Chapter 95: Chapter 95: Charmeleon
In the first exam room of the Konoha Chūnin Exams, Morino Ibiki suddenly revealed a faint smile.
"Congratulations, you all passed."
The examinees below looked at him with confusion.
Seeing their puzzled expressions, Ibiki began explaining the reasoning behind the test.
Once he finished, the tense atmosphere dissipated as the participants sighed in relief.
Many of them turned their grateful gazes toward Naruto.
If not for Naruto's last-minute passionate speech, many of them might not have had the courage to persevere until now.
As for Naruto himself, he stood there in a daze.
He hadn't expected his reckless, hot-headed decision to actually work.
Realizing this, his face lit up, and he burst out excitedly,
"Yes! I passed!"
His outburst set off a wave of cheers among some of the other examinees.
Ibiki shook his head slightly at the sight and spoke up again.
"Alright, quiet down. Don't celebrate too soon. This was only the first stage. If you fail the next one, the result will be the same."
As if a bucket of cold water had been dumped over them, the candidates quickly calmed down.
Crash—
Suddenly, the window shattered as a scroll flew into the room.
Bold letters on the scroll read: "Second Exam"
Whoosh—
In the next instant, a figure leaped into the room.
"I am Anko Mitarashi, the proctor for the second exam. All of you, follow me."
Despite her sudden appearance, the examinees were momentarily too stunned to react.
Even Ibiki, standing nearby, couldn't help but twitch his lips at her over-the-top entrance.
Does she really have to be this dramatic?
Seeing the blank stares, Anko's expression turned slightly awkward. Then, she furrowed her brows and snapped,
"What are you waiting for? Move! Anyone who can't keep up doesn't need to take the exam!"
With that, she turned and leaped back out the window.
The stunned participants finally snapped out of it and quickly followed, one after another jumping out after her.
Good thing this was the world of Naruto—otherwise, jumping out of a building like this would probably go down in history.
A short while later, the candidates gathered at the entrance to the Forest of Death.
Anko glanced over the group with a smirk.
"Look at you, already out of breath? Maybe you should all just go home. Being a ninja isn't child's play."
Many of the examinees clenched their fists, their eyes flashing with anger at her taunting words.
Anko's grin widened.
"Not bad. That's the kind of look I like to see."
Then, her expression turned cold.
"But you sure are brave, looking at me like that."
A wave of killing intent suddenly spread out from her.
Immediately, many candidates turned pale, their bodies trembling with fear.
Of course, a few remained unfazed, easily withstanding the pressure.
Seeing this, Anko nodded in approval and withdrew her killing intent.
"Alright, now for the rules of this exam. Each team will receive one of three types of scrolls—Heaven, Earth, or Man..."
After a lengthy explanation, she suddenly flashed a wicked grin.
"One last reminder—this forest is filled with danger. If you die inside, no one will come to save you."
A chill ran through the crowd at her words.
Not caring for their reactions, Anko continued,
"Now, line up to receive your team's scroll. The exam is about to begin."
One by one, the teams collected their scrolls and entered the Forest of Death.
Just as things were wrapping up, Anko suddenly felt a chill at the back of her neck.
She instinctively pulled out a kunai and slashed behind her as she spun around, her eyes sharp and dangerous.
"Don't stand behind me unless you want to die!"
Orochimaru, standing there, simply smiled.
"Understood, Examiner-sama."
Inside the Forest of Death—Naruto's team.
The trio moved cautiously, keeping a close watch on their surroundings.
"Sasuke, Naruto, what are we going to do about our scroll?" Sakura asked nervously, glancing around.
Sasuke's answer was simple.
"Take one."
Whoosh—
The moment he spoke, three figures rushed toward them.
Hearing the movement, Naruto and Sasuke immediately got into fighting stances, their eyes filled with vigilance.
Sakura, on the other hand, instinctively took a step back.
"There they are. I saw their scroll—it's the one we need," one of the approaching ninja said.
The other two nodded, their eyes gleaming.
"Hand over your scroll, kids, and we'll let you live."
"Yeah, fight back, and you won't walk out of here alive."
Hearing this, Naruto and Sasuke scowled.
The sheer arrogance in their voices was infuriating.
"Naruto, leave this to me," Sasuke said, pulling out a Poké Ball.
Over the past few days, his Charmander had evolved into Charmeleon.
However, it hadn't had a chance to fight since evolving.
This seemed like the perfect opportunity.
Naruto hesitated, then stepped back.
He knew Charmeleon had evolved, so he didn't argue.
"Charmeleon!"
Sasuke tossed the Poké Ball, his gaze icy as he glared at the opposing team.
The enemy ninja burst into laughter.
"This kid thinks he can take us on alone? What a joke!"
"Heh, since he doesn't know his place, let's send him straight to hell!"
"Char!"
A deep growl echoed through the forest, cutting their laughter short.
Their eyes widened as they caught sight of Charmeleon.
"Is that... a summon?"
"This brat already has a summoning beast?!"
"Wait… No, it didn't appear from a summoning seal. It came from that ball!"
Sasuke ignored their murmurs and commanded,
"Charmeleon, let's try out our new move—Dragon Rage!"
Charmeleon nodded, its eyes blazing with fury.
It inhaled deeply, then unleashed a surge of draconic energy in a massive shockwave.
The enemy team barely had time to react before the attack came hurtling toward them.
