Chapter 135: Dale's Sudden Death
Just again, Royce watched the world crumbling before his eyes. This time it even looked more intense than the first, and Royce was terrified from the very first minute.
Dale was there again, and this time, there were also other people, seemingly the people of Nexus, urging him to come with them.
"Royce! Come on. Let's destroy Earth together!"
Again, Dale shouted as he gave Royce a hand.
Royce gulped repeatedly, his hands and legs shaking uncontrollably.
He was terrified yet again, but this time, he knew what he was likely to face if he failed this test.
Although what he was seeing was far more terrifying than the first—one that would make him hesitate before making any choice...
Royce saw buildings crumbling, people being slaughtered and shot. It was more like a catastrophe, as the enemies—Dale among them—had no remorse in every act of destruction.
He couldn't help but see it that way... that these people were destroying his world for reasons he didn't actually know.
For a moment, he wanted to ask why, but he soon discovered he couldn't.
He was in a test...
A test to join them.
A test to be part of the destruction, and he clearly had no choice.
The only choices he had were to pass the test or lose another important organ of his body.
Royce didn't know if he would lose his eyes this time, or even his limbs.
He was so scared that he fell to his knees and began to scream.
"No!!!"
"Come on, Royce. You don't want to fail this test," Dale told him, shaking his head with a warning tone.
Royce completely understood what he meant, and truly, he didn't want to fail this test after all.
Royce stood back up and took a step forward.
"All you have to do is hold my hand and let's move on!" Dale added.
Royce hesitantly nodded and walked forward, his eyes scrutinizing the area, noticing the reassuring glances from the rest of the attackers around.
It was clear that they all wanted him to pass the test, even though they were just projections in this illusory space.
He knew they weren't the real figures of their identity, and had been planted there to make the test progress.
For the first time, it seemed like Royce had completely made up his mind and was already coming with them.
But then...
Everything flashed in front of Dale's eyes when Royce halted and moved back.
The reason? He suddenly spotted a large number of the Nexus army taking over Earth's land.
It was just like a time-traveling projection that slightly showed him what the people of Nexus wanted... or literally what their so-called Grandmaster wanted.
To take over Earth...
The moment he noticed that, he rushed back and forced himself to wake up.
This had gone beyond his disregard for Earth after they had been cruel to him. He saw his home... his kind. His world, crumbling and being taken away from the people he had just met.
It would take the greatest villain on Earth a lot before he would even agree to pass this test as well, and Royce knew he wasn't a fool for doing this.
{Test failed}
{Delivering penalty...}
"Stop!"
At that moment, just when the penalty was almost delivered, the voice of a middle-aged man sounded from the near distance.
The young lady anchoring the test quickly deactivated the system, which resulted in Royce escaping the punishment.
Dale and the lady noticed who it was and turned.
"Grandmaster," Dale bowed.
"Grandmaster," she bowed too.
Royce was just there, staring at the man with gray beards and a very stern look on his face. Dressed in a long modern robe, one would feel that strict aura in him, and Royce was just sensitive enough.
"We are injecting the serum," the Grandmaster said with a very serious tone as he approached the ward bed.
"Grandmaster, I—"
"You've had your time! We can't wait anymore. He has to be prepared before the Shield opens. There's no time to waste," the Grandmaster interrupted.
"I... can talk to him, Grandmaster. Just one more chance and he will pass. Please. The serum... it's... it's not going to be the best thing for the Chosen One," Dale pleaded.
"You are questioning my orders?!"
The Grandmaster's face turned red at that point as he glared at Dale.
"No, Grandmaster... I... I was just—"
"Rule 12 of the Law Book. Never question the orders of the Grandmaster."
Snap!
With a loud snap of the Grandmaster's fingers, just suddenly, Dale's head exploded on the spot, his lifeless body falling to the screeny ground right after.
Royce's eyes dilated in shock, his mouth agape.
The lady stood there without even flinching, her eyes remaining calm.
Right before Royce's eyes, Dale, the man who had helped him when he was starving on Earth, was killed.
It felt like he was in a dream... perhaps he felt like he was in another illusory world, but in reality, what was happening here was completely true.
Dale was dead...
And the man who had just killed him... was the Grandmaster.
Just because he had objected to his orders to inject a serum into him?
Royce appeared even more terrified at that point.
But now, he had to ask himself... what is the serum?
"Now do it!" the Grandmaster ordered the lady, and she quickly nodded.
She grabbed a syringe—one that looked very much like a mechanical syringe. Then she grabbed a bottle with glowing liquids inside...
Glowing blue liquids with a cold appearance.
No matter what it might be, Royce believed that it wasn't something good for him.
Surely that was why Dale had questioned the Grandmaster after he attempted to inject him with it.
Royce feared for his life.
"Wait wait wait! Please. Don't! I don't want to die," Royce cried as she walked close.
He was strapped to the bed and couldn't free himself, so there was actually nothing he could do to stop her.
"Don't worry, boy. No one said anything about getting you killed. I understand your refusal to complete the test... so... so I have decided to make it easier for you," the Grandmaster said with quite an intimidating tone.
"No, please. I don't want to be part of you anymore. I want to go back to my world!" Royce cried.
The Grandmaster chuckled softly and shook his head.
"Well, that's not happening, boy. You are the Chosen One, and you will serve your fate," the Grandmaster said.
He then nodded to the lady, who brought the syringe forward.
"No no no no no! No!!! Please!!!"
"Don't panic, boy. Very soon you will be calm... and you will be well among us," the Grandmaster added.
Then, the lady injected slowly, as Royce slowly lost consciousness, dozing off.
"Soon, he will be more than just one of us. Soon, he will be the leader of the Sovereign Protocols."
With that, the Grandmaster walked out of the room.

Jayden arrived at the Zintech headquarters...
He hadn't been there for two months either, although he had always called.
When he entered the building, he wasn't welcomed just as the Chairman, but as the President of Nortasia.
Sabrina quickly rushed out eagerly the moment she noticed his arrival. It seemed more like she had been patiently waiting for him, and had made sure nothing distracted her from showing up immediately when he arrived.
That was what it seemed like, as she didn't even know when she hugged him.
Everyone had their eyes widened in amazement, seeing how confident she was while hugging him. What made it more interesting was the fact that Jayden took it upon himself to embrace the hug.
She, somehow, had earned it.
After standing strong all through the hard times when he was away... Zintech never even felt the owner's death, remaining bold in the rankings.
She was indeed someone to put full trust in.
When Sabrina finally realized she had done too much, she tried apologizing.
"Uhm, I'm sorry... I was—"
"It's okay," Jayden cut in.
She nodded and bowed slightly. She had to remember he was President.
No one had ever experienced meeting a President in the country before, and they really respected the title—even many times more than someone with the usual "King" title.
"I have to thank you for your hard work and diligence. You have always been committed to the job, and trust me, we are all lucky to have you here," Jayden gestured to everyone around.
Truly, they all nodded in agreement with what he had just said.
Sabrina was pretty shy, but she was sharp-eyed.
"That's why we will be honoring you today, and in addition, you will be getting a promotion," Jayden added.
Sabrina flinched, her eyes glinting in excitement even though she couldn't find the words.
"Today, we will honor Grand Ambassador Sabrina, as we add Zintech Automobile and Communications to EC Consortium."
Jayden then turned to Sabrina.
"Grand Ambassador Sabrina, you will be the Vice President of EC Consortium."
