In Naruto, the System Asks Me to Entrust Pokémon

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: The Evolution System That Shocked Everyone

Seeing the bright light surrounding Eevee, Ryo's lips curled into a bitter smile. He knew exactly what was happening.

It was evolving.

For a moment, he didn't even know how to react.

Eevee evolves once its affection level reaches the maximum, and given the connection between him and his Pokémon, it naturally starts at full affection.

How could it not evolve?

Originally, Ryo hadn't planned to reveal the concept of evolution so soon. He wanted these people to discover it on their own through experience.

But unexpectedly, the evolution happened right in front of Yuhi Kurenai and her team.

The group watched Ryo with concern, but before he could say anything, the light surrounding Eevee began to fade. Its body shimmered as it quickly underwent a transformation.

Everyone held their breath, their eyes fixed on the scene.

"Eevee~!"

Moments later, the transformation stopped, and the light disappeared.

"What… what's this? Boss, what's happening?" Yuhi Kurenai asked in shock as she stared at the Pokémon that looked nothing like the Eevee from earlier.

The others also looked at Ryo with wide, bewildered eyes.

Ryo glanced at the newly evolved Pokémon, then turned back to the group. "This is evolution. It's one of the most unique abilities of Pokémon."

"Evolution?"

The four of them looked at him blankly, struggling to understand.

"Yes." Ryo nodded. "Many Pokémon have the ability to evolve. After evolving, they become stronger—not just in physical strength but also in their skills and even their elemental attributes. Some Pokémon's very nature changes upon evolution."

As they listened, their pupils gradually widened, their expressions turning to astonishment.

Pokémon were already incredibly powerful, but now there was an evolution system on top of that?

"Boss, you're saying that all Pokémon can evolve? What about the Pokémon that Kakashi and the others have?"

Ryo nodded again. "Yes, their Pokémon can evolve as well. They just haven't met the conditions for evolution yet."

Kiba couldn't hold back his curiosity. "Boss, what are the conditions for evolution?"

Ryo rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "There are many conditions. The most common one is level—once a Pokémon reaches a certain level, it evolves naturally. Some Pokémon require special items to evolve. As long as they have the right item, they'll evolve instantly."

"The most troublesome type of evolution is emotion-based evolution. It's hard to measure and requires emotional strength, making it the most unpredictable and difficult."

"Of course, it's hard to explain all of this in detail now. I'll organize the information later. If you're interested, I can share it with you then."

Yuhi Kurenai and the others nodded, their hearts filled with amazement.

They never imagined that evolution alone could be so complex, with so many different types.

Yuhi Kurenai glanced at the newly evolved Pokémon in Ryo's arms. "Boss, this Eevee evolved because of emotional strength, didn't it?"

Ryo nodded. "Yes, that's correct. But now that it has evolved, it's no longer called Eevee. It's now an Espeon."

Since its affection level was maxed out and it was daytime, Eevee naturally evolved into the psychic-type Espeon.

"Boss, does that mean Eevee and Espeon are considered different species?" Yuhi Kurenai asked after a brief pause.

Ryo was a little surprised by her insight but nodded. "Exactly. You're absolutely right."

Yuhi Kurenai nodded thoughtfully and didn't ask any further questions.

At that moment, Ryo turned to the group. "Alright, let's head to the back now."

Since Eevee had already hatched and evolved, it was time to let them choose their Pokémon and leave.

The group nodded, their eyes filled with anticipation.

Even Shino and Hinata seemed excited about the Pokémon they would soon receive.

Ryo led them to the open space behind the cabin.

Standing in the clearing, Ryo turned toward Dragonite. "Dragonite, could you call everyone back?"

"Rawr—"

Dragonite nodded and flapped its wings, disappearing in an instant.

Yuhi Kurenai's pupils contracted as she witnessed its speed.

"So fast."

The speed of Dragonite was so overwhelming that she couldn't even react. If it had attacked her, she wouldn't have had time to dodge.

Ryo noticed Yuhi Kurenai's expression and smiled without saying a word.

In the anime, Dragonite could circle the Earth in 16 hours.

Such speed would shock even someone like Madara.

Before long, Dragonite returned, leading a group of playful Pokémon out of the nearby forest.

"Rawr~"

Standing in front of Ryo, Dragonite pointed toward the Pokémon behind it and let out a cry.

"Thank you, Dragonite."

Dragonite shook its head and quietly took a position next to Ryo, once again assuming the role of a bodyguard.

Ryo looked at the returning Pokémon and said, "Alright, everyone, we have new partners to choose from. If you're interested, feel free to pick one."

"Squirtle~"

"Charmander~"

The Pokémon began responding cheerfully, ready to meet their potential new trainers.

The Pokémon nodded and turned their gazes toward Yuhi Kurenai's group.

Realizing it was their turn, the group quickly gathered their thoughts.

Kiba looked at Ryo and asked, "Boss, there are only four available?"

"Why? None of them catch your interest?" Ryo asked with a puzzled expression. Since Kakashi's group had picked their Pokémon, Ryo hadn't had the chance to draw more.

Thus, the available options were Squirtle, Rattata, Pidgey, and Caterpie.

Kiba scratched his head, feeling slightly embarrassed. "Yeah… none of these are quite what I was hoping for."

Seeing his reaction, Ryo nodded in understanding. "Alright. If you want a different Pokémon, you'll have to wait a bit."

Kiba's eyes lit up. "Great! I'll wait, Boss!"

Ryo turned to the rest of the group. "What about you guys? Do you want to wait, or do you want to choose now?"

Yuhi Kurenai blinked and glanced at the Espeon in Ryo's arms. "Boss, can I choose that one?"

Ryo's face changed slightly, and he quickly shook his head. "Nope, this one's mine. It's not part of the selection."

Internally, he sighed in exasperation. Seriously? She wants to take my Espeon?

Yuhi Kurenai looked a bit disappointed. "Fine, I'll wait too. Maybe the next batch will have something that suits me better."

Ryo nodded and turned toward Hinata and Shino.

Hinata, nervous as always, stammered, "I-I'll wait too."

Shino, however, quietly studied the Caterpie before speaking. "Boss, can I choose this one?"
