Chapter 122: The Man Who Became God
⚠️Warning: This chapter gets a little crazy and might raise a lot of questions — but I believe the buildup has been more than enough.
Arthur felt blood spill from his mouth as he crashed into the wall of a building several meters away from the VVIP building they were staying in.
'What happened?'
He had been just about to attack Bruce when…
His thoughts trailed off.
'Huh?'
Bruce was holding back, that much he knew, but even then…
Arthur pressed his palm against the gaping wound that tore through both his abdomen and upper left leg.
His blurred, bloodstained vision lifted slightly, and there she was, Rachel, standing with a large rocket launcher.
"What kind of sick joke is this?"
Bruce was about to yell at her, but the moment he saw her expression, he fell silent.
Rachel took deliberate steps toward where Arthur lay, and just like in every cliché scene, everyone arrived at once.
Isabella, Amelia, Cassie, Ellie, Elizabeth, and Eira, as if answering a roll call.
Rachel smirked, though the fear in her eyes couldn't be fully hidden.
"You did well, Mr. Handsome," she said, her tone tinged with relief. "Never would I have thought you'd fight so well even with the restrictions here. I guess God's on my side."
Arthur stared at her, unable to move.
Then, through a cracked voice, he rasped, "Do I look dead to you?"
Rachel raised an eyebrow. "What?"
Arthur lifted his chin slightly. "This isn't a damn sob story."
Before Rachel could respond, the entire world blazed with red light.
Above the clouds, beyond the reach of the mechanism, loomed a colossal golden dragon with burning crimson eyes.
It was majestic, radiating unmistakable royalty.
'Nice timing, Nathira.'
In her dragon form, Nathira opened her jaws and bathed the entire city in hellfire, flames hot enough to scorch mana itself.
As she had anticipated, a massive barrier absorbed the flames, yet even it struggled beneath the breath of an ancient dragon.
It was well known that a dragon's strength multiplied in their true form, meaning at that moment, she stood as a low-level Supreme.
An Immortal beyond Immortals.
Rachel bit her lip, her nails digging into her thighs, as web-like cracks began spreading across the city's sky, no, across the barrier.
Arthur grinned through his bloodied face and summoned his stats window.
He was certain he could heal all his wounds with the Revival Authority as long as he had mana, but that alone wasn't enough.
"System…" he whispered, "merge all my authorities."
『 ... 』
Arthur coughed more blood. "What are you waiting for? You're not even sentient."
A moment passed before it answered.
Ding!
『 You have merged all your authorities 』
Arthur waited, but nothing happened.
Then—
Notifications.
Countless notifications flooded his mind at once.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Congratulations! Congratulations!
The words echoed over and over.
Seeing his expression, Rachel gritted her teeth and lunged toward him.
Instantly, the barrier shattered into countless fragments, and torrents of mana and force poured in like spectral streams of light, striking one point.
Rachel, closing in on Arthur, jumped back as a beam of rainbow-coloured light descended upon him.
Not just her, everyone around them felt it.
No… it wasn't just them. Everyone in the world felt it.
To many, it felt strangely nostalgic.
The sky splitting. The brilliant light.
Ding!
『 Glorious! You have stepped into the realm only the One has ever trespassed 』
『 The World Shall Know You From This Day As God 』
SCATTER—
In an instant, the brilliance dispersed across the world, bathing it in a kaleidoscope of colours.
Where the figure once stood, a vast fissure split the earth, as if from a massive quake.
And above, hovering in the sky, was a lone man surrounded by countless golden orbs, each edged with iridescent light, resembling shimmering celestial stars.
They didn't just cover the city, they spanned the entire world.
No matter the city, kingdom, or continent, everyone could see the man and the star-like orbs glittering in the moonlit sky.
Breaths caught at the sight.
"Beautiful."
It was the only word that fit.
True beauty.
And as all gazed upward, wounds began to heal, and mana and force replenished.
Nathira, who had landed after the rainbow eruption, stared at her husband.
"How is it possible?"
Sylvia, seated on the ground beside her, struggled to breathe. "How didn't I notice before?"
The man floated effortlessly in the sky, clad in a slightly worn white shirt and simple black trousers, his shoulder-length white hair flowing like strands of silk.
Yet nothing compared to his eyes; they were divine, like rainbows forged into pupils.
Not metaphorically. Real, godlike pupils.
The entire world knew it.
God had appeared.
The young man gazed down.
The world seemed both distant and near.
And the people below looked like specks of dust scattered across the land.
So this is what it feels like to be God?
That's what he wanted to think, but he knew in this state one thought could erase the entire continent.
『 Does My Lord wish to reset the world back and erase His enemies? 』
He couldn't control this power yet.
But the choice was clear.
Everything would return to the way it was, and the evil in front of him would face the weight of their sins.
Everything began from color, and originality lay within it.
With a flick of his finger, the orbs streaked at incomprehensible speed, sweeping up every single living being in the world and lifting them into the sky.
Rachel stood frozen, as she and her men remained behind, while the rest of the world ascended like stars.
She couldn't speak as the young man uttered a single word in an ancient, forgotten tongue:
«reset»
That single word shook the world.
First tremors, then the spinning began.
The gods, Tessia and Agrat, could only remain still in the higher realm, watching as the world began to reform and reset.
Then…
Everything went blank.
Ding! Ding!
