Chapter 872: Ancient dragons
Since Rain had some time to kill, he decided to test a bit what the shield said about what he could do with the domain… that was one way to experiment with the limitations of the system, as well.
Rain realized that creating books within his mental landscape to contain the knowledge he possessed required minimal effort. Using a moderate amount of mana enabled him to materialize a book, and with a slightly additional expenditure of mana, he could replicate or transcribe the specific knowledge he desired into these books.
The convenience and ease of this process within his mental space were obvious to Rain.
Despite the utility and convenience of this ability to store information in the form of books within his mental realm, Rain understood the limitations. Unfortunately, he couldn't bring these created books containing compiled knowledge back into the real world.
This restriction prevented Rain from utilizing this incredibly efficient method of preserving and organizing information in his physical existence outside the mental landscape.
"Still, this can come in handy since the system makes things work almost too efficiently, thanks to that, there are a lot of things that I don't know how it worked," Rain thought.
The system seemed to operate on a principle where practice was essential for perfection, yet it obscured the exact process of improvement. In Rain's case, he understood the steps needed to activate a skill like the Limit Breaker. However, the system's mechanics made it such that the costs associated with using this skill remained constant from level one to level one hundred.
The curious aspect was that while the cost to activate the skill remained consistent, the efficiency or effectiveness of the skill improved over time. Rain couldn't tell or articulate precisely how this enhancement occurred.
The system seemed to automatically refine the skill's efficiency through continued use and progression, despite users like Rain not being consciously aware of the changes happening within the skill.
When Rain read the book with the contents of the technique, he finally learned why. Limit Breaker was designed to push the body to its utmost physical limits. It achieved this by intensifying muscle strength and enhancing blood circulation, thus amplifying an individual's physical parameters for a temporary period.
However, the level of the Limit Breaker played a crucial role in how efficiently these enhancements were distributed throughout the body. At the skill's initial level, the effects of the Limit Breaker were primarily localized to specific limbs, allowing for a significant boost in strength and performance in those specific regions.
As the skill progressed and reached higher levels, it became more proficient and effective. At this level, the Limit Breaker attained the ability to enhance blood flow and muscle strength throughout the entire body.
Instead of merely affecting specific limbs, the heightened efficiency allowed the skill's effects to spread across the entire physique, resulting in a comprehensive and substantial enhancement of physical capabilities.
This evolution of the skill's efficiency from a localized effect to a holistic impact on the entire body was directly tied to the skill's level progression. With each advancement in the skill level, the skill's ability to optimize blood circulation and muscle strength expanded, ultimately benefitting the entire body's performance at its maximum level.
That was why the bonus increased with the levels, because the whole body could use it.
"I guess the level one hundred is the max because it is the true limit of one's physical body… anything besides that probably isn't safe," Rain thought. "Regardless… I don't think that this can help me get rid of the level cap of the skills."
Rain looked at the shield guy scratching his butt while relaxing on the floor… Rain kicked his back out of annoyance since he was doing that to annoy Rain as well. He wanted to kind of force Rain to ask about that trick, but Rain wasn't going to play in that kind of mind game.
"I am going to watch that city, don't bother me again… I am serious," Rain said.
"If you are going to help that guy, why don't you ask about how to break the level cap?"
"Because I don't trust you, now shut the fuck up," Rain said.
Rain returned to the real world and then sighed… the sun was already setting there, and even though half an hour had passed, he wasn't discovered by any dragon and the mana around was still the same, so no dragon showed up as well.
"I guess this is feasible… as long as I am fast enough," Rain thought. "Still, I need to check the surroundings of this place to find all the possible enemies."
Rain scouted the dragon Golems and confirmed their locations within the city. He utilized his Impulse, granting him the advantage of speed and reconnaissance.
As he maneuvered around the city's landscape, Rain meticulously marked the positions of the dragon Golems. His observations revealed that a total of twenty Golems were stationed as guardians around the central tower.
This count, while not exceedingly high, still presented a formidable obstacle, especially considering their enhanced strength compared to the previous Golems he had encountered during the war.
Despite having engaged and killed several of these Golems in past battles, Rain discerned a noticeable disparity in the strength and aura emanating from these new sentinels. Their thick aura suggested a considerable difference in power compared to the others.
This distinction in strength signaled a challenging obstacle for Rain, emphasizing the need for a strategic approach and careful planning to confront these formidable adversaries.
"Their aura is like three times denser… they should be around five thousand years old," Rain thought. "This might be difficult."
In the sea dragons' territory, Rain didn't find anyone guarding the relics since it was located in the middle of their base, but things are different in the ancient city. Rain imagined that only the oldest and most powerful warriors would be chosen to protect that place and those twenty dragon golems were those.
