Chapter 147: 147. Bigger danger (1)
Two days passed peacefully. Theo trained with Rhys until he couldn't anymore and then did some footwork training of his own before he went to his room to either study or help the mantis recover.
The mantis's recovery was a lot better now, the bent-up foreleg was better now—it wasn't as bent as it was before.
From his understanding, not only did the medicinal bath help progress the recovery faster, but the moss that grew back quickly and gobbled instantly was a big reason too.
The past two days had led Theo to take some mild medicinal baths of his own, mostly the ones that progressed muscle relief quicker.
Rhys was the one who first made the medicinal bath for him. According to him, he used to take it several times a day when his journey started, which led to the medicinal bath's effects lowering a lot for him.
So, Theo decided to take them in discretion.
Theo went to Clara almost every day to see her progress. The big bruise didn't change color, but according to the doctors, she had healed a lot internally.
All this time, the boar and pup stayed beside her bed without making any ruckus. Whenever the pup tried something, the boar rebuked it in its own way, which helped keep the pup beside them a lot longer than Theo had assumed.
Giving them food became a daily routine, yet one day in between, Clara's family came to visit to check on her condition. Yet Theo only got to know about it when they left—the opportunity to meet them was gone now.
Another day passed with the same routine. Theo was now a lot more stable when it came to using a sword. He was accustomed to holding it tight and fighting for prolonged times.
The mantis was going to be healed any time soon, according to Theo's prediction after looking at its body. He could not feel the mantis in any pain—there was only the bent-up foreleg, which fortunately fixed itself by going back to its rightful place again.
Now felt like the right time to go and defeat a beast 3 levels above the mantis.
_______________
"Young master… why do you need to defeat a level 7 beast when yours is just level 4…" Elias asked with a perplexed expression.
They were in a carriage going toward the boar's territory—only about five minutes of the way was left now.
"What do you mean why? I need practice, Elias. Try to keep up." Theo said with a fake 'hmph!', he did not want to explain to him just yet when he didn't trust him fully.
Elias wanted to speak, yet for a while, not a word came out of his mouth.
"…It will be difficult finding a level 7 beast in the outskirts, young master. It's good that we have Chit with us," Elias spoke with a sigh.
"Chit?" Theo asked. He still hadn't seen his beast, but seeing as his mother was the one that sent Elias, he was sure that he was strong enough.
"Yes, that's my beast's nickname. I will take it out right now," Elias spoke and closed his eyes. Theo's eyes widened—this was not the place to take the beast out.
Yet it was too late. A bright light came out of the forehead directly outside the window. Theo looked outside and found nothing. Whatever it was had been left behind.
SWOOSH
Soon, Theo saw a silhouette sliding at the same speed as the carriage—and Theo knew the carriage was fast. He had told Warren about it.
"This is Chit. Say hello to young master," Elias spoke while looking out.
There was a big colorful bird outside with feathers bright red and blue. It was very beautiful, and when it chirped with its melodious voice, Theo felt like he was hearing soothing music.
"What beast is that? Where does it originate from?" Theo asked with curiosity.
"It's the Whisperplume Jay It's mostly in the east region of our empire. I am originally from there, young master," Elias spoke with a smile, surprising Theo.

He looked at the bird that was moving with so much precision that it felt like it was not flying at all, just gliding with the air just beside the carriage.
"Tell me more about it," Theo asked in curiosity. They had finally found a topic that both could talk about without any problem.
Till now, Theo was still not confident enough to tell him anything about him that was not public right now. Even him taming an insect was something he still was not comfortable telling people.
The mantis was going to grow soon enough, and only then would the world start seeing its worth.
The travel felt leisurely again, and when they reached the forest's outskirts again, Theo and Elias jumped out of the carriage and saw Warren already asleep with his straw cap on his head.
Theo just shook his head with a chuckle, and Elias wrote something down on a paper before placing everything back in the pouch around his waist.
"I will send Chit right away to look for the first beast around. Would you like to practice first, young master?" Elias asked while he kept a hand on the side of his forehead.
Theo knew what it was—when a beast needed a big mental command, this was a trick to often concentrate efficiently.
The first flew up without any sound. Theo couldn't realize there was something in the air if it was not gliding in the air in front of him.
Elias quickly closed his eyes again before another light came out of his forehead.
When the beast materialized, Theo was almost disappointed.
"Hahah, did you think I would have another non-native beast again, young master? Unfortunately not," Elias spoke with an awkward chuckle.
