Chapter 1335: Up in Flames
"I am not sure if I should be impressed or terrified."
"As someone who has seen this sort of thing before, both."
When Sazira and Zhen Xing dropped their mining act to go and see what caused that massive explosion of power, they were able to do so unimpeded.
This display of [Chaos] had done wonders in attracting the attention of all the kaijin in the mines, making it so that any slave in the general area of that aforementioned explosion had ample opportunity to just...run away.
However, very few did so.
Many of the slaves were too broken or too injured to make use of such opportunities, so they simply focused on their task and let out small sighs of relief over the fact that they were able to take a break from the abuse.
Regardless, Zhen Xing and Sazira were able to join a growing crowd of mortal and kaijin who were investigating the sound.
By the time the duo managed to reach the main source of the noise, they had coincidentally arrived at the moment of its greatest climax.
BANG!
Namely, the exact moment a lion Bloodliner slave girl used a claw made of gold ore to shatter the [Core] of an axololt-looking Kaijin in front of everybody.
"Oh...shit."
The moment this action occurred, silence fell over the mine like a heavy blanket smothering a flame.
The kaijin were stunned because they just saw one of their own get taken out by a mortal.
The mortals were stunned because they just saw one of their own take out one of these borderline immortal monsters.
As for the several or so people who were in the know about what had just occurred, they were silent by choice.
After all, they didn't want anyone to know that they knew...for about five seconds.
"Holy shit..."
"Yup."
While Sazira was busy gawking at this unbelievable sight, Zhen Xing began to channel [Chaos] into his voice in order to communicate with a certain multi-colored fireball that managed to land on his shoulder while everyone else was gawking at the lioness warrior.
...
'I see you two managed to find our hero...odd question, do you guys like... purposefully find warrior women who are in our age range, or is it just a happy coincidence?' Zhen Xing asked, point-blank. 'Because I'm starting to understand Jin Fang's misgivings about Xiao Liu...'
[Honestly? Completely accidental,] Blazejudicator answered. [We actually have a running theory among both us kaijin and the curators that it has to do with the Executor's luck. Like...creation is attempting to make up for the fact that he almost died...but at the same time, attempt to kill him using unusual encounters. Kind of why it seems to rubberband between him meeting beauties and getting involved in situations like these all the time.]
'That...makes too much sense.'
[Yeah...anyways, we should probably bail out Nepherage and the lion girl before things gone sideways.]
'Right.'
...
[YOU WASTEFUL WHORE!]
[How could you destroy his core?! You should've at least give it to one of us so it wouldn't go to waste!]
[This bitch...]
As the kaijin surrounding Lyona and Taurna continued to rage the former noticed that they didnt seem to be that upset that she had killed one of their compatriots.
If anything, they were more upset that she had apparently destroyed the kaijin's core for no purpose other than to slay them.
The bloodlust was actually so intense among the kaijin that one of them decided to act right there and then.
Sloth-like kaijin with features akin to a weasel, lashed out with their long arms and attempted to tear off Lyona's arms.
...
[Make sure to keep your sister safe.]
'You don't have to tell me twice!'
...
^Taurna, get behind me!^
^Right!^
As the claws surged towards Lyona, the lion Bloodliner proceeded to stiffen her hands as if she was bearing her own claws to match the sloth, nail for nail.
Responding to her intent, the [Chaos] empowering her began to concentrate in her finger tips, causing the stone coating it to suddenly sharpen to a razor finish.
Before the sloth's arms could connect, Lyona stepped forward and swung her claws wildly, slashing straight through the flesh of the sloth and leaving long, bloody gashes up and down their arms.
[FUCK!]
Repelled by the pain, the sloth-like kaijin retracted their arms and stared in disbelief over the fact that this mortal bitch had somehow left actual wounds upon his body.
If they had originated from another kaijin, he would've been significantly less pissed about the injuries.
[How the hell does this waste of flesh have Chaos?!]
[Don't know, don't care, move!]
...
[Incoming kick from the front. Duck or counter.]
'Counter!'
[What about the bastard charging in from behind you?]
'Why do you think I'm countering?!'
[Nice.]
...
Uncaring about the plight of their ally, a kaijin that resembled an ostrich and an tortoise mashed together, rushed towards Lyona with the intent of smashing her skull in with a heavy kick.
At the same time, a boar-like kaijin with significantly more horns than what was considered normal decided to rush at Lyona and Taurna with the intent of splattering them both into a fine blood mist.
[Lion's Shoulder Throw!]
With stone covered fists, Lyona mimicked a lion's maw and crunched down on the leg flying for her face, locking it in place and shattering bones in the process.
The captured kaijin didn't even have time to scream out in pain before Lyona twisted herself and swung the poor bastard into the charging kaijin that was immediately behind her.
Correction, swung down.
Neither kaijin were injured enough from the attack to be forced into a cycling, nor was it enough to obliterate their cores.
It was, however, enough to rattle their skulls to the point that neither of them would be able to continue fighting.
Unfortunately, there were about sixteen or so other kaijin that wanted a piece of Lyona.
[Alright, going in one at a time clearly isn't working anymore.]
[In that case, let's all go in at once!]
[Yeah!]
...
[And now it's ten to one. Going to be honest, I don't think you'll be able to fight this many monsters at once.]
'This would be the part where I say this is when I die fighting...but I...refuse to let someone else die for my actions.'
[Now that right there, is an excellent attitude to have. Then it's a very good thing that help is on the way. Well, an escape route.]
'It is?!'
[Just grab your friend, hold her tight and wait for the fireworks in three...]
...
Realizing that attacking one at a time was just asking to get their asses kicked in, all of the kaijin present decided to coat themselves in [Chaos] before rushing in all at once.
Normally, they hated doing something like this unless they were hunting a particularly large aether beast.
But Lyona had proved herself to be just as formidable as those beasts, and had to be handled as such.
[GET HER!]
"HOW ABOUT, NO?!"
[Flames of Judgement: Chasity!]
[WHAT?!]
^Huh?^
A rain of white flames fell from above and formed a protective circle around Lyona and Taurna.
^What the-?!^
^Its okay,^ Lyona assured Taurna. ^Its a friend.^
The flames had a soothing and restorative effect on Lyona and Taurna, as they felt their wounds heal and their stress melt away.
The same could not be said about the enemy kaijin.
[GRK...grk...]
[I feel...weird...]
[What the fuck is up with these flames? Why do I feel guilty about my thoughts?!]
The pure white flames caused the encroaching kaijin to stop mid-charge and actively back away as if these flames were toxic beyond belief.
As they backed way, Zhen Xing and Sazira entered from above and landed in circle where Lyona and Taurna were standing.
Needless to say, the Bloodliner girls were a little shocked at the sudden appearance of these human warriors.
Taurna moreso than Lyona, for obvious reasons.
^Where in the hell did you two come from?^
^Worry about that later,^ Zhen Xing answered. ^Just get ready to cover your eyes when I say, "three".^
^Why?^ Lyona asked.
^THREE!^
^FUCK!^
With a clap of his hands, Zhen Xing released a surge of [Chaos] that caused the [Flames of Chastity] to explode with a loud bang and an even brighter flash of light.
[FUCK!]
[MY EYES!]
[I CAN'T HEAR! I CAN'T HEAR!]
The astoundingly bright light blinded and deafened practically everyone watching the battle unfold at this moment, while positively stunning the kaijin closest to the blast zone.
^Alright, no more gawking. Move!]
It took the kaijin quite some time to recover from this assault of the senses, and by the time they did, Lyona and Taurna were long gone.
...
[Excellent work, Blazejudicator. I didn't know your flames could do that.]
[Actually, that was Master Zhen Xing's idea. The man has a surprisingly good understanding on how to manipulate aether flames.]
[Really? Better than you?]
[No, but he is clever.]
