Chapter 124: The Banquet

The banquet day finally came.

It was going to happen in the biggest lounge in Cloudbridge City. Jayden had purposely fixed the venue in Cloudbridge because he wanted Gregory to feel like this was his day.

And now, that plan was successful.

He was sure of that.

He had to arrive differently from the members of The Core, as he would be showing up as Jayden Cole, leaving the people in awe when he finally revealed his identity.

The plan was clear...

Jayden had to dress in a typical simple suit and arrive earlier than the ladies.

He knew that no one would believe that he's The Dominus if the ladies didn't say it, but that was how he had planned it.

He would see how much people would doubt and then deliver the greatest comeback they had ever seen.

Different cars and convoys were arriving at the Diamond City Centre, the current biggest lounge in the city.

There were several large halls for events and banquets like this one, so it was surely the most suitable place that could be.

The people began arriving...

Gregory Kingsley and his son.

Silas, Kurtis, and Luka Vane. They turned out to be invited but with the Silver Invitation Card, which meant that they were silver guests, and the Kingsleys had more honor today than them.

It was the President, so they didn't care. They knew they had to be there.

Gregory spotted them and was totally angered, but the fact that they were in the silver class gave him more reasons to boast and be proud, as he even mocked them.

All governors of the states in Nortasia were present at the occasion, as they would wait for the President to decide their fate.

More influential people like the state commissioners and popular business tycoons also showed up at the banquet.

And that's where the attendance of Heston Frost was clear.

The man who sent his daughter away because she wasn't going with his urges.

After hearing about the resignation of King Arthur, he was completely drained, knowing that the Megacity Project would no longer hold.

Heston felt so bad for disowning his daughter, and he hadn't seen her for months. He already asked some men to go after her and bring her home, but they hadn't managed to find her anywhere.

All he believed was that she was with Jayden Cole, and when he heard about his death, he thought she would have no choice but to return home in no time.

He entered the banquet and began a thorough scrutiny, hopeful he might find one of her friends who must have arrived with their father for the banquet, but unfortunately, no one was able to pinpoint where Camilia could be.

Thus, he had to relax, but his mind was troubled because he really wanted to see his daughter again.

He regretted his approach to her and wished he had allowed her to go with her mind.

Now things were already coming back to hit him.

They were all waiting for The Dominus to arrive. He was the main man of the day, and the banquet wouldn't hold until he showed up.

Everyone was impatiently waiting, as some tried to receive information about their arrival.

Just then, a simple black sedan drove into the scene... It was unexpected to see sedans in this kind of occasion, but sure, they patiently waited to see who it was.

The moment he walked out...

They all saw a ghost.

Almost everyone panicked.

"Jayden Cole? Wasn't he dead?"

"Jesus Christ! That's a ghost right there."

"We have to call the cops... The banquet is being attacked by a ghost!"

They were all shouting as Jayden decided to speak up.

"I am not a ghost!"

They all paused, all eyes on him.

He clapped both hands, touched a car, and even asked one of the security men to touch him so they could all believe he wasn't dead.

"I was never dead. I survived after jumping into the lagoon. Bad for King Arthur, he couldn't kill me," Jayden said as he made a few steps forward.

"Whatever, little boy! You and I know that you shouldn't be here. You are not invited," Gregory Kingsley said, his eyes dark.

"Well, who said that?" Jayden asked as he dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out his Invitation Card.

"Here's my invitation. I have the right to be here, just like every one of you," Jayden said.

"Well, that's a Bronze Invitation Card. You are among the list of the low-levels here," Royce bumped in, his face stern as always when he saw his greatest enemy.

"That doesn't matter, does it? We are all here for the banquet, so let's get on with it," Jayden said as he walked in.

The rest of the people inside were stunned as they noticed, including Camilia's father.

They all panicked as he walked in but were soon calmed after Jayden told them he wasn't dead, and they confirmed it.

Heston quickly approached him, as it was a clear opportunity to ask about his daughter.

"My daughter? Is she okay? Where is she?" he asked with a worried look on his face.

"Your daughter? I thought you disowned her and sent her away?" Jayden asked as he chuckled.

Heston shook his head. "Look, Jayden. I know I was wrong. I didn't act like a good father to her, but she has to forgive me and come back home. I'll support any decisions she makes. I promise."

Jayden gave him a short look and nodded. Actually, he wasn't in the right place to have a prolonged conversation with him, so he just went straight to the point.

"She's doing great. She will be here," he said.

"She will be here? Why didn't she come with you then? Are you two no longer together? Did you break up with her?" Heston began asking.

"No, Mister Heston. She will be here in a moment, I promise," he said before moving away.

Heston had to cling to that as he nodded and went back to the Silver Invitation section.

When Jayden was calmly sitting at the side, Royce approached him.

They surely had unfinished business after what happened on campus.

Royce was visibly angered by that, as it had cost him his degree. At this point, the only thing he could do was to confront Jayden and threaten him about dealing with him when The Dominus made his father Vice President of Nortasia.

"I guess you were happy about what happened, huh? But guess what, buddy, you might not leave here alive today," Royce said.

"Why won't I?" Jayden asked casually as he furrowed his brows.

"When my father becomes Vice President, I'll make sure you pay for what you have done!" Royce barked.

The people around couldn't help but watch and gasp at every heavy statement that came out of their mouths, and somehow, it was entertaining them as they waited for The Dominus and The Core to arrive.

"And who says your father would ever be Vice President?" Jayden asked, his tone soft yet hitting harder than the roars that Royce delivered.

"The Dominus is showing up today, and he is going to appoint my father as Vice President of Nortasia. Get that into your skull," Royce said.

"Well, I would never do that," Jayden replied.

"What... What do you mean?" Royce asked angrily.

"I won't appoint your stupid father as Vice President of Nortasia," Jayden added.

Royce couldn't help but laugh at that point, as most of the others began to laugh out loud as well.

It was expected. No one would expect Jayden to be The Dominus. No one would believe it, but that was when the fun started.

Jayden was enjoying every moment.

"As if you are The Dominus. You are just a mere rat in Cloudbridge City who thinks he would rise to the top. Making my father Vice President is no one's decision to make. It's The Dominus. He already informed us even before Independence Day," Royce said.

Jayden nodded and scoffed, staring right into Royce's eyes.

"I am The Dominus."

Everyone gasped, and a wild session of murmuring enveloped the hall.

Royce laughed again, this time even harder.

"How dare you impersonate the President of the Democratic Republic of Nortasia? You must have a death wish, boy," one of the men standing around said.

Jayden chuckled. "Well, what if I ain't?"

That question left a buzz, as murmurs rose again. Almost everyone began staring at Jayden harshly.

"Enough of this madness. I figured you have a screw loose after surviving the lagoon. Now get the hell out of here," Gregory said as he stared at the security men inside, giving them a go-ahead.

Almost everyone supported that act, but Jayden didn't blame them too much because he understood their uncertainty.

One couldn't just claim to be someone so influential just like that. It was hard to believe, and it was understandable.

Jayden didn't even make trouble when the men approached him and forced him out.

They held both his hands and led him out, with Jayden just smiling as he shuffled out.

Just then, when he was already wondering why the ladies were taking forever to arrive, they showed up.

Lady Frostline walked into the hall quickly with a serious look on her face.

"What is going on here?!"
