Kirigakure Gamer : Rise of the mist

Chapter 36: Training

[Island of Steel, Kirigakure Settlement]

After taking leadership of the team and having been promoted to chunin, Takeshi did not dare to celebrate. The Island of Steel was no place for that. Their scouting mission had revealed that official teams of Kumogakure had been deployed on the island of steel.

Kumogakure, similarly to Konohagakure, often used a combination of jonin and genins to allow their most talented heirs to gain experience. The team that they had defeated had ties to clans. Most teams would not have survived the encounter with a jonin, and unfortunately, Kirigakure could not afford to do the same.

Ever since the information got out, the patrols became scarcer, and only chunins and above were sent to the North Coast.

In the meantime, Takeshi took Yukiko and Naya to the training grounds.

It was time to test out his latest technique.

Suiton no Jutsu : Needles of Falling Rain [B]

Otuka had granted him with a special reward for killing an enemy jonin and successfully completing the scouting mission: a B-rank jutsu.

Takeshi had hesitated a lot between a defensive jutsu, but he ultimately settled for one that had been developped in Amegakure: Needles of Falling Rain. It was an area of effect jutsu, one that had the potential to turn a battlefield around.

It was pretty simple in theory. Using the existing rain around them, the user infuses their chakra into the individual raindrops, sharpening them into ultra-thin needles to fall down and skew their targets. Because of its minuscule nature and how they blend in with the rest of the rain, it is hard for a person to discern the true nature of this technique without prior knowledge of it, making it a deadly weapon.

There was one defect to the jutsu: its chakra consumption.

Despite having low jonin-level chakra, his stats being above 100 points, it still depleted Takeshi roughly half of his reserves. The result was horrifying, however. The dummies which had been displayed were now covered in cuts, all having received more than the maximum amount of damage they could have taken.

[Dummy - HP: 0 / 200]

[Dummy - HP: 0 / 200]

[Dummy - HP: 0 / 200]

[Dummy - HP: 0 / 200]

...

"You never cease to surprise me, Takeshi", Naya said in a surprised voice, "Ninjutsu experts would take months to learn a new B-rank jutsu, yet it only took you a couple of days to learn it"

Yukiko nodded, frowning slightly: "This jutsu is pretty rare too...Even for a genius, this is too much!"

Takeshi smiled: "I am far from mastering it. If it were not for the chakra consumption, I could practice it much faster...I guess I am still lacking"

Naya smiled: "Care for a spar? You told me that you trained under the commander, who was one of the seven legendary swordsmen for a long period. You are a monster in ninjutsu and kenjutsu...Surely I can learn a lot from you"

Takeshi smiled. This was exactly the reason why he had set his eyes onto her. Her unyielding spirit, her hunger for strength...These were the attributes he needed in a subordinate.

Unsheathing his sword, he proceeded to breathe in and relax his entire body.

"Come", he said in a calm voice

Naya obliged, charging like a fury. Her strike was basic, but sharp. The thrust was without defect, but lacked strength.

Although Naya was slightly stronger attribute-wise, Takeshi was no weakling. He easily deflected the thrust, and used a water taijutsu to break her rythm.

Suiton no jutsu: Water Palm [D]

Although it was ninjutsu, it required no seal. Envelopping his palm with a layer of pressurized water, it would burst upon contact with the target, amplifying the force. With jonin-level chakra density, the jutsu was lethal.

Naya did not expect such a parry and counter, and was sent flying onto the ground.

Before she could get up, Takeshi had already had time to form four seals.

Tiger → Ox → Dragon → Monkey

Shadow Shuriken [D]

Two shuriken hit her arm, disarming her.

*SWOOSH*

The pain and jutsu had given Takeshi enough time to close the distance. She was at his mercy now.

Naya and Yukiko could not believe their eyes. They knew Takeshi was strong, unbelievably so. But in this duel, he had displayed perfect shinobi arts, from shurikenjutsu to taijutsu and ninjutsu. He used D-rank jutsu with utmost proficiency, leaving no gaps. Each attack had a use, combining with other attacks, leaving no room for breathing.

"Impressive", Yukiko stuttered

Takeshi smiled upon looking at his logs.

[You have completed the E-rank mission 'Daily Training'. You have received 100 EXP, 1 point of strength]

[From recent combat, you have earned 3 points of proficiency in the suiton jutsu Needles of Falling Rain [B]]

[You have earned 4 points of proficiency in the suiton jutsu Water Palm [D]]

[You have earned 2 points of proficiency in the shuriken jutsu: Shadow Shuriken [D]...]

[...]

But more importantly, there was one mission log he looked forward to.

[You have completed the D-rank mission 'Training Naya'. You have received 100 EXP, 1 point of vitality and 10 reputation points with Naya Tori. Additionally, she has grown slightly stronger. Her potential increases...]

As long as he trained her well, she would have the potential to become a trusted ally. Not to mention jonin, with the system's help, she might become an elite jonin in the future.
