Journey to the West: Treasure Vase of the Great Dao

Chapter 307 Farewell

This was the culmination of their efforts and the pinnacle of the Taoist Sect's art of divination. Without Lu Yu's assistance, the river of time and destiny would not have emerged. With these scrolls, it was enough to ensure that both would be remembered in history.

"Senior brother, please give it a name." Li Chunfeng gently caressed the scroll, the slightly coarse paper not feeling particularly comfortable, yet it offered him immense satisfaction. It was, after all, their most cherished creation.

Encompassing nearly two thousand years of change, capable of driving the world mad; such a creation required a resounding name.

Yuan Tiangang pondered for a moment, then smiled softly and said, "Let's call it 'Tui Bei Tu'!"

His voice was calm and joyful. Ever since the appearance of the scroll, his ties with the Human Path's karma were severed; the restlessness in his heart cleared away, purity arose, and he saw the illumination of his true nature. There was an air of transcendence about him that astonished Li Chunfeng, who realized that his senior brother had passed through a great tribulation, greatly advancing in his cultivation as a result.

"'Tui Bei Tu'? Senior brother, how did you come up with such a name? I thought you would choose something more domineering," said Li Chunfeng with a laugh.

It was, after all, their shared effort, and Li Chunfeng had expected his senior brother, given his personality, to choose a name that would shock the world, a name that could represent their achievement. Yet, it turned out to be this one.

"Now that my tribulation is behind me and my mind is purified, reflecting on my past actions, I see they were rash, not fitting for a Cultivator to undertake. This scroll predicts endless changes in the future, and it is indeed a strange tome. What does it matter what name it bears?" he said.

After saying this, he pointed to the scroll in Li Chunfeng's hand and recited softly, "In the vast predestined fate, we seek our paths, the rise and fall of the world not ours to control. Countless events cannot be fully told, better to retreat and rest with 'Tui Bei Tu' in hand."

"Haha, senior brother has truly grasped the way. 'Tui Bei Tu' is indeed a fine name. This poem of yours should be included in the scroll," Li Chunfeng said, laughing heartily.

At this moment, both fulfilled their desire, achieving perfect peace of mind, with a hint of detachment from the world. They felt no attachment to worldly fame and fortune, simply enjoying the comfort and spaciousness, as if the universe itself had expanded.

Long confined within a cage, now they could return to nature. With this advancement in their mindset, their cultivation progressed as if a rising tide lifts all boats.

"Junior brother, with this matter concluded, I've decided to retreat to the mountains and forests, no longer involving myself with this mundane world. I will devote myself entirely to cultivation. What are your plans?" Yuan Tiangang said.

"Senior brother, you know me well. I've long lost any attachment to this mundane world. It was only because of the guidance in cultivation you've given me that I've lingered in this world, keeping you company. Why don't we, as brothers, retire together? Would that not be splendid?"

Yuan Tiangang nodded with a smile and said, "Junior brother, your words are very much in line with my thoughts."

As the two chatted and laughed, Lu Yu awoke from his meditative state and approached them, asking with a smile, "What has happened that has made you both so joyful?"

Li Chunfeng, excited, handed him the scroll he held and said, "Please look, sir, this is what we have accomplished this time."

Lu Yu unfolded the scroll, seeing pages illustrated with different patterns and a short poem acting as an annotation to each. With just a glance, he recognized that these depicted pivotal events that would shape the future world—it was a scroll forecasting the future.

He nodded with a smile and said, "Congratulations, you have completed this extraordinary work."

Upon receiving Lu Yu's affirmation, both Yuan Tiangang and Li Chunfeng showed delighted expressions. To be praised by such an esteemed figure as Lu Yu was enough to bring them both great joy.

"However, ultimately, this scroll reveals Heaven's Secret, and if it were to be spread, you might inevitably incur heavenly retribution to your detriment," Lu Yu added.

His words shocked them both. They stared at their labor of love, momentarily lost. Caught up in excitement, they had forgotten the severity of revealing Heaven's Secret. The repercussions could be severe enough to cost them their lives.

They immediately knelt and pleaded with Lu Yu, "Please, sir, bestow upon us a Technique that would allow this extraordinary tome not to be buried like pearls in dust."

Without responding, Lu Yu rose on a cloud of Auspicious Clouds towards the sky, stirring up a Great Wind. The wind blew through the scroll in Li Chunfeng's hands, loosening his grip, and inadvertently, the scroll was released, flying chaotically in the air. Both scrambled to gather the pages. When they had finally reorganized the scroll, they were astonished to discover that the order of the pages was completely scrambled.

Without profound knowledge in divination, it would now be impossible to clearly discern the predictions on the scroll. Moreover, it seemed to hold a mysterious aura that would often lead those who saw it to misinterpret its direction.

Seeing this, Yuan Tiangang's eyes lit up, finally understanding Lu Yu's method. The wind had been intentionally raised, the scroll scattered, now left to the Heavenly Dao.

Under the laws of the Heavenly Dao, the scroll was reorganized, now shrouded in an aura that hid Heaven's Secret to prevent its inadvertent revelation.

This way, the prophecies that were once clear became obscured once more; perhaps only those with profound fortune might stumble upon a true answer within.

"The Great Dao is profound and mysterious, indeed beyond our comprehension," Yuan Tiangang sighed softly.

Li Chunfeng nodded and said, "But this is for the best. From now on, we need not fear Heavenly Dao's reproach, for we have managed to preserve this strange tome."

Yuan Tiangang, hearing this, laughed and nodded. Such an outcome was most fitting.

When the two descended from Li Mountain, they saw Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, anxiously waiting at the foot of the mountain. Upon seeing Yuan Tiangang and Li Chunfeng, he immediately came forward and asked, "Have the Taoist Priests achieved something?"
