Chapter 35: Chapter 35: My Dad Moves Out, You Sit on Top
That Ark Gang leader, Reina…
If she wasn't corrupted by Tzeentch, then she must have a hole in her head.
Zhou Yun had already made that judgment before even leaving the Ark Gang headquarters.
Her biggest problem was that plan of hers, which was full of holes.
Even if she really managed to build a ship capable of warp travel and safely reached the Baal system…
But… that was Baal, after all — homeworld of the Blood Angels and the target of the Leviathan hive fleet.
To take Baal, the Great Devourer even disregarded biomass losses, because what it truly wanted was the gene-seed of the Primarch Sanguinius.
On top of that, Khorne's daemons, drawn by war and angel's progeny, also came to join the slaughter.
During the Battle of Baal, the planet and its moons were turned into barren wastelands.
Not to mention mortals — even the Blood Angels barely one in ten survived.
Reina was just jumping from one frying pan into another.
…Not that Reina herself would have to worry about that by then.
On her way to Baal, she'd probably burn her brain to ash just maintaining the Geller field.
Still, though Zhou Yun didn't support her brilliant plan,
he had to admit: she was loaded.
If he didn't scam some money off this rich idiot, Zhou Yun would feel bad — it went against his noble moral standards!
Thinking of this, Zhou Yun pushed open the door and walked into the Spearhead Tavern.
Old One-Eye, who was arranging bottles behind the counter, turned his head.
Seeing it was Zhou Yun, he poured him a drink and went back to his work.
Zhou Yun, parched from fighting Reina and talking for so long, waited for Old One-Eye to look away, then slipped the glass into his four-dimensional pocket.

Making sure Old One-Eye hadn't spiked it, Zhou Yun downed the glass in one gulp.
"Where's that guy Lag?" Zhou Yun asked after.
"Still sleeping in the back." Old One-Eye replied.
Zhou Yun's expression grew strange. Still sleeping?
"Your sedative's that strong?"
"When he woke up and saw you gone, he got sulky and begged me for a drink," Old One-Eye said, sitting down opposite Zhou Yun. "I figured that bottle of drugged stuff shouldn't go to waste, so I sold it to him again."
"And he just drank it?!" Zhou Yun raised an eyebrow in disbelief.
Old One-Eye made a helpless gesture. "That's just how his brain works."
"What a genius…" Zhou Yun shook his head.
Lag's quality of sleep today probably beat even his own.
Unless he got motion sick, Zhou Yun usually slept well.
"How's your business? You going to the underhive or another district?"
Old One-Eye shrugged, poured himself a drink, and said:
"That one's on me — a farewell drink between brothers."
"I want to go to the spire." Zhou Yun said evenly.
Old One-Eye nearly spat out his drink.
"How about I arrange you straight to the Holy Terra instead?"
"If you can get me to Holy Terra, great!" Zhou Yun grinned and pretended to be thrilled.
"You know I've always been a devout Imperial believer, hoping to go on pilgrimage."
"And if you can throw in a three-bedroom apartment on Terra, even better."
"Fine, how about a whole tower next to the Palace?" Old One-Eye laughed.
"I think the whole Palace is nice." Zhou Yun chuckled.
At this, Old One-Eye's face grew serious. "Now that sounds a bit blasphemous."
"Definitely blasphemous. You planning to kick my dad out and take his spot?" The winged figure in white light nodded.
Zhou Yun nodded too, admitting his earlier words had gone too far.
After all, evicting a bed-ridden, vegetative father from his home was a bit much.
Zhou Yun sipped his crimson liquor, looked at Old One-Eye and said:
"I met that Ark Gang boss. She… isn't all there, but she's not who I thought."
"Not unusual for a rogue psyker to be nuts," Old One-Eye said calmly. "So you're not running?"
"Shame. There goes a nice cut — but don't forget to pay for your drink."
With that, he rubbed his fingers, meaning this one wasn't on the house.
Zhou Yun smiled, drained his glass and said, "Really? So stingy?"
"I got a big deal for you…"
"You're starting to sound like Lag. He rub off on you?" Old One-Eye tapped the table.
Yeah, I was corrupted by the warp god Lag, Zhou Yun muttered inwardly.
"I need two passes. To the spire."
Old One-Eye blinked, then shook his head:
"Can't do it."
"You can. You've got connections to the top," Zhou Yun said, motioning for a refill.
Old One-Eye poured him another gut-strengthening special.
"Money's no problem, however much it takes."
Zhou Yun took the glass and smiled.
After all, Reina was footing the bill — he'd just take his cut.
Start by skimming fifty percent off the top…
Old One-Eye didn't seem surprised Zhou Yun guessed he had connections upstairs.
"I don't want money."
Well, that won't do — how am I supposed to skim off the top if you don't take money? Zhou Yun thought.
If you don't take it, how does she pay?
If she doesn't pay, how does Zhou Yun get his cut?
If Zhou Yun doesn't take a cut, how does everyone advance?
"I want Ignace Karkasy's book," Old One-Eye said.
"Fine!" Zhou Yun reacted quickly, putting on a wronged expression. "You! You think I pocketed it?"
"What would I even do with that? You think I love poetry or something?"
Zhou Yun fumed:
"Swear to me — I didn't find it! Search me, my place, whatever! If you find it I swear I won't ascend to the Golden Throne."
"With that blasphemous mouth of yours, you weren't getting there anyway."
Old One-Eye shook his head.
"The Emperor teaches us honesty. You and Lag just can't learn it."
"But the Emperor also teaches us to trust… I'll trust you this time."
Old One-Eye continued:
"Spire passes… fine. I'll ask upstairs."
"Come back tomorrow — I'll tell you if it's possible."
