqued, smiled slightly:

"Some of you may have already noticed!"

"This game console doesn't require a power source; it operates on an incredible force!!"

As soon as she finished speaking, a muscular bald man carrying a large black hammer emerged from backstage.

He positioned himself at the center of the venue, flexing his muscles, veins bulging, and with a fierce expression, he raised the hammer.

He brought it crashing down onto the table holding the Greed Island console.

Bang!!

A loud crash echoed as the table shattered.

Yet, [Greed Island] remained unscathed, not a scratch on it.

Simultaneously, an invisible aura of Nen shielded it from harm.

"Nen, huh?"

Both Phinks and Feitan used Gyo, observing the dense white aura with intrigued expressions.

"A game made with Nen, and the protective aura around it isn't weak either. It seems like quite an impressive game."

"Interesting."

Feitan admitted his interest was piqued, and Phinks grinned as well.

"So this is the game Ging created..."

Gon also gazed intently at the game.

"I must win it!!"
