Chapter 643: Opportunity
The dragon's mouth was lined with rows of sharp, formidable teeth, and it had a bioluminescent lure that dangled from its lower jaw, which it used to attract smaller creatures. As it opened its maw, one could see the menacing array of teeth and the cavernous interior where it stored its prey.
After opening its mouth, the creature fired a concentrated blast of water that felt like a laser… it was thin and fast, and when it hit the ground after Rain jumped to the side, it made the land tremble, leaving a deep fissure behind.
Rain looked to the side at the fissure… if out of its domain, the beast was that strong, it would be nearly impossible to fight on water or on its cave where its treasures could be found.
"Wait… I can use that," Rain thought.
The creature pointed its tentacles toward Rain and began to fire multiple blasts of water from the suckers on them. They weren't as powerful as the first one, but their speed and number made them get closer and closer to Rain who sidestepped around to avoid them.
The monster began to advance toward Rain and he realized that he kept heading in the same directio which he came from… Rain wondered if the beast was being attracted to his relics or to his headquarters.
"This fucker can tell that my family is the most valuable treasure in the world… you have some good senses, but you will become fried up octopus thanks to your insolence of even thinking of targeting my family," Rain said.
Rain realized that to continue growing stronger, he needed to evolve his fighting style beyond brute force and relentless punching. As much as he enjoyed smashing his way through obstacles, he knew that his body had limits, and constantly battling colossal foes posed risks of serious injuries.
To mitigate these risks and further refine his martial abilities, he decided to focus on improving his technique and combat strategies.
Rain understood that a more efficient and precise fighting style would not only minimize the strain on his body but also enable him to take on a wider range of adversaries. By mastering advanced techniques, countering various enemy tactics, and enhancing his agility, he could become a more versatile and effective fighter.
With that in mind, he couldn't use new techniques against an adversary like that… he had to show trump cards in only dire situations, so he just turned his right forearm guard into an ice blade that emitted a chilling cold air and pointed his open left hand at the enemy.
The monster could tell that Rain was serious, but that fighting style felt weird in his stance… Still, that was all a plan to make the beast confused for a second. When the beast stopped moving, Rain used Impulse and charged in.
The monster created a water wall to block Rain's advance in the blink of an eye. Rain felt like he had smashed against a steel wall, thanks to his speed, and that slowed him down a bit. Just enough for the monster to open its mouth and fire that concentrated blast yet again.
Rain used Impulse to the side and avoided the attack, and he got closer to the beast again to slice up its tentacles, but the monster soon erected another giant wall of water… or rather, a cyclone by firing blasts of water in all directions.
The dragon's water cyclone destroyed the ground, causing the very earth to tremble beneath its relentless power. The cyclone was a terrifying force, spinning with such velocity that Rain couldn't fathom passing through it unscathed. Trying to halt a spell of such scale was an impossible feat, even for someone as powerful as Rain.
As he watched the destructive force of the water cyclone, Rain's mind raced to find a solution. He knew that brute strength alone wouldn't suffice against this opponent. The dragon's magic was on a scale he had rarely encountered before, and it posed a grave threat to him and his goals. The ground beneath him was rapidly eroding, and the cyclone threatened to engulf him entirely.
"I don't have time for this, this motherfucker probably doesn't have bones for me to use, after all," Rain thought and then pointed his left hand at the water cyclone that was approaching.
Rain froze some parts of the water cyclone and turned them into Frost Swords, and before long, he fired them at the beast. The groans of the monster spread across the area, and the water cyclone slowed down a bit, but the beast persisted. Rain persisted as well, and eventually, the water cyclone began to turn red thanks to the blood of the beast.
When the monster got tired of that, it suddenly made the water cyclone explode; vast blasts of water spread in all directions, and it hit Rain as well… he felt like he had been hit by a meteor and was left completely dizzy.
When he recovered from the shock, Rain saw several tentacles approaching and ready to smash him. Rain finally used Limit Breaker and Magic Boost to avoid the attack, and he succeeded. Before the monster could try anything else, Rain kept moving from one side to the other and eventually summoned some ice platforms in the air which he jumped to them.
Rain's movements were a blur of precision and speed as he jumped from one ice platform to the next. The icy constructs hung in the air, forming a makeshift pathway that allowed him to traverse the battlefield at a pace that was almost incomprehensible. The Kraken Dragon, with its vast size and power, could only track his shadow as he moved from one side to the other.
With his ice blade in hand, Rain moved with preternatural agility. In the blink of an eye, he slashed through the air and carved into several of the Kraken Dragon's massive tentacles… blood began to rain over the area.
