Chapter 6: Troubles
It had been a few days since the monster attack, and now Sona was helping to repair the damage. She couldn't escape the admirers who kept pestering her. One of the most common questions they asked was about her relationship with Rain, as they had gotten the wrong idea that the two were dating. Annoyed, Sona would brush it off and say it was all nonsense, but they never stopped making her frustrated.
One evening, as Sona relaxed at home, Dema once again asked her about Rain. Sona clarified once more that it wasn't true.
The next day, Sona headed to the guild to take on a quest. Approaching Sarah, she was immediately teased about the rumors. Sona sighed heavily and told Sarah to stop teasing her. Shifting the topic, Sarah pointed out how Sona had become more popular lately. The news of the Fire Dragon's defeat by the two heroes of Feroa Village—Fire Rose Mage, Sona, and the S-rank adventurer, Rain—had spread. More and more people were becoming obsessed with the idea of a relationship between them, which only made Sona more frustrated.
Just then, the guild doors opened, and in walked the landlord, Utang, accompanied by his men. He handed Sona a contract and arrogantly told her to sign it immediately. Sarah, seeing trouble brewing, quickly pulled Sona behind her and greeted Utang with forced politeness. "Oh! It's an honor to meet you, my lord. Tell me, what is your purpose for coming here, Mr. Utang?"
The shameless landlord claimed that Sona now belonged to him and insisted that Sarah shouldn't interfere. Sarah, standing firm, retorted that it was her responsibility to protect an adventurer like Sona and told Utang to leave. But Utang ordered his men to take Sona and punish Sarah.
Just then, Kasandra arrived, commanding Utang to stop. Enraged, Utang insulted Kasandra, calling her the grandchild of a traitor, which caused Kasandra to freeze. The tension escalated further until Rain suddenly appeared. The adventurers, seeing Rain, were glad to have his support. He shouted at Utang, ordering him to stop. Rain then threatened to report Utang to the knights for his actions against Sona, his savior.
Utang tried to argue that Sona was at fault, but the witnesses spoke out against him, causing his confidence to wane. As he paled, Rain leaned in and whispered, "If you ever try to lay a finger on her again, I'll make sure you regret it." Utang and his men quickly retreated, and the adventurers celebrated the victory.
Rain approached Sona and Sarah to check if they were alright, then knelt in front of Sona, apologizing for the rumors. Sona accepted his apology, but as Rain prepared to leave, he told her to meet him at his house. The adventurers, misinterpreting his words, assumed it was a romantic invitation, making Sona embarrassed. She quickly left to avoid any further gossip.
At Rain's house, he laughed at the rumors and admitted that Sona was his type—but he had no romantic feelings for her. He just liked teasing her. His butler then mentioned that the prince was planning to visit Feroa Village soon. Rain's demeanor shifted, and he sighed in resentment, knowing that the prince had plans involving Sona. Rain also suspected that Utang and other nobles were involved in a scheme to gain control of her, and maybe even Dema.
Rain told his butler that Sona would likely arrive soon, and the butler confirmed that it would be a while before she came.
When Sona finally arrived at Rain's house, she was amazed by how large it was. She was greeted by the butler, who led her to Rain. As they walked, she asked the butler about Rain's family. He explained that Rain had been adopted by a noble to boost his fame due to his S-rank status. Sona felt bad for him upon hearing this.
When she finally met Rain, the butler left them alone. Rain invited Sona to sit and have some tea. After a brief, quiet moment, Rain spoke. "Thanks for coming. I have something important to discuss with you..." Sona's eyes widened, wondering what it could be.
Later, after politely bidding Rain farewell, Sona reflected on their conversation. Rain had explained that the prince's visit was imminent, and he suspected that the prince had a sinister plan to take the throne. Nobles like Utang were pulling strings to gain control of Sona, and Dema might also get caught up in the mess. Sona was worried, unsure of what to do, but Rain reassured her. He suggested that she accept Kasandra's offer to attend the academy, where both she and Dema would be protected. The Alasalas family would ensure their safety.
When Sona returned home, Dema excitedly revealed that she had awakened her blessing: Mana Infinity, meaning her mana was endless. Sona was proud and happy for her, but Rain's words about Dema getting caught in the mess lingered in her mind. Dema noticed her sister's worry and asked what was wrong, but Sona reassured her that it was nothing.
The next day, Sona and Kasandra were having dinner. Sona told Kasandra that she would accept her offer—on the condition that Dema could attend the academy as well. Kasandra was thrilled and hugged Sona tightly, pressing their breasts together. Suddenly, one of Kasandra's men rushed in to inform them that Dema was in danger. However, upon seeing Kasandra and Sona so close, the man got a nosebleed. Both women were confused, but he quickly regained his composure and informed them that Utang was trying to capture Dema because of her blessing. The two women immediately rushed to Sona's house.
Upon arriving, they found Greg had been beaten by Utang's men after protecting Dema, who was being held hostage. The men were trying to force Dema to sign a contract, even stomping on her fingers to make her bleed. Dema cried out for help, but her strength was fading after a punch to her stomach. Her last words were Sona's name.
Just as all hope seemed lost, Sona arrived, her left eye glowing yellow. She struck the men with her wand, freeing Dema and catching the contract before burning it to ashes. Utang, furious, called for the knights to arrest Sona. But Kasandra stepped in, stating that Sona was her butler, and that both sisters were now protected by the Alasalas family.
Sona, enraged, punched Utang in the face until Kasandra stopped her. The landlord, beaten and humiliated, apologized, but Kasandra wasn't done. She presented evidence showing that Utang had been running a slave trade. The knights quickly took him away, and the adventurers rejoiced.
