Invasion of the United States

Chapter 17 Doing Business

At the dock of the San Diego Military Port, diesel engines emitted a distressing low-frequency tremor.

As ten M1070 heavy transport vehicles rolled over the steel gangplank, the sound of metal fatigue echoed through the ship's hold.

Monica Lanqi sat in an administrative car at the dock, her gaze locked on the heavy trucks slowly entering the hold of the "Watson".

She took out an encrypted phone and dialed a number. A low voice answered on the other end: "This is Dias. What's the situation?"

"The cargo has boarded successfully. The Navy has taken over; the fleet is expected to set sail in two hours."

Monica reported concisely, "The fleet will travel at high speed, expected to arrive in Southeast Asia in twenty days."

"Very well. I'll arrange for close monitoring," Dias responded. "Be extra careful, there are signs that the 'DOGE' from the Ministry of Efficiency is targeting us."

The Ministry of Government Efficiency, abbreviated as 'DOGE', whose emblem is a 'dog', is an unofficial federal agency established by the current president through an executive order.

Although nominally 'unofficial', it is closest to the center of power, now resembling the 'Eastern Depot', wielding authority and conducting investigations across the U.S., causing chaos nationwide.

Different from the 'Tree of Justice', which is composed of senior bureaucrats, the Ministry of Efficiency represents the forces of emerging capital. While both are dissatisfied with the current state of the United States, they are mutually antagonistic.

"Although these 'dogs' have no law enforcement power, their technical means even surpass those of the Department of Homeland Security; they have also recruited a group of young people to serve them."

Dias continued, "You are in charge of fundraising for the organization, and that makes you a key surveillance target. They are likely to try to infiltrate our ranks and uncover our secrets."

"I understand, I'll be extra cautious," Monica replied.

Dias gave a final caution: "Remember, maintain a good relationship with Victor. I know you don't like that 'yellow-skinned monkey.'

I don't like that punk either. But now is not the time to eliminate him; maintain a facade of harmony."

Monica responded repeatedly, then hung up the phone. She waited until the entire fleet had left the port and confirmed there were no issues before leaving the dock.

-----------------

As Monica left the dock, in a nearby house outside the port, agents from the Ministry of Efficiency were intently staring at the numbers on the digital map, tracking the movement of her vehicle.

As Dias mentioned, although the Ministry of Efficiency has been mediocre in other areas, the high-tech means supported by the new capital behind it are considered world-class.

From Lula transporting the heavy trucks to the military port, to Monica supervising on-site, and then to the fleet setting sail, all the action details have not escaped the Ministry of Efficiency's rigorous surveillance.

However, despite holding vast amounts of information, the agents have not yet received any action orders from their superiors. The entire team was enveloped in a sense of powerless silence, each person feeling immense disappointment.

"Captain, are we just going to do nothing?" A female agent couldn't help but ask Captain Thomas, who was in charge of the operation.

Captain Thomas, a tall and stout African American with a determined look, responded steadily: "Who said we are doing nothing? We have collected a lot of evidence.

But remember, we have no law enforcement power. Our task is to ensure we don't make any mistakes, not to act rashly.

If exposed without thoroughly eliminating our opponents, we will face a fierce backlash. Patience is the key to success."

The atmosphere in the house returned to silence. Every agent involved in surveillance and investigation felt a strong sense of patriotism, but at this moment, their mood was exceptionally heavy. ThiscontentishostedatM|V|LE^MPYR.

After Lieutenant Lula voluntarily defected, the investigation of Zhou Qingfeng by the Ministry of Efficiency became unusually smooth. They started from the source, locking onto the smuggling activities.

Considering Zhou Qingfeng's status and his pursuit of huge profits, the Ministry of Efficiency quickly focused on semiconductor products.

Zhou Qingfeng's intention of smuggling AI chips was obvious, and his opponents saw it clearly as well.

All of Nvidia's B200 chips came from TSMC. By tracking the source and logistics, the Ministry of Efficiency soon discovered that someone had purchased a hundred NVL72 cabinets in the name of the Department of Homeland Security.

This transaction, worth three hundred million US Dollars, had a clear money trail, difficult to cover up.

However, when the heavy trucks carrying these cabinets arrived at the San Diego military port, the agents of the Ministry of Efficiency were left helpless.

After receiving a call, Captain Thomas turned to reassure the team: "Our superiors believe we do not yet have enough conclusive evidence, especially regarding the identity of the mastermind behind the scenes.

Furthermore, to ensure Lieutenant Lula's safety, we have decided to delay action."

This explanation slightly alleviated the team's internal tension. To boost morale, Captain Thomas revealed some good news:

"Don't worry, though we can't catch those pests this time, those cabinets won't reach their destination. That three hundred million US Dollars will ultimately be lost at sea."

The agents perked up upon hearing this. Although they couldn't know the details, everyone was filled with anticipation about the 'loss of three hundred million US Dollars.'

-----------------

At this moment, Zhou Qingfeng was still in the dark about certain things. He hadn't yet secured a buyer but had already splurged three hundred million US Dollars on a hundred cabinets.

The transaction process was not transparent; for such a large deal, he didn't even have the right to inspect the goods—of course, he didn't have the ability to inspect them either.

However, there was good news coming from another aspect of the situation.
