Chapter 3 – Getting Powerful

In the previous chapter, Thorn got injured, and now they both are going to a city named "Sevvara."

Zaid is holding Thorn at the back, and both are going to Sevvara city by flying using wind magic. Now they both rest for some time in a field of grass. Zaid got worried about Thorn because of the wound he got from the monster they fought at the village. Zaid is thinking about how that monster can regenerate his body. He wants to ask Thorn, but he is not in a condition to give answers to Zaid's questions.

After some time, both started traveling to Sevvara fast because the wound will not be healed quickly. This will give a big issue to both of them. Thorn is using his healing magic to heal himself, but it's not enough to recover from the injury. After traveling some miles, both get to Sevvara — "a beautiful city with wonderful ocean scenery." When they get in the city, Zaid quickly started to find a doctor to cure Thorn from the injury.

Zaid finally found the doctor and got him to Thorn quickly. He was scared and worried for Thorn.

The doctor said to Thorn to rest for some days.

Between this, Zaid trained himself to defeat Chimera. On day one, he got some normal mission from the town hall of the city Sevvara. Zaid asked for some normal mission to complete in the city. There are some rules for it. He will be paid some bronze coins. The rules are:

1) You have to come up with some of his body parts for proof.

2) He will be paid according to mission difficulty.

If a person wants a mission in the city, he has to follow all the rules. These are the two rules which Zaid has to follow. There are also some other rules in the city for contracting a mission between a person and the town hall, which gives missions to other people in the city. They started this kind of thing to protect their city from all kinds of danger.

Zaid got the contract of a mission in which he has to defeat the giant goblin living in a cave near the city. This mission is a B-rank. There are 5 types of missions: the first and most difficult one is S-rank, and then A-rank, B-rank, C-rank, and the last one D-rank, the easiest one. Zaid got the contract for a B-rank mission, but this must be kind of difficult for him because this is his second battle and also the first battle alone.

He was a little scared, but he thinks that this is a B-rank mission, not a very difficult one. He has to defeat only one monster who is not as powerful as the one he fought in the village.

Zaid started traveling to the place where the giant goblin lives. He was thinking about all the skills he had learned from Fredrick and Thorn. He was a little scared but he had confidence in his skills. He knows that he can defeat the monster.

When Zaid got to the jungle where there was the cave of a giant goblin who can be a threat to Sevvara, he had to make some kind of strategy to fight with the goblin. At first, he checked all his tools like sword, shield, magical knife, and some other necessary equipment to fight with the goblin. Zaid was a little nervous and scared. He had a face with feelings of being scared and nervous. He waited until evening.

At the evening, the goblin came back from the hunt. Now the goblin was weak and tired, so he had an opportunity to defeat him. Zaid also thought about what would be the weakness of the monster. He saw that he got injured while he was on a hunt to find food to eat. He thought that this must be his best chance to fight with the goblin because the goblin was tired and weak with some injuries.

Now Zaid is thinking about what plan he would make to fight with that goblin and defeat him easily. Zaid is slowly, slowly getting closer to his cave where the goblin was resting. He knows that if he has to defeat the goblin, he has to cut his head. Now, when the goblin is sleeping, he has a chance to defeat him easily. But he accidentally made a step on a dry leaf, and the voice scattered around the cave and the goblin woke up.

Zaid was fully terrified as the goblin woke up and stood in front of him. The goblin was tall, and the skin tone was greenish, with a sword scar on his face. He was looking terrible. We can see the expression of fear on Zaid's face, but he thinks calmly and steps back and draws his sword out. The goblin also takes his weapon — it was a big wooden bat with nails at the center.

They start to fight. At the beginning, the goblin was being tough for Zaid. He had a small chance to stand in front of him. The goblin was injured, but he was very tough for Zaid to fight. But Zaid somehow managed to attack the back of the goblin. The goblin collapsed to his knees and fell down, and Zaid cut his head. The blood scattered and went everywhere on his body. His face was covered with the blood. Zaid cut his ears.

Zaid was trembling due to the intense fight between them. He thought that this might have been his last fight. If the goblin was not tired, he would not have had a chance to defeat him. Because of his strategy and his skills, he managed to defeat him.

Zaid started his travel again to Sevvara. Zaid now understands that he is not strong enough to survive in this world and to find his friend Noah. He came back from the mission to see Thorn. When he got to the city, he quickly went to check if Thorn was getting better or not. When he got there, he saw that Thorn was much better than before. Zaid had a generous smile on his face when he looked at Thorn, and both smiled after seeing each other's face. They both were happy. Zaid was happy to see that Thorn was well now, and Thorn was happy to see that Zaid had come back safely from the mission.

But Thorn got mad at Zaid — why he didn't tell him before going on a mission. Zaid answered him that,

"You were not in a condition to tell you about a dangerous mission, so I kept it secret from you and told only the doctor about it."

But Thorn got to know that he was on a mission. He asked in the town hall about him.

After this, they lived for the next 3 days well in the city. They enjoyed the time they spent in Sevvara. Now it is time to say goodbye to this wonderful city. They say goodbye to the doctor and other people who helped them.

Thorn is going out of the city. After a while, he feels relaxed and sad at the same time — relaxed because he will have the freedom to do whatever he wants, but sad because he no longer has time to be with the people he met in the city, and they became good friends like the doctor and some other city people.

Thorn said to Zaid,

"You know, Zaid, this is such a nice city. This city has the best people I have ever met."

Zaid replied,

"Good. I also want to spend time with them, but I have to do some important work out of the city."

They do conversation like this that day. At night, they stop in a jungle to be protected from the wild predators. They make a tent to protect themselves.

That night, Zaid waited outside the tent to protect both of them. Thorn said to him that he would stay out there for their protection, but Zaid did not allow Thorn to fight with other monsters that early.

Next morning, they started traveling again. After some time, they got into the jungle where a powerful monster lives named Chimera —

"a beast with the body of a lion, wings of an eagle, and the tail like a snake, which is poisonous."

Zaid had read about this creature in the book which was in the house of Thorn.

They make a plan to defeat him. Chimera is a powerful monster which has a lot of cursed energy and very powerful attacks. They made a plan that at first Thorn will attack Chimera when he is asleep, but the monster is strong. He will not be killed that easily. Then he will fight him, and when the monster gets weaker, Zaid will come and cut off his head into two parts. This plan seems to be easy, but not to be executed easily. A single mistake can be very dangerous for both of them.

They go to the place where Chimera lives. There is a big cave in the middle of the mountain. The place was too dangerous for a fight. Chimera can fly. He can get there easily, but Zaid can use wind magic, but Thorn can't. Thorn is a battle-type magic user. He uses only magic for his battles.

Now when Zaid sends Thorn to his cave with the help of magic, the monster was eating something. Thorn and Zaid waited outside the cave for Chimera to sleep. When Chimera was going to sleep, they both drew their weapons. They both seemed scared. Thorn was not scared of the monster. He was scared for Zaid — how can he manage to defeat that monster? Zaid was scared, nervous, and trembling in fear after seeing that kind of monster. He seems more powerful than the giant goblin and the monster they fought in the village.

Thorn attacked him when he was asleep — at his head — but the skin of his was very strong. Nothing happened to him. He woke up. Thorn trembled in fear when the big Chimera stood in front of him. He attacked him with the sword, but Chimera dodged it and attacked Thorn with his claws. But he defended himself with the sword.

Zaid thought that if he didn't help fast, the consequences would be worse than before. Zaid attacked him with the sword from the back. Thorn got shocked. This is not going as planned. Thorn attacked him at the neck, but that attack didn't do anything to him. They both knew that this creature was not possible for both of them to defeat.

Thorn is a powerful person who can defeat anyone with some problems, but this is not the case with Chimera. Now they got back and ran away from there as quickly as possible.

They got back to the city the next evening. They both managed to return, but they were badly injured. The doctor saw them in that bad condition. He asked them,

"What happened?"

Thorn replied,

"That monster is more powerful than our imagination."

They need a full team to defeat him.

They both are in the hospital for some days. After some days, they go in the city searching for a powerful warrior who can help them defeat Chimera. A few days passed, but no one was coming to fight Chimera. No one wanted to lose their life. Thorn and Zaid also continued to live in such a bad condition.

"What? There is no one who can help us?" Zaid said.

Then they saw a person with a big sword and a strong iron suit. They both went to ask him if he could help them to fight Chimera. He said that he would think about it and tell them the next day. They both got very happy after someone did not deny them. They both went to the doctor's place. The doctor asked them,

"Did you get someone in the team?"

They told him about the person they met on the street. The doctor was also happy after hearing that.

They both rested that night, and the next day in the early morning, they waited for him at the cafe. He came there after some time and was ready to come with them for the fight, but he wanted 40% of the revenue they would get from defeating the Chimera. They both agreed to it.

After training for some days, they were ready to fight Chimera.

The chapter ends here. We will get to know what will happen in the fight and who is that person, and what's his name.
