Journey to the West: Tang Monk Conquers Everything

Chapter 437: Nightmare

Jiang Liu sat cross-legged on the back of the White Dragon Horse, continuing his cultivation of the Green Lotus Taoist Scripture. As time trickled by, his Experience Points were slowly increasing.

After completing a Complete Cycle of eighty-one cycles of True Yuan circulation within his body, Jiang Liu ceased his state of cultivation. He then took some materials out of the Gang's Treasury and swiftly crafted a dozen Perfect-Level pieces of equipment and clothing before halting the cultivation of his Life Profession.

Sitting on the back of the White Dragon Horse, Jiang Liu pondered to himself. It had been some time since they left the Women's Kingdom, and he had no idea what kind of challenges awaited him up ahead.

It's worth mentioning that in the half-month since leaving the Women's Kingdom, Jiang Liu and the White Dragon Horse continued to team up, tackling dungeons about ten to eight times daily. Due to this, the speed of acquiring Experience Points was quite fast.

Based on the Experience Points, it wouldn't be long before he advanced to level 57.

"Wukong, our supplies are running low. Why don't you fly up into the clouds and see how far we are from the next town?" After pondering for a moment, Jiang Liu, noticing that his storage space was running low, spoke to Sun Wukong.

However, Sun Wukong was only looking down, trudging ahead without paying any attention to what he said.

"Wukong?" Noticing Sun Wukong's downcast look and his disregard for his own words, Jiang Liu felt somewhat astonished and called out again.

"Ah? Master, what did you say?" Upon hearing Jiang Liu's call, Sun Wukong finally snapped back to reality, lifting his head to ask Jiang Liu.

"I said, we are running low on supplies. We need to replenish salt, and the rice and flour. Fly up into the clouds and see how far we are from the next town!"

Seeing that Sun Wukong had finally come to his senses, Jiang Liu repeated what he had just said.

However, as soon as he said this, Jiang Liu paused and then looked at Sun Wukong with an astonished gaze, saying, "Wukong, you seem absent-minded. What are you thinking about?"

Indeed, Sun Wukong usually had an excess of energy, maybe even cartwheeling while walking normally.

But walking with his head down and lost in thought? Jiang Liu had never seen that before. Your next chapter is on My Virtual Library Empire

"Master, I, Old Sun, really don't know..." Hearing Jiang Liu's question, Sun Wukong also looked perplexed, shook his head, and said, "I just feel restless, as if something bad is about to happen."

"Then hurry up and check if something is amiss! With your abilities, you should be able to see very far, right!?" Hearing Sun Wukong's words, Jiang Liu tensed up slightly.

If an ordinary person felt a bit uneasy, it would have been nothing significant. But if Sun Wukong felt such restlessness?

With his cultivation level at the Great Perfection of the Taiyi True Immortal realm, if he indeed felt such sensations, it couldn't just be a coincidence, right? It must be that something had happened to trigger such a premonition.

"Yeah, my eyes can see what the deities in the Heavenly Court are doing, and my ears can hear what the ghosts in the Underworld are saying!" Replying to Jiang Liu, Sun Wukong boasted with a self-satisfied manner.

While speaking, Sun Wukong focused his eyes, glowing with Golden Light, and looked into the distance.

First, Sun Wukong checked Flower Fruit Mountain to see if trouble had arisen there.

However, after inspecting it, Sun Wukong found that everything at Flower Fruit Mountain was as it always had been, with no issues.

Then, his gaze shifted to Nezha in the Palace of the Heavenly King.

But Nezha was inside the Palace of the Heavenly King, which blocked his Divine Skills, leaving him unable to see anything. After considering it, Sun Wukong then looked towards the Moon Palace.

However, atop the Moon Palace, Sun Wukong couldn't find any trace of Zixia, which made him pause in surprise.

Zixia was missing? Had she left the Moon Palace? Where could she have gone?

Thinking it over, Sun Wukong followed the direction of the Moon Palace and soon found Zixia's trail.

However, upon seeing Zixia, Sun Wukong's face involuntarily changed.

"How is it? Wukong, did you see something?" Jiang Liu, who had been watching Sun Wukong closely, naturally noticed the change in his expression.

"Master, you're not wrong, it's Zixia who's in trouble. She's flying in our direction right now, but there's something strange about Zixia!" After retracting his Divine Skills, Sun Wukong took out his Jingu Bang and spoke urgently.

"Strange!?" Jiang Liu looked at Sun Wukong with an inquiring gaze, not understanding what he meant by strange.

"Zixia is coming on a cloud, but she has fallen asleep on it!" Leaving behind these words, Sun Wukong leaped up and, with the Divine Skill of the Somersault Cloud, instantly disappeared into the horizon.

"Flying on a cloud and falling asleep on it?" Hearing this, Jiang Liu was stupefied and had never heard of such a thing before.

However, Sun Wukong only mentioned that Zixia fell asleep while flying on a cloud and said nothing about any enemies nearby. It seemed likely that there was no danger, after all.

...

Zixia still stood upon the clouds, looking at the dense figures before her, her expression extremely unsightly.

Since the mysterious figures had appeared before her, Zixia had already struck dozens of times.

Logically, having successfully hit the opponent dozens of times, she should have killed them by now, yet every time she killed off the figures, the mysterious shadows were able to resurrect, and each time they did, more appeared than before.

Now, there were already dozens of mysterious figures blocking her way.

"Who on earth is this guy!?" As she looked at the figures before her, Zixia's heart was quietly heavy.

It seemed as though no form of attack had any effect or result whatsoever.

"Hehehe, how about it? Are you out of strength now? If so, then I will not stand on ceremony to take you, this little beauty!" The dense figures nearly completely surrounded Zixia, spouting sleazy words as they all started converging toward her.

"Get away, get away from me!" Watching the countless figures close in, Zixia mustered her energy and launched an attack on the surrounding figures.

Being encircled by dozens of figures, for Zixia, there was no need to aim anymore; she just had to release her spells to attack.

As her attacks were unleashed, one figure after another was annihilated.

However, it was as if these figures possessed immortal bodies; no matter how she attacked or how many she eliminated, more figures would appear, seeming endless.

As the attacks kept coming, Zixia gradually became exhausted, drenched in sweat and feeling incredibly weary.

...

"Zixia, Zixia, what's wrong with you?"

Sun Wukong's Somersault Cloud was very fast, arriving before Zixia in the blink of an eye, only to see her passed out, unresponsive to his shouts, which caused Sun Wukong to sense that something was amiss—her condition was very strange indeed.

After a brief hesitation, Sun Wukong took Zixia down from mid-air, bringing her to rest atop a mountain peak below.

Next, Sun Wukong extended his monkey paw, pressing a finger to the center of Zixia's forehead, allowing his Primordial Spirit to exit his body and enter Zixia's Purple Mansion Spirit Platform.

Sun Wukong felt a blur before his eyes and suddenly, he found himself high in the sky where countless figures densely surrounded Zixia in the middle; she seemed on the verge of collapsing.

"What is this? Zixia's dream? She's trapped in her own dream!?" Seeing the scene unfold, Sun Wukong was slightly taken aback.

Witnessing Zixia struggling within the dream, Sun Wukong shook his Jingu Bang.

With his movement, the Jingu Bang lengthened and with a single sweep, he cleared the surrounding mass of figures.

"Monkey? How did you come here?" Initially at her last gasp, Zixia was startled and delighted to see Sun Wukong's sudden appearance and asked.

"Hey, Zixia, what exactly is going on? How did you get trapped in your own dream?" Sun Wukong inquired, right after sweeping away countless figures with his staff.

"Ah? In a dream? You're saying this is a dream?" Zixia's eyes widened in astonishment as she questioned Sun Wukong.

"Yeah! Don't you know that yourself?" Sun Wukong nodded at her words.

As they spoke, Sun Wukong's Jingu Bang swept out, a fierce aura bursting forth, "Whoever you are, skulking in the shadows, show some real skill and come out!"

"Hehehe, Great Sage, Equal to Heaven, Sun Wukong? Turns out you're nothing more than a brute…"

Following Sun Wukong's declaration, the mysterious figure in a black cloak reappeared, hovering before Sun Wukong and Zixia.

"Who are you? What do you want!?" Sun Wukong frowned at the mysterious figure.

"Me? You may call me Nightmare, and what am I doing? Why, hunting of course!" The mysterious figure spoke with a tone full of smugness, "This Fairy Zixia is a prey I fancy, and consuming a being of the Heavenly Immortal Realm like her, I shall undoubtedly become stronger!"

"However, I didn't expect that instead of just hunting a small fry, I would have a big fish jump in!"

The little woman referred to Zixia, of course, and the big fish to Sun Wukong.

Hearing the mysterious figure's self-disclosure, Sun Wukong had an epiphany, "Nightmare!? Oh, I, Old Sun, have heard of you, a mere wisp of Spiritual Sense without a physical body. It's said your favorite thing is to sneakily pull people into dreams and then kill them there to devour their Primordial Spirits, right?"

"Just, you think you can devour I, Old Sun? I'm afraid you don't have the ability!"
