Chapter 12 People Who Do Great Things
The arrival hall at Miami International Airport was bustling with people, noisy and crowded.
Marco, arriving from across the ocean, pushed his suitcase and with two assistants, passed through the crowded throng, his gaze quickly scanning the greeting signs.
As a winter vacation destination, Miami maintains a warm and humid climate year-round, filled with a fiery yet relaxed atmosphere.
Tourists from all over the world gather here to enjoy the sunshine, waves, beaches, and endless tropical flair.
But Marco was not here for tourism. His gaze fixed on a conspicuous sign—his name was written on it in neat Chinese characters.
Under the sign stood a Black man, dressed in a sharp suit, with a solemn expression.
Marco walked over quickly, extended his hand with a smile, and said fluently in English, "Hello, I am MAX from 'Electric Flight'."
The Black man looked down at the photo on his phone, then carefully scrutinized Marco for a few moments, nodding briefly, he said curtly, "Get in the car, the boss is waiting for you."
A luxury Cadillac was parked by the roadside, with sleek lines and a shiny, mirror-like finish, exuding a sense of understated luxury.
Marco was no stranger to luxury cars, but as he walked to the back to put his suitcase in the trunk, he found the trunk lid unusually heavy. He struggled to lift it open.
When he opened the rear door, he was even more surprised—it was a bulletproof car.
The doors were heavy, and the windows were several centimeters thick, resistant to assault rifle fire, evidently designed to withstand extreme security threats.
Sitting inside, apart from the soft and comfortable seats, Marco was astonished to see the dashboard imprinted with the 'Eagle Badge'.
Upon closer inspection, yes, it was indeed the 'Eagle Badge' of the United States Department of State.
"Hiss..." Marco took a deep breath, "Could this thing be fake?"
He sneakily took out his phone, sent a message to his family about his arrival, and then snapped a photo to send to his company group chat, "Guys, check this out. What is this?"
'Electric Flight' is a small company, with just a few dozen employees, mostly technical personnel. A group of homebodies looked at the photo Marco sent back and all gasped in unison.
"You guys wouldn't believe it, the car picking me up is a bulletproof Cadillac, and it's really impressive. The key thing is, it seems like a car used by a high-ranking government official, and at a very high level at that."
Marco's anticipation and confidence in meeting the CEO of "Holy Light" increased, "This CEO is not simple, could he have connections in the United States government?"
He couldn't contain his curiosity and asked the Black driver.
The Black man glanced at the rearview mirror and said nonchalantly, "This is a decommissioned government vehicle from Washington. They removed the external markings, but the internal ones were not thoroughly cleaned."
Marco's curiosity grew, "How much would it cost to buy a car like this?"
The Black man chuckled, "This car is not for sale, but the boss got it for free, it was gifted to him."
Free! That means connections.
A week ago, 'Electric Flight' received an inquiry email from Miami, expressing strong interest in the company's low-altitude aircraft products.
The email mentioned that 'Holy Light' wished to order one hundred aircraft and hoped that 'Electric Flight' would immediately send someone to negotiate.
'Low Altitude Economy' has been included in several provincial government work reports domestically in recent years. Though the industry's prospects remain uncertain, both the United States and China are actively planning for it.
In some aspects, the United States is even ahead.
The United States has a vast civil general aviation market, and has extensive experience in airspace management, policy planning, and industrial financing.
In contrast, China, though strong in manufacturing, is still exploring market development and policy support.
As a vice president of 'Electric Flight', Marco had many doubts about this trip to Miami.
The reason was simple, 'Holy Light' was a newly established company, yet it immediately intended to order one hundred aircraft, which seemed somewhat unrealistic. Fin%d* th*i#s* c!hapte#r@'%s sour^ce on M&V-!LE@M-P*Y@R..
He repeatedly verified the company's background, ruling out the possibility that it was an Indian company or a scam from Northern Myanmar, and finally decided to come in person for the negotiation.
The car slowly drove out of the airport, and Miami's sunshine streamed through the bulletproof windows, warm and bright.
"Hope it goes well this time," Marco thought, gazing at the bustling streets and towering buildings outside the window, his mind filled with thoughts.
This negotiation was not only about the future of 'Electric Flight', but also possibly opening a new door for the low-altitude economy in China.
The reason was simple, the domestic general aviation market was almost zero, but the United States market was huge. Who wouldn't be tempted?
The car entered a wide, tree-lined avenue and eventually stopped in front of a modern apartment building. The Black driver opened the door softly, "Mr. Max, the boss is waiting for you at the top floor."
-----------------
Zhou Qingfeng's duplex apartment was located in downtown Miami, with wide views from the top floor, overlooking the bustling cityscape through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
He had converted one of the spacious rooms into an office, with minimalistic decor and a modern style.
Several high-configuration computers were placed on the desk, and a few design sketches of low-altitude aircraft hung on the walls. There were also some unopened equipment boxes and document cases piled in the corner.
It looked decent, showcasing the characteristics of a startup company.
Jennifer sat across the desk, no longer the school doctor in a white coat, now dressed in a well-tailored business suit, her long blonde hair casually draped over her shoulders, looking capable and elegant.
