Journey to the West: Treasure Vase of the Great Dao

Chapter 2 The Teacher

"You have such a ruthless heart, leaving me behind all by myself." The Dragon Queen, looking at her husband's face, was immediately filled with sorrow, as she pointed at her husband and wept.

"Yes, it is indeed bitter for you alone." The Jing River Dragon King could not help but shed tears as well, the couple who had cherished each other for many years now wept together in their own home, expressing their love and the sorrow of parting over the years.

Lu Yu sat in the room arranged for him in the Dragon Palace, overhearing the faint sound of weeping and couldn't help but sigh. There was no greater sadness in this world than the pain of separation by life and death; the Jing River Dragon King, willing to embrace death for the sake of his child, had moved Lu Yu with the affection of a loving father.

However, at that moment, a commotion suddenly erupted from outside his door.

A young voice came from outside: "Who is this Scholar, to act so presumptuously? My father is such a personage and yet must show him such respect, and this Scholar even dares to accept it."

"Lao Qi, don't be rash. Mr. Lu is someone Father went to great lengths to invite here. Do not cause offense, Father will be displeased."

"Seventh brother, Mr. Lu is obviously a good man, you mustn't bully him."

"Eldest brother, little sister, don't stop me. Today, I want to see what makes this Scholar so divine, what right he has to accept our father's profound respect."

No sooner had the words been spoken than Lu Yu saw a young man burst through his door, with a fierce countenance, clad in iron armor, and wielding a steel whip, glaring angrily.

Yet Lu Yu remained composed, looking at the furiously entering young man and said, "Who are you to barge into my room so rudely and without cause?" Enjoy new stories from My Virtual Library Empire

"Listen up, I am the Seventh Prince of this Jing River Dragon Palace, and who might you be, Scholar?"

"I am the Scholar invited by your father, and not only do you not understand respect for your teacher and value of the way, but you also dare to be insolent?" Lu Yu said with a smile.

"Bah, I don't know from where this charlatan comes, he even dares to speak so brazenly here, pretending to be my teacher. Have you not looked at your own scrawny figure to see if it can withstand a hit from my iron whip?" The Dragon Son spoke harshly and abusively.

Hearing these words, Lu Yu's face broke into a smile and he said, "It seems today I must properly teach you what it means to respect the teacher and value the way."

Upon hearing this, the Dragon Son flew into a rage, brandishing his steel whip and striking at Lu Yu. However, before he even reached Lu Yu, he heard a faint word by his ear: "Freeze."

He suddenly found himself unable to move an inch, and hastily tried to circulate his mana, but found the mana within his body was as immovable as a mountain, and he simply couldn't use it at all.

"What evil technique have you used, you Scholar? Release me at once; let's have a fair fight for three hundred rounds. What kind of hero uses a sneak attack?" he shouted angrily, but Lu Yu merely pointed lightly, and he found he was unable to even open his mouth.

Lu Yu walked up to the Dragon Son, lifted him gently in hand, as if he were carrying a little chick.

The Dragon Son had always been domineering, and everyone in the Dragon Palace feared him. Now seeing someone carrying him away like this, they all looked on with curiosity. But such glances filled the Dragon Son with shame and rage, yet his entire body was completely immobilized, unable to even muster an angry expression on his face.

Lu Yu brought the Dragon Son up to the Crystal Palace and cast a spell. Instantly, a ribbon made from water hung from the beams of the Crystal Palace. He gently hung the Dragon Son on the ribbon, and with a stretch of his hand, heavy water appeared, forming into a long whip.

With a "snap" sound, the whip made of heavy water struck the Dragon Son's body, making a crisp noise.

The Dragon Son felt so much pain from the whip as if a steel whip had struck him, even though it was clearly made of water. However, at that moment, he couldn't even scream if he wanted to. His face still showed the previous expression, unable to change in any way.

"Today, I will teach you the first lesson of life, respecting your teachers and valuing their teachings," Lu Yu said, but his hand movements did not cease as the clear sound echoed throughout the entire Crystal Palace.

The couple, who had been weeping in their room, were suddenly interrupted by a report from outside. As they opened the door, they saw an older Dragon Palace maid running toward them with an anxious face.

"Great King, Queen, it's terrible. The Seventh Prince has run amok in Mr. Lu's room."

Upon hearing this, the couple immediately covered their foreheads. All of their children were quite well-behaved, except for this Seventh Prince—Lao Qi—who had been mischievous and uncontrollable from a young age, and prone to rage. With a bit of divine power by birth, he never took others seriously, and they didn't know how much trouble he had caused over the years.

"That wretched child! Lead the way. I am going to discipline this ungrateful and arrogant son," the Jing River Dragon King said furiously.

However, before the couple had left the house, someone else came to report: "It's terrible, Mr. Lu has hung the Seventh Prince up and is beating him."

Both hesitated, retracting the steps they had been about to take, and the Dragon Queen said with slight concern, "How does Mr. Lu look? I hope he doesn't hurt Lao Qi too badly."

Ever since she learned that this seemingly frail scholar once tied in battle with the powerful Sea Deity of the Three Altars, she had not been worried that her mischievous son could do anything to the scholar. Instead, she feared that the boy might really infuriate the scholar and get beaten half to death, which would not be good.

"Madam, rest assured. This scholar possesses a Treasure Vase that holds the Divine Water of Three Lights; even if he is beaten to a bloody pulp, drinking from this water will heal him immediately. We should not hinder the scholar. If Lao Qi can learn a thing or two from the scholar's abilities, that would be a cause for great joy," said the Dragon King.

Upon hearing this, the Dragon Queen was immediately relieved. She, too, knew that her son was indeed a handful and badly needed someone to discipline him properly. Now that a capable person like Lu Yu was taking on the task, the couple was too happy to interfere.

Instead, they entered their room, closed the door tightly, and shared private words as a couple, since their time together was getting short.

Meanwhile, a large number of Jing River Aquatic Tribe members had gathered in front of the Crystal Palace. The spectacle of the arrogant Seventh Prince being hung and beaten was sensational news that had shaken the whole Jing River, and many from the Aquatic Tribes had come to witness the pitiful state of the Chaos Demon King.

It was only upon arrival that they realized the once unruly Seventh Prince had been beaten black and blue and couldn't move an inch. It was then they truly understood the fearsomeness of the scholarly-looking man before them.

Lu Yu lightly pointed his finger, releasing the Dragon Son from the Freezing Curse. At once, the Dragon Son let out a miserable scream, his face filled with rage as he looked around at the people. Finally, turning to Lu Yu, he spat hatefully, "Pah, if you dare, kill me. Otherwise, I will make sure you suffer."

"Hmm! Not bad, I do like difficult children like you," Lu Yu said as he pointed gently, and the Divine Water of Three Lights flowed into the Dragon Son's mouth. The Dragon Son's injuries healed at a visible speed.
