Chapter 517: Is the Sect Master Jealous?
Chapter 517: Is the Sect Master Jealous?
Lin Fengmian was caught off guard when he was thrown into the Wanlong Ten Thousand Demon Pagoda. He tried to leave, but found that there was no exit.
“Nangong Xiu, let me out!” he shouted.
Nangong Xiu ignored him, but the hundreds of demon beast statues inside the pagoda reacted.
The previously motionless statues suddenly came to life, roaring and lunging at Lin Fengmian with their claws bared.
Startled, Lin Fengmian quickly pulled out his folding fan and waved it, sending out several whirlwinds that pushed the beasts back.
He then threw the fan, which split into several circular blades that flew around him, slicing through the air.
Although there were many beasts, they were all at the early Foundation Establishment Realm level, and Lin Fengmian quickly dispatched them.
Before he could even celebrate, the scene around him shifted and he found himself on the second floor.
Bat-like demon beasts floating in the air immediately came to life, spreading their wings and diving toward him without giving him a moment to catch his breath.
“Damn it, are you kidding me? Even someone hanging themselves needs a moment to breathe!”
Lin Fengmian noticed that these beasts had thick, tough skin that was hard to penetrate, so he changed his tactics.
He channeled his spiritual energy into the fan, causing the painted firebirds on its surface to come to life and fly toward the bat-like beasts.
Outside, Nangong Xiu, who was watching through a spell, nodded slightly.
This kid isn’t completely hopeless. He’s figured out the trick so quickly.
The Ten Thousand Demon Pagoda not only tested a disciple’s basic strength, but also their ability to use spiritual energy, their combat awareness, and their observation skills. It was a comprehensive test.
Although there was no time limit inside the pagoda, once a wave of beasts was defeated, the challenger was immediately sent to the next level.
It was possible to stall by letting one beast live, but since the pagoda didn’t allow the absorption of spiritual energy or the use of recovery pills, staying longer wouldn’t help.
Under these rules, understanding the characteristics of the beasts and defeating them with minimal energy expenditure was the key to climbing higher.
Nangong Xiu couldn’t help but wonder how far this child could go.
As time passed, her expression grew more and more serious.
With only the eighth level of Foundation Establishment Realm, Lin Fengmian was effortlessly making his way to the 40th floor, completely shattering her expectations.
The top geniuses she had mentored, with similar strength, had only reached the 48th floor.
After he abandoned his flashy folding fan and switched to a sword, it was like he had been reborn.
The beasts fell to his sword with a single strike, and his seasoned combat experience made her wonder if he had been through this pagoda before.
Just as she was beginning to feel hopeful, on the 46th floor, Lin Fengmian raised his hand in surrender and calmly said, “I give up.”
As soon as he spoke, he found himself ejected from the pagoda and couldn’t help but smile.
He had guessed right. Since this was a test, surrendering would allow him to leave.
Nangong Xiu was stunned. “Why did you give up? You could have gone a few more floors, maybe even ten!”
Lin Fengmian replied nonchalantly, “Auntie, I would’ve gotten hurt. It’s not worth it!”
Nangong Xiu was both angry and frustrated, only now realizing that Lin Fengmian was immaculate, without a single scratch on him.
“You gave up because you were afraid of getting hurt?” she asked incredulously.
“Why else?” Lin Fengmian shot back.
His blood was precious – every drop counted. He couldn’t afford to get hurt.
If the Jun Wuxie blood in his body were to be replaced, he’d have to return to the Joyful Union Sect for a transfusion.
Nangong Xiu’s expression turned icy as she grabbed Lin Fengmian and threw him back into the pagoda, gritting her teeth. “You will not get out until you reach the 48th floor.”
Lin Fengmian then spent an hour cautiously grinding his way through the floors, finally reaching the 48th floor without a scratch.
Watching Lin Fengmian’s overly cautious and borderline cowardly performance, Nangong Xiu felt a pain in her chest.
This kid had a solid foundation and exceptional combat talent, but his fear of injury was wasting his potential.
As a teacher, Nangong Xiu couldn’t stand such a waste of talent.
Her anger reached its peak when Lin Fengmian surrendered immediately upon reaching the 48th floor. She whipped him furiously.
“You brat, wasting your talent! If you don’t make it to the 50th floor, I’ll beat you to death!”
But no matter how much she whipped him, Lin Fengmian refused to go any further, and eventually she grew tired.
Lin Fengmian dodged and weaved and shouted in frustration, “Nangong Xiu, don’t push me! Otherwise, I won’t hold back!”
Determined to teach him a lesson, Nangong Xiu sneered, “Go ahead. Let’s see what you’ve got!”
A moment later, Nangong Xiu looked at Lin Fengmian, who was lying on the ground pretending to be dead, and felt completely defeated.
Every time she whipped him, he let out all sorts of inappropriate noises, making her blush and her veins bulge with anger.
If this child wasn’t properly disciplined, he would be beyond saving – lustful and shameless!
Seeing that she couldn’t do anything with this rascal, she finally kicked him in frustration.
“Are you coming or not? If not, I’ll go alone!”
“I’m coming!”
Lin Fengmian scrambled to his feet as if he had been granted amnesty, only for Nangong Xiu to grab him by the ear and drag him away.
“Auntie, it hurts! My ear is going to fall off!”
“Good riddance if it does!”
By the time they returned to the palace, it was already dark.
“Auntie, no need to see me off!”
Lin Fengmian scurried into the palace as if fleeing from a demon.
Nangong Xiu was both angry and amused as she sneered, “We’ll continue tomorrow!”
Lin Fengmian ignored her. After all, You Yao should return tonight.
Once she’s here, I won’t have to listen to you!
That night, after soaking in a medicinal bath to heal his wounds and wash away his fatigue, Lin Fengmian eagerly dragged Shangguan Qiong into his room.
Shangguan Qiong had prepared herself for his usual daytime antics, but to her surprise, he had been dragged away by someone earlier.
Miraculously avoiding another round of his advances, Shangguan Qiong found it both amusing and curious.
The person who took him away was supposed to be a beautiful fairy?
Who was that woman?
As Lin Fengmian began to eagerly grope her, she half-heartedly pushed him away, feigning resistance.
“Who was the person who took you away today?”
Lin Fengmian pinned her to the bed, his movements unrelenting, and smirked. “What is this? Is the Sect Master jealous?”
Shangguan Qiong slapped him lightly, both embarrassed and annoyed. “Who is jealous? I’m serious. Stop joking around!”
“We can talk while we do it. Multitasking, right?”
As Lin Fengmian skillfully disrobed her, he explained, “That’s Jun Wuxie’s aunt…”
Unable to defend herself from his advances, Shangguan Qiong was soon stripped bare by Lin Fengmian’s deft hands.
Her desire was ignited, and although she half-heartedly resisted, her body betrayed her.
“You beast! Aren’t you afraid of exhausting yourself to death?”
Wasn’t it said that an ox dies from overwork, but the field never gets ruined?
Just as Lin Fengmian was about to make a witty remark and proceed, his expression suddenly changed.
The twin fish pendant in his dantian had lit up for the first time in a long time!
Luo Xue had finally contacted him!
“Sect master, you’re right. I’ll rest first. We’ll continue tomorrow!”
With that, Lin Fengmian immediately replied to the twin fish pendant.
After all, Shangguan Qiong had seen him in his fake death state before, so she wasn’t an outsider.
His soul left his body in an instant, and his lifeless body collapsed onto Shangguan Qiong, unmoving.
