Invincible: The Emperor

Chapter 4: Roanoke Disappears

*Universal Date: 2nd Millennium*

The moment I was born, I surrounded my body with psychic energy manipulating it on the cellular level something I didn't want to rely on. I knew however that this era lacked the technology to hyper-age me to twenty-five and manipulate my genome. Something I knew my psychic abilities could do without a hitch but it's something The Warp as I've taken to calling can do as well.

They would use the energy I generated or the emotions/surprise of seeing a newborn baby grow into a 10-foot-tall adult man to tear a hole. Mostly confusion than anger at the perceived witchcraft or devil's work or whatever they called it. My mother was mostly terror probably both from eh sight and thinking her son was a demon or devil in disguise.

"A demon, inform the town there is a demon in our midst, find the priest, and prepare to purify this house."

"Oh Lord please protect us from this foul devil.

Gift us the strength to resist their temptations and illusions."

"Begon foul beast, leave this house blessed by Christ holy priest."

A flurry of such things sprang out from close family members, the local doctor, or at least the person closest to it. None of it mattered though as I began reshaping a few pieces of matter to become my own set of pilgrim clothes completed with a bellbuckled hat. I then held my hands out as the Warp tore through our reality causing a great storm to appear over the Roanoke colony.

It simply started off as dark clouds with red lighting struck down on the colony, engulfing the village. This caused panic among them further feeding the warp tear, as a few of the villagers prayed for salvation as their souls and bodies were dragged from this world into the immaterial, presumably to disappear into the Warp.

A few of the people tried to tab me but my durable skin stopped them dead in their tracks, normally I would've tossed them aside but I was a bit too busy closing the Warp tear. Didn't matter though they were tossed aside soon enough and sucked into the Warp screaming their eyes out on the way.

The buildings were easily destroyed as beasts of smoke and lighting formed from the clouds creating monstrous dogs of war, and bears of slaughter. They ate any villager they could find whilst avoiding me like the plague which was to be expected because if I could I would tear them from this reality.

Right now though I was busy closing the rift, separating them from their power source and weakening them. They would still be strong enough to wipe this colony from history alongside the villagers. Course people would speak of this place and its mysterious disappearance wanting to understand how this happened. Meaning that as I closed this rift finally it would be a good idea to plant some evidence or ideas in people's heads.

It would be easy enough to do and there were some minerals and things of value in the area I wanted to get my hands on first. I needed to create equipment to build my own lab and create the proper equipment so that I didn't need to rely on my psychic abilities as much in the future. It would only feed into the Warp and make me a walking target for the more monstrous beings that would awaken in the future.

Well, it would do so right now as well as I forcibly closed the tear in reality separating the storm from the source of their power, whilst sucking in the ruined buildings whole.

Soon enough these beasts would disappear as they fed on the souls and bodies of the villagers. Once they were all gone, they saw me all alone and in desperate hunger saw me as a bright light bulb of a meal. The first to charge me was a wolf made of smoke and red lighting, it roared out trying to sink whatever consisted of a mouth into me, but I quickly grabbed them and tore them apart sending them back to their realm.

I then charged forward grabbing one of the now panicking daemons by the tail and began swinging them around. With each swing, I killed one of the storm daemons, all the while the one I used as a makeshift whip got bigger and bigger with each foe they essentially absorbed. It tried its best to escape my clutches but I only tightened my grip and sent more waves of pain through its makeshift body.

A few of the daemons got smart and began combing into one large mass, creating a new beast that had multiple heads/arms. It had grown nearly to the full size of a tornado and was ready to unleash the destructive power of ten of them. It roared out as red lighting flowed out of it as it arched over charging straight towards me as I swung its fellow storm daemon in a circle.

Then I swung upward just as it came down on me, and with a quick uppercut it was sent flying into the air. Its body clearly destabilized at a much higher rate as its energy consumption went up quite a bit. At this point, I doubt it was using the souls and bodies it ate anymore as those should've long since dissipated.

Yet it still continued its useless crusade to try and eat me, even though it should've had at least a basic lick of common sense. However, that was to be expected from a beast of the immaterial, formed from emotion and the actions of the sentient creatures of the physical realm.

Seeing that it wouldn't take much more to strike down the beast and since I didn't need the whip anymore, I slammed them down onto the ground. They screamed in pain, something I didn't know they could do as their body disappeared. Leaving only the titanic creature left, and cranking my knuckles I could tell it would be a cakewalk. As it slammed onto the ground, charging at me like a snake hunting its prey, I reeled back my fist gathering psychic energy in it, ready to send this creature back to its dimension.

Then as it neared me I punched its main head sending it in an entirely different direction, sending cracks all throughout its body. Then before it could try to recover, I grabbed hold of it used two hands, and began to tear it apart. Splitting it in half as the creature roared and attacked me trying its best to corrupt me, at least I assumed so.

Then with a final pull, I split the creature in half sending it back to the immaterial realm like the rest of its brethren.

Taking a breath I inspected the damage and saw that only a clearing alongside the occasional log was all that remained. Grabbing my face I shook my head forming a plan on how to properly cover it all up.

"Well, I suppose there are worse ways to spend your first day in the physical realm.
