Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Not as Impressive as a Pokémon Egg
"Ahem—"
Ryo noticed Cynthia's expression and coughed lightly before nodding seriously. "Yes, that's right. Work hard, and you'll have a chance to go back."
He had no idea how she might return, but maybe there would be an opportunity in the future.
If there was a chance to return, working hard was obviously necessary. If she didn't work for him, how could he let her go back?
So technically, it wasn't wrong—working hard might really give her a chance to return.
If the system never provided a way back, then there wouldn't be any chance of returning. After all, he only said might, not definitely.
Cynthia shook her head. "No, I have to go back now. Otherwise, Team Galactic will destroy the ruins."
The ruins of a legendary Pokémon were also something Team Galactic was searching for. If she returned too late and they found the ruins first, how would she get another chance to explore?
Ryo shook his head. "There's no way you can go back right now. But don't worry, you're only looking for legendary Pokémon, right? I have a chance of summoning them in the future. It's better for you to stay here."
Cynthia was momentarily stunned, then stared at him suspiciously. "Are you sure?"
Hearing that, Ryo couldn't hold back and pointed to the Pokémon egg in his arms. "Do you know what this egg is? This is a Diancie egg. It's a legendary Pokémon in your world too, right?"
Cynthia's eyes lit up with excitement as she quickly moved closer, carefully observing the egg. "Diancie? The Diamond Princess? You're not lying to me, are you?"
Ryo nodded with a smug expression. "Of course not. It's definitely Diancie."
"Alright."
Cynthia nodded firmly. "Then I'll stay here. Please take care of me, Boss."
Although she said this, her eyes never left the Diancie egg for a second.
Anyone who didn't know the situation might have thought she was calling the egg her boss.
For some reason, Ryo had thought he'd be happy to hear her say that.
But now that he actually heard it, there wasn't a trace of joy—he even felt a bit disappointed.
He had explained everything for so long, yet it couldn't compare to a Pokémon egg?
And that expression on her face—was it serious? He could almost read the words Why didn't you say that earlier? from her eyes.
"Boss, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Noticing his expression, Cynthia raised her head and asked with concern.
Even Gardevoir looked worried. "Yeah, Ryo, are you okay?"
"Ahem—"
Ryo quickly came back to his senses, coughing twice before shaking his head. "No, I was just thinking about something. Since you've made up your mind, let me show you around the place."
He couldn't stay here any longer. If this went on, his remaining confidence would be completely shattered.
After placing the Pokémon egg into the incubation machine, he brought out Dragonite and Espeon to introduce them to Cynthia and Gardevoir.
After the introductions, he watched Cynthia return to the cabin to continue examining the Pokéball and couldn't help but shake his head in exasperation.
"Why are people from the Pokémon world so obsessed with legendary Pokémon?"
He couldn't understand it at all.
"Alright, stop glaring at each other. You're all my partners, not enemies."
Still pondering, Ryo turned around and saw Dragonite and Gardevoir glaring at each other. He sighed in disbelief.
"Rawr~"
"I got it, Ryo," they both responded, finally stopping their staredown.
Ryo took out a stone tablet and handed it to Dragonite. "Dragonite, take off the Dragon Fang and put this stone tablet on instead."
Although both items boosted Dragon-type moves, the stone tablet also enhanced training efficiency and helped in learning new moves.
It wasn't like the stone tablet couldn't be taken off later. When he got another Dragon-type Pokémon, he could always retrieve it from Dragonite.
Since it was more effective to wear it directly than to stay near it, it made sense for Dragonite to keep it for now.
Dragonite's eyes widened in shock at the sight of the stone tablet, clearly sensing the intense Dragon-type energy radiating from it.
Meanwhile, Gardevoir and Espeon were only mildly curious. They could sense the power, but it didn't interest them since Dragon-type energy had no effect on them.
"Rawr?"
After a moment of hesitation, Dragonite asked Ryo with a questioning tone.
Ryo nodded. "Yes, it's for you to wear. If I get another Dragon-type Pokémon later, I'll retrieve it."
Hearing this, Dragonite nodded and took off the Dragon Fang, handing it to Ryo before carefully putting on the stone tablet.
…
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world.
Near the Land of Waves, not far from Konoha—
"Kakashi-sensei, is this the Land of Waves? It doesn't look much different from Konoha," Naruto commented as their boat approached the shore.
Kakashi's face turned expressionless, choosing not to respond to Naruto's observation.
What difference was he expecting? It was still part of the same world—not like they had traveled to another dimension.
Besides, the Land of Waves wasn't that far from Konoha. Other than being near the sea, what other differences did he think there would be?
"Alright, let's disembark," Kakashi said, jumping off the boat and heading for the shore.
The others followed one by one. Once Tazuna docked the boat, the group set off toward their mission destination.
"The area outside Konoha isn't that special. It's just like Konoha—trees everywhere," Naruto remarked as they walked through the forest, unable to contain his thoughts.
He had expected something different when they left the village, but everything seemed the same—forests and more forests.
Kakashi, once again, felt a wave of exasperation. Even Sasuke and the others couldn't help but share the same expression.
"Alright, enough. Let's focus on the mission first," Kakashi said, shaking his head.
He truly didn't want to hear Naruto ramble any longer—his head was starting to hurt.
