Invasion of the United States

Chapter 18: Favor_2

He paused for a moment, then laughed and said, "But it doesn't matter, the Chris Clan is dead, you've avenged them, and that's enough.

For this, we who once fell into despair... are very grateful."

The old mechanic's voice gradually became low, finally turning into a murmur. Then, he slowly knelt down, lowered his head, and kissed the ground under Zhou Qingfeng's feet, his movements devout and solemn.

"May the Holy Mother Mary bless you. If needed, my family and I are willing to do anything for you."

This voice echoed in the empty hangar, as if carrying some kind of sacred power, or rather a one-sidedly set contract.

Old Juan took his grandson to work without making any more requests.

When Zhou Qingfeng walked out of the hangar, he felt spiritually elevated, thinking he was incredibly awesome, even floating as he walked.

Since interacting with the South American laborers around the farm, he keenly realized that the needs and feedback of these potential customers were crucial for the improvement of the aircraft.

These laborers may not have high educational backgrounds, but they have strong practical skills.

Especially some Mexican laborers, who are honest and hardworking. Give them a chance, and they are truly willing to seize it and hold on tight.

Many of them are in their thirties and forties and still have a strong drive to learn. As for the older ones, they have some unique skills, being able to make practical devices with simple tools and materials.

Whenever an aircraft took off, they would stand aside, staring at the sky attentively, their eyes filled with expectation and longing, showing great interest in the aircraft.

Zhou Qingfeng specifically hired farm workers as ground crew, even allowing them to participate in test flights.

This not only reduced the workload of his own testing team but also provided valuable feedback for the improvement of the aircraft.

To encourage these laborers to actively participate, Zhou Qingfeng also made a promise: once the test work on the farm's five aircrafts was completed, they could be given freely to the best-performing laborers.

Under the necessary reward and punishment mechanism, he hoped they would fully cooperate during the testing period.

"Victor, it seems you've finally done something right," Jeff Connally's voice came from behind Zhou Qingfeng, with a teasing tone.

He stood beside the testing farm's tarmac, his gaze falling on the verification aircraft being dragged onto the open ground—a rare scene of 'Dongda' employees and Mexican laborers working together.

"This aircraft is really ugly. Who did you get to design its appearance?" He circled the verification aircraft, commenting on its sharply edged fuselage.

"Do you know how Miami's recent news is describing 'Electric Flight'? — An ugly 'Dongda' aircraft trying to enter the United States market."

Ahahaha... Jeff Connally found it very amusing, shaking his head and laughing continuously.

"It's hard to impress investors with this kind of product appearance, and even harder to tell a convincing story. Clearly an advanced transportation tool that could impact the future economy, yet it looks like a tractor."

'The low-altitude economy' is in full swing, and there are quite a few startups working on it in Florida. 'Electric Flight' is not unique.

But when it comes to aircraft appearance, the 'Electric Flight' verification aircraft is too distinctive—ugly, like a poor product from a township enterprise."

"None of your business, I ordered it to be made like this. I don't need investors, a simple appearance means low cost."

Even though his two daughters were with him, Zhou Qingfeng didn't hesitate to snap back at his 'prospective father-in-law.'"

Jeff was wearing a dark gray tailored suit, his tie hanging loosely around his neck, holding a thick document in his hand.

"I read Kelly's report," Jeff waved the document in his hand, there was a touch of emotion in his tone.

"She praised 'Dongda's' manufacturing industry highly, spending dozens of pages describing those small factories.

She said some small factories look ordinary, even somewhat messy, but what they produce is astonishingly precise and of high quality, with unbelievably low costs."

He walked up to Zhou Qingfeng, standing shoulder to shoulder, his gaze following the aircraft slowly taking off vertically.

The roar of the rotor blades echoed in the air, generating a breeze that disheveled a few strands of Jeff's silver hair on his forehead.

"Kelly said that while calculating the product costs, she often doubted if she had missed a zero. Labor, materials, logistics, all were low."

Jeff shook his head and sighed, "Products that we think would cost at least millions of US Dollars, actually have unbelievably low production costs."

Zhou Qingfeng did not respond, he just quietly watched the aircraft ascend. However, Jeff seemed to have opened up a box of chatter and continued:

"Your country's advancements in electrification are destroying the automotive industry in Europe and America. Now, you're going after the flying car industry. What are we supposed to do?"

Zhou Qingfeng responded with a mocking smile, "If you had ever experienced the era of trading billions of shirts for one Boeing airliner, you wouldn't be feeling this distress."

Jeff seemed to not fully understand the meaning behind this sentence, but he did not delve into it. His attention went back to the aircraft circling in the air.

Today's test mission was to simulate the avoidance during the takeoff and landing of multiple aircraft.

The testing team had set up a simple simulated air traffic control system on the ground, with five aircraft taking off in sequence, alternating landing, the scene orderly.

Jeff watched intently, occasionally taking out his phone to calculate flight times, and even running to the edge of the testing field to carefully observe the energy consumption and charging speed of each takeoff and landing.
